Adding a little tidbit from Motown posts of days past.

Don Juan de Cornelius wrote:

I think Martha and co. may have been the awesomest female act Motown had.

She could do the pop numbers just as well as Diana, plus she could do the soul numbers the latter couldn't even think of singing.

And even though that one was famously done with Whitfield and Ashford and Simpson, etc., I still felt like a Magnetic Fields link:

But this is for Holland/Dozier/Holland!

EDIT: Actually, this one is worth cutting-and-pasting:

I met Ferdinand de Saussure on a night like this
On love, he said, I'm not so sure I even know what it is
No understanding, no closure, it is a nemesis
You can't use a bulldozer to study orchids, he said so

We don't know anything
You don't know anything
I don't know anything
About love

And we are nothing (woah-a-woah)
You are nothing
I am nothing
Without love

I'm just a great composer and not a violent man (clap clap clap)
But I lost my composure and I shot Ferdinand
Crying, it's well and kosher to say you don't understand
But this is for Holland Dozier Holland, his last words were

We don't know anything
You don't know anything
I don't know anything
About love

But we are nothing
You are nothing
I am nothing

Without love

His fading words were

We don't know anything
You don't know anything
I don't know anything
About love

But we are nothing
You are nothing
I am nothing
Without love

Now, back to Marvin...

I'm starting to realize that the night shift at UPS is full of music people, for some reason. Found out today that one of my co-workers is the rhythm guitarist for Killaton, and that another guy used to roadie for Stevie Ray Vaughan. The frontman from Bridge Under Fire also used to work here, and their lead guitarist works the evening shift.

In other news, I can't believe I'd forgotten how f*#$ing righteous this album was.

^^ F*## YES! This is what I needed tonight! Thanks Mallon!

I was listening to a lot of John Bush (in and out of Armored Saint, Anthrax, and solo stuff). Heres a couple weird tracks:

Long Distance Calling - Middleville

The man covering the Beatles

Paper Trail (which I think has to do with the end of his relationship with Anthrax)

and reaching way back, March of the Saint

One of my favorite older Anthrax tunes with Bush on vox, I AM THE LAW

and where Bush got his start...covering Priest Never Satisfied

That Hulk track is AWESOME psychout rock!

Just in case you thought all Anthony Michael Hall could do was be Rusty Griswold or Farmer Ted in 16Candles or a knockoff Walken in the DeadZone, I give you

The Hall of Mirrors

and NEW DOOMTREE!

Cant wait until February in Columbia!

This one played a pivotal role in setting Baby Doodlebug on the road to Bolshevism, although, if pressed, I'd have to admit I'm not sure I have any idea what it's about.

Being trapped by the system and stepping outside it to have self-realisation and self-actualisation.

I always thought.

Some of the songs are duds (e.g. Tricks Up My Sleeve, Awesome as I Want to Be, and Music to My Ears), but for the most part, the music in this movie is great! I especially liked all of the songs by the Sirens (e.g. Under Our Spell, Welcome to the Show, and Let's Have a Battle).

Liberty's Edge

I have a question for this thread's collective intelligence:

Like two years ago I saw a really sweet music video with a couple skating on an ice rink or frozen pond of some kind, cut with shots of musicians (the band, presumably) laying on their backs on the same ice singing and playing guitar and even saxophone, I think. It was night during the whole video pretty much, and I think the name of the song or the band had "stars" in it somewhere. The genre was like . . . indie pop, I want to say, but to my memory it also had some heavier rock notes. Mostly focused on the vocals though.

I haven't seen it in two years and I've tried searching for it half a dozen times since then, without any luck. This is a long shot but does that ring a bell to anyone here?

And to contribute to the thread here is what I have been listening to for most of today.
