Heh. I wouldn't ever call them the heights of musical exceptionalism, but they're fun, so I don't care.

IRON MAIDEN by IRON MAIDEN

...Iron Maiden's gonna get you, no matter how far.

Bad Company is a pretty goofy band (though I still like 'Rock n Roll Fantasy') and the song is alright *shrug* (as is the 5FDP cover of that self titled tune).

Orthos, have you had a chance to see Wacken Open Air festival? Or Paganfest if youre in the states? A lot of those bands play in those places...Download Festival in UK too. Watching Amon Amarth or Kamelot or Turisas or Gamma Ray live is spectacular!

Rancid, anything really
also a huge huge fan of The Ziggens:)

Hey captain. Rancid just released a new record a couple weeks ago. "Raise Your Fist" sounded pretty good off of that...actually, I liked the whole record (even though its only like 33mins long total).

also Foo Fighters were on Lettermans show for a whole week back in October. This version of "Miracle" was touching.

I read that Metallica is going to be on an entire week of Craig Fergusons show before he takes off...wonder what that will be like?

Tony Sly - "Dark Corner"

Jello Biafra with the Melvins - "Plethysmograph"

Well, that post above will be my last for a week or so. Headed down to Corpus Christi TX for a dedication ceremony of a 5-generation-ago relative's grave (and visiting Galveston and Austin). The family chipped in to get a newer stone and we couldnt all get together for Veterans Day, but we're going to have the speeches on Saturday. (Yes Im taking the Alamo tour...and yes Im going to ask about the basement. RIP Jan Hooks).

Have fun!

In the meantime, I've been listening to a bunch of Galaxie 500 today.

Salt N Pepa--"None of Your Business"

Mr. Comrade and I are working on a project in which we render all of our political positions in '90s hip hop songs. I think this one can serve for "Decriminalize prostitution!"

My parents music scene is usually quite a bit different than mine, and I've been in the van for a week with them on this Texas genealogical expedition and these couple songs crossed over and fit in my music wheelhouse.

Johnny Cash - Mean as Hell

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard - Pancho and Lefty

Willie - City of New Orleans

Kris Kristofferson - Sunday Morning Coming Down actually, they had a local guitar player's cover of this one on a cd.

Hank Snow - Music Makin' Mama from Memphis Tennessee

Ennio Morricone - Sixty Seconds To What?

Good stuff =) I really can't agree with the first one, I like Tarot but I've always preferred Nightwish myself. Granted that might be because I just have a big appreciation for that style of "soprano female lead with metal backing" sort of thing, likewise why they, Tristania, Sirenia, Birthday Massacre, After Forever, Lacuna Coil, Delain, Epica, Within Temptation, etc. etc. etc. keep showing up in my playlist. (I use Jango for my music listening. I'm not picking these individual songs deliberately =) Not all the time, anyway. It sorts them by artist, though you can upvote/downvote individual songs.)

I'm actually really looking forward to how Nightwish'll fare with Floor Jansen as their frontlady now, given I like a fair majority of After Forever's stuff and she seems more fitting for Nightwish's older style than Annette was.

Native Texan here, eighteen years born and raised before relocation to Arizona then Tennessee and now Georgia. Been to Corpus several times growing up, though my stomping grounds were the Victoria area. Can't disagree with you at all =D

Synergistic weirdiosity, I just came back from Mr. and Mrs. Comrades' house where I made them watch Yo Majesty and they made me watch the latest(? I think) episode of SNL with Chris Rock and Prince.

Hate to say it, but it was a pretty solid episode.
