I'm sure some of you know of this but for those that don't:
Good stuff if you like some of the heavy "stoner" vibes of Monster Magnet, even going back to the psychedelic of Hawkwind.
They suggest a pronounciation of "kia-uss". They credit the name coming from D&D even: "It is a character from Dungeons and Dragons. But we only used it because we thought it was a cool name."
Who could have guessed "Kyuss" would be so trendy?
"KIGH-us" is wikipedia's suggestion.

I say "kie (like pie) us."
I like this pronunciation, too. And that's how I and the players in my campaign pronounce it. There is already and "eye-ooze" (Iuz) in Greyhawk. I think the distinction is important to avoid a similar phoneme for K-eye-uss (Kyuss).
Happy gaming

If you ask me, its like that old tootsie-pop commercial with the owl. "How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie-roll center of a tootsie-pop?...The world may never know."
I would, personally, go with the whole k-eye-us, kie-us, kigh-us pronunciation. Since, however, we live in a reasonably free country, anyone can pronounce Kyuss almost anyway they want.

A couple of them (Josh Hommes still) started up Queens of the Stone Age, a much better effort. You can't go wrong with Dave Grohl on drums.
I always pronounced it Kî-uss.
