Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

How is DUNGEON doing?

Is readership increasing/decreasing/reamining steady?

What are the readership estimates?

How are the sales numbers on The Shackled City hard cover?

Is it likley that you will also do a hard cover for the Age of Worms?

While I cannot share specific financial data with the public, I can say that we are very pleased with where Dungeon is headed, and generally have been so since before issue #112 ("Maure Castle"), which marked something of a turning point for the magazine (as did the relaunch two issues later).

Subscriptions have increased for the last seven months in a row, and don't look to slow down.

The Shackled City book seems to be doing quite well, but of course it is early days.

If the Shackled City and Dragon Compendium books do well and make us money, I think it's reasonable to assume that we would do an Age of Worms hardcover, but there are no concrete plans to do so at the moment.

I was at my FLGS yesterday, checking out the latest RPG releases on the day they came out.
I was scanning the shelf, when a very determined individual marched into the store, walked up to the hardcover racks and grabbed the only copy of Shackled City. He popped it open scanned maybe four pages and proceeded directly to the register.
The clerk said, "Hey, this is the one you were asking about the other day, right?"
The buyer said yes, paid up and left.
I was really impressed that Shackled City had such good word of mouth that he had been eagerly anticpating its arrival and must've been checking the racks for a few weeks now.
That is a good sign, IMHO.

That was me! ;-)

Seriously though, the Shackled City Hardcover sounds awesome if for nothing else (and there's plenty) for the new adventure from Chris Perkins. The maps are probably banging! Anyone seen em? I haven't tracked one down yet because I have been traveling for several weeks, but I look forward to grabbin a copy upon my return to Hawai'i.

I didn't notice I was so intent on that Shackled CIty Hardcover, you saw the determination in my stride. I had Shackled City tunnel vision my friend.

Off Topic: Racing the Snake is one of my faves!

Back on Topic: It's a trick question anyways, you weren't wearing a shirt.

Hi there,

First post and all to this board.

I have been more than impressed with Dungeon over the last months. I have recently retuned to reading the magazine after a long hiatus. Going to my local news agent to pick up the latest magazine arrival in my part of the world; Dungeon 124. I found that it (Dungeon) had a price increase, and gone up AUD$3.00 to AUD$15,95 or their about…ouch! I was a bit reticent at $11:95 per issue, but the new price will certainly cause me to look twice at the content and weigh up if there is any value in that issue and I’ll skip if not. That said, with the plastic bag to hold the map thingy in place, I could not judge on its (issue 124)relevance to my game.

Cheers

As I recall, the price increase was only for that issue, thanks to the map within the issue. There's a thread about it somewhere around here, but I'm too lazy to go dig it up. ;)
