An amazing song (though I strongly prefer the clean/radio edit, due to my own preferences of language).

Saw Looper yesterday and was introduced to this awesome soul weeper.

It also had a naked hooker scene set to I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight which was pretty cool.

Anytime Richard picks up a plectum (or fingerpicks, as the case may be) is awesome, but I miss the horn section.

Well, I'm still back on the epic 24 Hour Party People post, but my automobile will be undergoing some extensive surgery this week and I thought I'd post some in-car listening posts as "Get well soon!" cards.

When I saw him live a couple years back, he actually did both at the same time, with the pick between thumb and index finger (playing the bass line), and playing the melody with his other three fingers. He's the only person I've ever seen do that.

Is that Travis picking, or have I got it mixed up with something else?

That's why RT is a guitar hero.

No, Limey, it's the same. (I think--I ain't no musician)

Super! :)

They had a load of blues CDs in one of the local charity/thrift shops this morning. I bought two - one of Thirties Blues, which I haven't listened to yet, and one of the Memphis Jug Band, which I like a lot.

Sugar Pudding, for example

The Grateful Dead seem to have got a lot of their repertoire from this bunch...

Man, that stuff is hardcore. Don't do too much moshing while you're there, though, 'cause I hear that even with the craziest bands the police in 'Diego don't like that. ;)

Hee hee! I haven't thought about them in a long time.

As teenaged punk prodigies: Linda Blair

Also, The Who doing Marvin Gaye as part of something called Live at the Young Vic which were live rehearsals for the failed Lifehouse Project? Or something? Anyway, I got the fancy schmancy double-disc version of Who's Next for Xmas and it rawks!!

Back in my awesome 20s, my roommates used to f*#+ with me and put my records out of order. Then they would take bets on how long it would take for me to notice. I didn't usually go longer than half an hour...

I traced my desperate psychological urge to have my records (and books and dvds) in order back to the summers I spent as a child helping my mother at her job as an administrative assistant in the local school system's library program.

It's weird, because I'm not anal retentive in any other area of my life...

Right now, now, it's Sarabeth Tucek , but also this week;

Crosscut Saw by the Groundhogs

Museo Rosenbach

And there's a new Wolf People album out next month. Woohoo!

I worked in a library for quite some time, but my books/records are in a state of nature, so to speak. I get quite OCD-y about other things, but not that, which is odd. And boring!

Martin Phillips and the Chills--Sunburnt

Nice stuff from later in his career. Not his best, perhaps, but for the already converted quite pleasant.

No P.O.S. this week. Hes still trying to get better. But Dessa and Aby Wolf brought all they had to Columbia and tore Mojo's to the ground. Had such a blast.

Heres the closest approximation to that experience. But she and Aby get into the crowd for half the songs and the energy was AMAZING!

I leaned over while the opener was onstage and thanked her for showing up in the nasty cold weather, and she thanked me right back. My head was dazed for 15 minutes after talking to her. She is mesmerizing!
