Both Lily and Freen hit the remaining constituent and down it goes.

With a clean shot still lined up, Sunshine boosts his plasma fork and fires again.
Move boost longarm, standard shoot at apari.
Attack vs EAC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage (E+F; boost): 1d8 + 6 + 1d4 ⇒ (6) + 6 + (3) = 15

"You gibbering puke for brains ain't gonna stand between us and our gun-running dreams!!! Get 'Em!!!!"
Arc pistol vs EAC, get'em: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 = 26
Electric damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Get 'em gives everyone +2ATK on the apari.

![]() |

Faraeon switches his arc pistol to lethal force and moves forward. He tucks and rolls behind the desk across from the apari then pops his head up over the edge of the desk and fires a shot at the creature.
Trick: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
Arc pistol vs flat-footed, Get em: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 = 22 Damage (E): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Trick damage: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 2, 8) = 12
Target is flat-footed for the round if Trick is successful and attack hits.

![]() |

It's a separate Move Action to toggle between Lethal and Nonlethal; that's why Lily didn't Trick Attack last round.
Lily lines up her scope between the creature's eyes and fires away!
Aiming scope to reduce cover by 4.
Static Arc Pistol vs EAC: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23 vs FF
Electricity, Trick Attack: 1d6 + 4 + 4d8 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (3, 6, 4, 8) = 30
Debilitating Trick: Hampering Shot

Kultanien lines up her laser, and then squeezes off a couple of shots at the Apari
attack vs EAC: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 - 4 = 4
attack vs EAC: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 - 4 = 20
F damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
She rushes the first, but the second looks a little better.

GM Wolffauer |

A hail of gunfire batters the apari, which is unable to stand against it, and slumps down dead.
You quickly assess the rest of the room and find no further threats. There is a computer terminal embedded in the desk, and in a cabinet under the desk you discover a small cache of weapons:
A sentinel staff
One pair of darksight goggles
A tactical cluster launcher loaded with four stickybomb grenades II, two flash grenades II, and two riot grenades III
Standard doors on the north and west walls lead further into the base.
When you are ready to move, please give me a marching order

![]() |

"Sunshine.. that terminal looks like it might be your type of thing. Want to have a go at it?" smiles Kultanien encouragingly.
She quickly scans the keyboard "Look these keys have been used more than others... I wonder if that is a clue about how to get in?"
computers(aid): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

![]() |

Anybody mind if I grab those goggles so I don't have to look through my camera for darkvision? Otherwise, if somebody has no means of darkvision, that person can have them.

![]() |

Kultanien see's Faraeon eyeing up the goggles and tosses them to him.
"Have to be able to see it to hit it.."

Freen |

The green-suited Freen collapses to the ground panting, "Oh gods! You all are awesome! How do you deal with such danger so casually?"
Freen hustles over to the console while pulling some tools out of his bag. "Now this is what I'm around for." He then pulls out a small datapad and begins removing the terminal from the desk. After removing the terminal he plugs a series of wires into the wires of the terminal.
Computers: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28

![]() |

"No, but they annoy her." smiles Kultanien.
"Flesh-bots live their lives filled with hormones that drive them crazy, All The Time." she tries to explain.
"I don't think I could live like thta."

Freen |

"Oh," Freen says, obviously relieved. He collects his dropped rifle and checks the magazine inefficiently. He then looks over his rifle. At one point he even holds it so that he can look down the barrel.
"I guess I'm ready to keep going.." he finally says nervously.
The DC to lie to someone is 10 + their Sense Motive, modified by their initial attitude. Because your over level 7 and have skill focus in Bluff, you can just take 10 for a 28.

![]() |

Sounds like a good marching order to me!
Faraeon snatches the goggles out of the air and pulls them down over his head. ”Excellent point, Kultanien! Thanks!”
GM - Moving forward, please assume anytime we enter a room that is in a state of total darkness, Faraeon will activate the dark vision goggles.

![]() |

Sorry, crazy day yesterday with power outages and down internet.
Sunshine stows his rifle, cracks his knuckles, and sets to work alongside Freen on the terminal.
Automatic aid on Computers, if applicable.

![]() |

Computers, Aid: 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 3 = 9
"Drat! I totally broke a nail during that fight."
I think Freen's Computers check is up to, what, 34 right now?
----------
Regarding Bluff, obviously that was more OOC humor, but the default is "Bluff to Lie" vs "Sense Motive to Detect Deception", which is an opposed check. While she could Take 10, you're always better off rolling. 55% chance of getting the same result or better.

GM Wolffauer |

Freen and Sunshine check out the computer, but as soon as they touch it the emergency lights flicker, and there is a sound of static and claws scampering across metal. As the sounds fade, there is a distant whisper, like an unpleasant thought that is trying not to be ignored.
Will Faraeon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Will Lily: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Will Sunshine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Will Freen: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Will Arratoi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Everyone but Sunshine and Faraeon are now feeling "distracted" and take a -2 on all trained skill checks
Freen quickly finishes the work on the computer, a simple unsecured terminal in poor shape. The only file Freen is able to recover seems to be a security memo:
PRIORITY NOTICE. Barachius squadron escalating access requests. Those pixel wings must think they run the place. Monitor and report all activity to security.
Further digging into the computer turns up nothing else, nor does it trigger any additional effects. Where to next?

