Really Bad Race / Class Combinations

3.5/d20/OGL

I was talking with a friend who is going to join my Age of Worms campaign, and we started talking about what kind of character he wanted to play. After he tossed out a couple of really good ideas for race/class combos, I tossed one out of my own:

Me: Lantern Archon Barbarian.
Him: You mean that little ball of light?
Me: Yep.
Him: What happens when he rages? Turns a different color or something? *Attempts to act out what a lantern archon barbarian would look like when raging.*

It was pretty funny.

I'm a REALLY big fan of the simple classic stuff... Playing a good old human fighter still has it's appeal to me. In fact, I don't quite understand the reason for wanting to play a half-minotaur/half-beholder assassin/loremaster/kensai. Lack of vision, or a sucker for the classics?

Ultradan

Green slime bard. I suppose he might be able to make some burbling/farting noises to inspire his allies.

Alternetely, green slime rogue. It's hard to pick pockets while you're also dissolving them.

Although, for the same reason, a green slime rogue could be quite usefull... he would be undetered by the locks, unaffected by most traps (poisons, gas, physical effects), and he could open most doors pretty easily. Hmmm... it could be workable.

I want to play a gargoyle barbarian.

No not the monster, an actual stone gargoyle. I wonder, will my DR stack with my Hardness?

If someone has already got that one then I'll be the mountain giant rogue (Who am I not flanking)? And who's going to notice me picking their pocket and then say anything?

Umm...how about a dragon with the dragon slayer prestige class? Or a good Vampire Cleric. Everytime he uses turn undead has chance of hurting himself.

Picking their pockets? More like, "Smash little man's pocket! Smash it to goo!!!"

Hmmm... kind of sound like the Hulk.

Green Slime isn't even a creature anymore. It is a Hazard.

A Green Slime Bard would be like a Slippery Rock Ninja.

Although a Gelatinous Cube Wizard would probably not be of much use...

Maybe a Piercer Barbarian...

Although that does reming me of my wife's most feared creature...the blanketroll. Pronounced "Blankie Troll"

From my wife's one attempt at DMing: "You enter a clearing in which there is a horse. Upon the horse are saddlebags and a blankie troll. Roll for initiative as the Blankie Troll attacks."

Players laughing: "A what? Do you have stats for that creature? What, is it attacking us with its fringe, or does it have satin edgging"

Now when she stops and ask who the game is going we tell her that the party is fighting Pillow Case Goblins, or Sheet Gnomes. That usually gets the first one of us to snicker a good slap on the back of the head.

That and he's always getting poison darts stuck in his big toe. On the plus side most pits are either one, not that deep, or two not wide enough to accomidate him

You know... you could probably get a TPK with a Slippery Rock Ninja vs a 1st level party.

Can you give me the book I should be looking in, for it? I have spent some outrageous amount of time not finding Green Slime. In fact I finally just used what seemed to be implied in the Slime Wave Spell (taking into consideration that this was a high level spell and represented a lot of Green Slime) to base my Green Slime off of.

It's in the DMG now, under Dungeon Hazards.
