As I got Volume1 as a present yesterday, I have to chime in here now. First of all - Great Book!
My wish for an upcoming volume would be:
I am not sure, but I think it has been Dragon Annual #4 (1999). I hope I am right. In there has been some very cool monsters - the GHAZNETHS, the 7 Scourges!!!
Although they are FR-creatures, I would love to have them for my Eberron campaign, updated to 3.5! Any chance...

I'm wanting the ghazneths myself, as my campaign is set in Cormyr. :-D All I've got is the description from the novels.
If you like, I can send you the 2E Stats via eMail.
I wrote them out of the magazine, when a friend lend it to me.Ecology and Habit entrys are also with them...If you like, drop me a line at dryder@t-online.de!
The Ghazneths are great!!!

Here's a suggestion from this Updated 3.5 Gem Dragons? thread. They did first appear way back in Dragon #37, 26 years ago. I dunno what's the policy between Paizo and Wizards though, whether stuff that appeared in a WotC book can be updated, with full stats, in a Paizo book (usually it's the reverse scenario).
Oh, and a disclosure as to why I suggested gem dragons. I did my own update of gem dragons at my Gem Dragon Psionics project.

Here's a suggestion from this Updated 3.5 Gem Dragons thread.
I think the Gem Dragons were updated (at least to 3.0) in either MMII or Fiend Folio.
As I didn't collect Dragon before 3.0, I don't really have any particular articles to name. However, I agree with alot of people that say the older the material they convert for Volume II (and beyond) the better.
I also like Tim's suggestion from earlier about taking alot of the extra stuff from Dungeon (monsters stats, magic items, etc).

In vol.1 there is a picture of a man with a skull mask on a black horse right by the cover, I do not remember the name of the article of what issue , I do remember it was about the death lords and I believe that it was a two part issue.
Also there was a dungeon and dragon with the githanki wars that would be pretty cool to see again.

Personally, I'd like to see Dungeon Compendium, Vol 1 first, collecting and updating the best and/or most popular adventures published in Dungeon to date, along with any supplemental material needed to run those modules (i.e., any as-yet-unpublished-for-3.5 monsters, traps, equipment, spells, etc).
I actually agree with this.
There's been some stellar modules (I still have fond memories of "Tallows Deep" from Dungeon #18!!), and they deserve to be seen and played by the "new generation" of gamers.Future volumes, if there are any, will focus largely upon older material. I am optimistic given the sales, but we have not yet heard back from Wizards of the Coast.
Pleased to hear that. I have the "Dragon" CD Rom archive, and there's a goldmine of untapped stuff that would really add to the 3.5 culture.
And congrats to you, Erik, for making Dragon and Dungeon "must-reads" once more. (I really haven't paid much attention to "Dungeon" and "Dragon" since 2nd Edition, but lately, I've been finding things in "Dragon" that really interest me, and I -love- the "Adventure Path" series.)

Hi,
I am a happy owner of the Dragon CD-ROM archive.
And I own every issue that appeared after issue 250. All 3rd edition issues are in arm reach from me right now.
Nevertheless I was very happy about volume I.
My wishes would be:
- Please include more of the old material and convert it to 3rd edition.
- Add some of the best more recent stuff if it complements the old material. I really liked the two (old edition) articles about runes and rune stones which complemented each other. Why not choose a similar approach about the Far Realm (which made its appearance now and again). Or about Greyhawk (hehe!).
Just my 2 cents (and not more for a change :p),
Günther

Would it help if we submit a different type of article query: older editions articles that we have updated on our own as possible entries for Vol II?
Not really. I think Erik has already decided which articles to include in Volume 2 (if it ever happens).
And no, I cannot confirm (nor deny) the inclusion of any particular article(s).

Unfortunately, there's a reason the "if" part is there. If any of you haven't been to ENWorld yet, I suggest you check out this thread. If the rumors are true, you won't see a DC2.....
At least not in this current edition of D&D :'(
Check it out: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=170474&page=1&pp=40

I for one third the return of the Timelord. Great class, great times. I want a 3E Chronomancer...
That aside, I think Volume II should contain campaign setting material. Stuff like Ed Greenwood's old work, the Ecology of the Nine Hells, and all that jazz. The 3E Spelljammer article in Dungeon 92 could be a big hit as well.

I'm not sure if this has been suggested or not, but I've been looking through the 3.0 and 3.5 ecology articles, and it seems to me that
a) There's plenty of material for a book (or two)
b) Since there has been more "crunch" in the last several years, it seems as if these articles are ideal candidates for a stand-alone book
c) Wizards' complaint about competing doesn't float if you're talking about a book that expands on EXISTING MM creatures
d) Anything Paizo publishes will "compete" for sales, but a carefully selected book which expands the interest in the game could expand the player base to compensate.
