Questions about the first pearl (Spoilers)

Savage Tide Adventure Path

In The Bullywug Gambit it says that the shadow pearl was being delivered to a noble family in Sasserine. It never says who it was going to, but this is the kind of thing that if my players hear I know they'll want to pursue. Any ideas about which family wanted it? Or is the noble family just a ruse? What did the noble family want it for? Is someone in Sasserine part of the plot that Demogorgon is hatching?

Well... the PCs have very little chance of learning much about what the pearl was, let alone who it was being delivered to. But basically, the people who are having the pearls delivered to them (in Sasserine and in dozens of other cities) are generally allied in some way with Demogorgon or the Crimson Fleet. They'll keep their pearls in safe keeping and then, when Demogorgon's ready to unleash the savage tide, they'll move their pearls into densely-populated areas like marketplaces or slums and POW!

Harliss certainly doesn't know who the person the pearl was intended to go to was. She was supposed to deliver the pearl to an agent, who would then hand it off through several more agents until it finally reached its intended source; the Crimson Fleet's being very secretive and careful about who knows where the pearls go. Cause they don't wanna dissapoint Big D and get him angry.

All that's a long way of saying it doesn't matter who the pearl was being delivered to since the PCs won't be able to figure it out until, at the very earliest, near the end of the campaign.

Thanks! I just wanted to be prepared in case they pursued that thread.

Please oh please oh please let it be the Merivanchis...

Ooh, I can see it now. The pearl was going to be delivered to none other than....Kora.

I just posted this in the AoW board but I figure it fits this post as well.

My players have just finished with the mass slayage that was the Spire of Long Shadows. After making a pit stop in Sasserine, and completing some left over business, they are going back home to Alhaster. But the one Cleric of Wee Jas was going to pick up some packages for a certain Halfling Merchant woman, who lives in Rooksroost (Mizen Mitchwillow).

I had not done much interesting with the packages that they were going to take to Mitchwillow, mostly some rare woods, spices, and other goods that she had them trade for some similar, Northern, goods that they had taken down with them. But I got to thinking, I should have a less than scrupulous noble or merchant (perhaps Nemiem Roblach or Vanthus)hand them two magically sealed boxes to take to Mitchwillow and some other merchant in Alhaster, two Shadow Pearls. I would have the Sasserine fellow show them their cargo and then magically seal the velvet lined strong boxes, paying them 1,000gp to take them North.

I figure this is a nice way to set up some unknown foreshadowing about the next AP, that I plan to run next year or so. It will be especially cool because neither of my players know anything about the next AP except that it has pirates, high seas, cool adventures, and the Isle of Dread. So it will be like 6 months or more until they see a shadow Pearl again, but when they do they will realize that their characters from the last game helped spread a secret horrorm to the hometown that by then they (the old AoW characters) now rule.

I figure it will be a cool moment and will make their cargo a bit more interesting.

how about: go to sasserine, put the so far captured pearls up for sale and check out whois buing them.
Then scrag them big time? :D

..i do wonder what a proper price is for them tho.. 20k?
