What would Eligos do?

Age of Worms Adventure Path

My group of players removed the 250 pound mirror of True Seeing and teleported with it to Eligos' Estate, at first to see if he would like to purchase it - however, the party is very suspicious of every single living creature in town... dealing with Dopplgegangers can cause paranoia I suppose. :P

They want Eligos to stand in front of the mirror - to see if he is a doppleganger. Would someone of his stature be offended? Or simply comply? How should he react?

I would make him somewhat offended, make the party explain themselves.
If they use Diplomacy with a good tale of dopplegangers and their paranoid beliefs, he'll go for it. If they screw up he teleports them outside in anger, make it obvious he's offended and doesn't have time for foolish rantings... that'll convince the players of the 'truth' :-)

Oh and when they are teleported outside make them fall down and break the mirror :-))

Dark Archive

All characters present and "in" on the scheme should make Bluff checks to disguise their desire to see whether or not Eligos is up to no good as a genuine offer to sell him the magical mirror. If he rolls well for Sense Motive and even one of them botches things, he'd surely be upset. "Is it me you mistrust, or is it the one who sent you to me?"

Another round of Bluff and Sense Motive should follow if they're not forthcoming with the info about the doppelgangers who are out to get 'em. If they lie again, they'd likely be shown the door and without Eligos' aid until amends were made.
