You can never go wrong with checky jackets and Rickenbackers. Or:

Blue Cheer

White Heaven - Michio Kurihara getting his John Cippolina on

Man, with John Cippolina & Micky Jones getting their John Cippolina on

Man's version of QMS's version of this tune is better than QMS's version. I think. You may disagree.

Item by item response:

Mose Allison--"Parchman Farm" Back in the day, Mose did an interview with a black newspaper from NY on the phone. "How was it to be one of the first Afro-American to graduate from LSU?" the interviewer asked. "Uh," replied Mose, "there's something you should know..."

I only saw Ghost one time and I was quite drunk. They started rattling on about "Free Tibet" and I started yelling at them until Damon and Naomi (formerly of Galaxie 500) asked me to leave. Vive le Galt!

The third link, unfortunately, "contains content from UMPG Publishing and EMI, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." Bastards!

Just went out to Best Buy and purchased BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME: The Parallax II: Future Sequence. Really enjoy this band, they always make fantastic epic records.

Naomi looks exactly like my Mum, circa 1965. Not interesting, but true.

Been listening to a bit more Blue Cheer - later albums, which have their moments like this

And this, which represents a 180 degree change in direction if I ever heard one...

My mom's name is Naomi, which is both interesting AND true.

Reminded me a bit of Jan & Dean, or someone like that... Liked it!

Also...

My own favourite Eno track - St. Elmo's Fire, with slightly vertigo-inducing video .

Nothing to do with John Parr, or the horrific martyrdom of a much-loved Sesame Street character.

And a completely different Greensleeves

Not sure how this'll go down :)

I kept having this nervous feeling that "Candy Shop" was going to morph into gay porn. And I kind of wanted it to...

Please excuse me while I heterosex back up.

Zombie frame of mind ...

Zombie - Not really zombie music, but it's expected, so it's here
Shambles - which seems closer to the mark content wise (not to mention a shout out the local artists)
Never Look Back - certainly zombies in the video ...
Lose Control - again zombies in video ...
Zombie - I think we have a contender here ...
I hate this, do you like it? - yep another on for the short list
Zombies - Metal zombies

That's a pretty perfect post there, boyo, but Ace of Spades for real, yo!

Hitting the scan button on the radio while driving around today provided:

Joe Jackson--"On Your Radio"

J.D. McPherson--"North Side Gal" which I thought might be vintage until I looked it up

The Rolling Stones--"Wild Horses"

+1 for Tom Lehrer...
+2 for Ace of Spades...

Erkin Koray again, with Saskin

Ramases & Selket

Did someone sample this in the early/mid 90s, or am I making it up?

Amanaz - the History of the Man

Apologies for the quality (or it may just be my speakers) - Grooveshark version Here.

EDIT: I really, really, want this album now. RIGHT NOW!

Once again, my mind is blown!

Eno--"Mother Whale Eyeless"

Pavement

and

The Replacements

Fugazi--In on the Kill Taker

I bought this not long before I posted the "Great Cop" link above and, before that, I don't think I had listened to this album since 1995. Maybe 1996.

It's pretty awesome.

Doodlebug Anklebiter wrote:

They're repeating a session Pavement did for John Peel on Marc Riley's show all this week.

Like the way there isn't anything in the way of vocals on the Replacements track until the song's nearly over, too...

Hee hee!

I'll have to check out the Beeb link when I get out of work, but I have fond memories of listening to a tape a co-worker had made of Marc Riley on the radio waxing nostalgically about getting shiznit on by Mark E. Smith.

Which brings us to: Bingo Master's Breakout which, I think, has Marc on it.

EDIT: Nope, too early.

Sovereign Court

Listening to Don Caballero and Deftones covers in anticipation of getting the new deftones album.

I am listening to the When Diplomacy Fails Podcast , The Austro-Prussian War of 1866.

It is very good History Podcast and I recommend it to anybody interested in how wars start.

Two Steps from Hell.

Wait a second...I just figured it out. Limeylongears is a) British; b) a [redacted]; c) he used to play in a prog band. I've seen through your disguise, Longears, and I will unmask you before all of Paizo. You are, are you not, Robert Wyatt?!?

Oh, waitaminnit, his mom looked like Naomi Yang in 1965--hmm, well it's still possible.

I'm on to you, Bob!

It would be nice to have 1/10th of his talent (and it would be ace if RW played Pathfinder), but sadly, no :)

Mind you, using the same reasoning, the Comrade above must be Charlie Haden, so here's me and him and Carla Bley

Warning: may contain jazz.

Currently listening to a Spotify Playlist on shuffle... Lots of We Came as Romans, System of a Down, Metallica, even some Caravan Palace, but currently it's Buddy Holly.

My tastes are varied.
