GORD THE ROGUE

Id like to see loads of information on these clasic Gygax characters

I can dig it!

The Gord novels were, to put it bluntly, not good. I can, however, respect them for being closer to the game's sword & sorcery roots than almost all the rest of the D&D novel lines.

And while it was amateurish, some of the dialog was fun and you ended up liking the characters despite yourself and wanting to like the story.

I would enjoy such an article.

umm, story?

Gary has agreed to "start thinking" about a new Gord story for Dragon. I'd quite like to publish one.

Interesting. Didn't Gord end up as a god? The Cat Lord if I'm not mistaken. I think he's written up in the back of the Epic Level Handbook.

The Cat Lord (Rexfelis) and Gord are different characters, though they were strongly allied in the latter Gord novels. Gord himself has not been mentioned overtly in any product since Gygax left TSR, since he retains ownership of the character (and Chert, Curly Greenleaf, and Gellor).

The dialogue in those Gord stories was priceless; perfectly horrible pulp language chockful of anachronism and profanity.
No other character in the history of D&D novels sounded as much like the players at my table. Please, please, please bring back Gord.

ah, the perfect opportunity to ask a question that's been burning in my mind. ;) some/most/all of the demon lords appeared in the Gord books, often with altered names. for the purposes of publishing, say, a Demonomicon article, how much of that content is off-limits? say Demon Lord A is mentioned only in that extensive list in MM2, but is fully described in an EGG novel. if we know that Demon Lord A in the novel looks like a huge rock creature, drinks blood, shoots sparkles out of his nose, and flies into a rage when he sees the color green, how much of that can we use? if we say he looks like a lump of clay and doesn't drink blood, could we still say that he shoots sparkles and hates green?

Yea, but wasn't Gord's Greyhawk destroyed in the last Gord novel? Not that I don't love Gord. Especially if it means we get to see another piece of work from Gygax, aka "the Man."
