I am hoping that there is a game store nearby that I can sneak off to and score some Free RPG Day swag.

Is there?

Closest game store is going to be Dragon Games in Bellevue...it is a bus ride away. There is nothing within walking distance of the hotel.

CJ

Surely most of the RPG day swag will also be available at the Con?

If not, Tam I would be up for driving out there.

Grand Lodge

free RPG stuff that Paizo and the other venders are offering, but nothing else.

Good swag, but limited none the less.

What I am hearing is that you will have a car and would like me to keep you company on your way to Dragon Games. Is this the case? If so I will mapquest it immediately and be the best co-pilot ever.

Tim said something of a Dragon's Lair, is that it?

That is the one. I'm headed there today, so I can come back with a report on what their stock is like.

"Our complementary shuttle service is on request to take you to various attractions within a 5 mile radius." Coast Bellevue Hotel

"Coast Bellevue Hotel @ 625 116 Avenue South East to Dragon's Lair Comics and Fantasy @ 14725 Southeast 20th Place = 4.3 miles via 140th Ave SE and NE 8th St." Google Maps

I wonder if the hotel considers the Dragon's Lair to be an 'attraction' worthy of shuttling us out there . . .

If enough folks request it ... then yes, I would hope.

You own a copy right? Bring it to PaizoCon. Mark was interested in learning it, and I think it'd be a blast to play with y'all.

This is true.

I shall get one and bring it. Once the booth is down early Sunday afternoon, i'll come back to the hotel and we can play it--assuming you're staying through Monday.

But Sunday night's the Burnt Offerings screening!

That's Sunday afternoon. Early Sunday afternoon. :-)

I'll still be around Sunday night, so let's call it a plan!

Will there be smack-talking? Also, I may need a way to offload any extra cookies I might have.

I can guarantee it, dear.

Also, note how much a cheater Frosty is. He can't even talk smack without stealing my trains.

What a pretty picture that was. :) Never thought about using the trains to spell out messages... Heh heh, wait until I play again with the Shackletons...

Wish I could join you guys. Have fun at PaizoCon, and see you at GenCon!

They had an okay selection of Pathfinder stuff.

Some Game Mastery battle mats that I hadn't seen (but didn't feel compelled to buy).

An okay selection of figs, but no Paizo iconics.

Some comics, some board games.

It was a nice little store, but nothing to write home about.

Unless you live in the No Game Store Zone -- I'm not sure you would find anything there that you couldn't find elsewhere.

They did have a better selection of RP stuff than Uncle's (our local chain) or Genesis Games & Gizmos (but 3G has way more figs).

If you are going to pilgrimage to a game store it should be Games Plus in Woodinville (which has a vast array of old stuff plus a good selection of new).

Yeah, 3G is has a lot more figures and wargaming stuff. I have registered my complaint at their lack of pathfinder minis. They do have a bunch of reaper minis though and a small selection of warmachine minis and other things like that. That said, I've never felt comfortable or particularly wanted in there. Dragon's Lair actually has a few women that work there and that makes me feel a little more at ease. Same with uncles, but it's a different kind of store. More boardgamey and casual. My preference is currently for Dragon's Lair, but if you're a dude then it probably won't matter much to you. Though Dragon's Lair is way way closer.

Squeek and I did a tour of the local gaming stores in the Bellevue/Seattle area, you can take a look at our findings on this thread.

If you don't want to dig through the thread, a copy can be viewed below.

Local Game Store Reviews:
Gary's Games and Hobbies at 8539 Greenwood Avenue North in Seattle is by far the best we've seen. They have a tremendous selection of products for every tabletop game imaginable, both new and used. They had more than half of all the Pathfinder Adventure Path books ever released in stock new, as well as more than half of all other supplements. Their used area contains a treasure trove of material from 1st Edition D&D, AD&D, 3rd and 3.5 Editions, Pathfinder and 4e material. It also contains a wide variety of books from other publishers under open gaming license, totally worth checking out.

Dragon's Lair at 14725 NE 20th St Suite A in Bellevue had a reasonable selection of new products, including some Pathfinder materials, but what is really nice is its four open gaming tables. Each has four chairs, but six people could easily be accommodated at the table. This FLGS also has the benefit of being the closest to the hotel, only 4 miles away.

Gamma Ray Games in downtown Seattle had a lot of promise, but very little inventory. I was surprised that they were not even aware that PaizoCon was going on this weekend, and they already have their gaming area reserved for Magic on Friday, Warhammer on Saturday and Board Games on Sunday. They are closed on Monday. They also had the highest prices we found on dice, minitures and books (they few they had). Apparently they haven't gotten any new Paizo books from any of their three distributors in over a month; this was the reason given why the low supply of Pathfinder products. I'd recommend avoiding this shop during PaizoCon, both for being in a bad part of town and for little to no inventory.

I hope this information helps!