![]() |

Sunshine looks up in response to the sound. "Seems like we might have a rat problem. Seems on-brand. Any thoughts as to what a 'pixel-wing' might be?"
He arms himself with his rifle again. "My rule for exploring unknown facilities: left is right. Take the left-most door until we hit every room. Sound fair?"

GM Wolffauer |

Re-roll makes the save. The curse is not fear or spell based.

![]() |

"Sounds good. To the left, to the left..." Arratoi hums a catchy little tune to himself as he gets in position.
As we may be going through multiple doors, in order to speed things up, may I propose the following standard PBP door-opening procedure that GM Wolffauer can apply until we hit an encounter of interest?

![]() |

Faraeon could still aid on disabling traps. Since he has Evasion and a pretty decent Reflex save, he would probably be able to avoid the effects of most traps entirely.
Otherwise, I think Arratoi's suggested SOP sounds good!
"Whoa! Spooky place! No surprises there, I guess. You all feelin' alright? You seem kinda...not all here."

Freen |

Something feels off, Freen thinks to himself. I need to be more careful.
I feel weird..., Freen says quietly.
It is only an opposed check if the one(s) being lied to are "suspicious or are attending carefully to the lie"

GM Wolffauer |

Works for me. Once we hear from a few more of the others I'll start the exploration.

![]() |

Sounds good to me.
Kultanien looks distracted. "Anyone else hear that???" she asks anxiously.
"Maybe the pixie wings mean there are still more other creatures here? Or were... a clue as to what happened to the arsenal?"
The white coated Jopsie pipes in with a suggestion..
mysticism?: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 2 = 15 Included the -2, though not sure if it would apply to my ally making the roll

GM Wolffauer |

Getting up from the desk, you head to the first door on the left... Just giving you this one, then following the real left hand rule.
The door looks untampered with, and opens easily when Lily touches the control panel. The room beyond looks to be a security check point of some sort. Inactive cameras and scanners cover the walls and ceiling in this long room. A single control console sits near a vidscreen next to the room's doors The circuitry in the electronics has been corrupted by something, making them worthless.
The second room you explore is much like the first. The scanners seem focused on searching items rather than people here, perhaps to keep unauthorized equipment from entering, or leaving, the facility.
Passing through the check point you come to a dusty room with computer terminals lining most of the walls. Their vidscreens rapidly switch between blank, static, and error codes. The cabinets beneath the computer consoles are littered with ripped and frayed wires, where some equipment was hastily removed.

![]() |

Computers or Engineering to tell what might have been removed?: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Total of 17 for Computers or 20 for Engineering

![]() |

Sunshine peruses the useless machinery to try and determine what happened to them. Take 10 for 26 Computers and 25 Engineering.

![]() |

Kultanien joins in looking around the room.
"I wonder if we could repair this and see what it did? It would be helpful if we could reactivate the security scanners..."
computers(aid): 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 2 = 24

GM Wolffauer |

Faraeon and Sunshine are able to easily determine that this used to be a massive data archive, but someone, or something, has taken all of the storage drives. Sunshine thinks with a little effort you might be able to extract anything that still remains in the system. Computers

![]() |

Faraeon helps Sunshine out with trying to salvage whatever data he can.
Computers (aid): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

![]() |

Computers: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29 +2 Faraeon’s aid
Sunshine steps up to the terminal and begins swiftly cycling through the remaining systems for residual storage. ”Let’s see if the rats left behind any crumbs...”

GM Wolffauer |

As Sunshine speaks the sound of scurrying feet echo once again. The lights dim for a moment and an uneasy feeling of being watched washes over everyone.
Will Faraeon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Will Lily: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Will Sunshine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Will Freen: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Will Arratoi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
The moment passes, and Sunshine is able to investigate what remains of the archives. The most interesting piece is a partial file containing various mission briefings. Handout 1 - See new slide
Correction - Sunshine and Arratoi succeeded last time (and Lily)
Let me know when you are ready to move to the next room
Status
Kultanien - Distracted
Faraeon - Uneasy
Lily - Distracted
Sunshine - Healthy
Freen - Distracted
Arratoi - DistractedDistracted: –2 penalty to trained skill checks.
Uneasy: -2 penalty to trained skill checks, initiative and Perception checks.

"Did you hear that?" says Kultanien looking around.
As the mission log scrolls up the screen she can almost feel a chill run down her artificial spine. "Well, that's not creepy at all. I wonder what else that ship brought back? We should see if we can locate that planet - it sounds as if it might need to be quarantined."

![]() |

Faraeon's blood practically freezes in his veins as he reads the mission reports. "Oh you've got to be kidding me. A ghost ship? Not again! Last time I went on a ghost ship I almost GOT IMPREGNATED AND DIED!"
Faraeon pulls out his semi-auto pistol and holds both weapons primed and ready for lethal force, totally abandoning his typical non-lethal first approach.
Switching arc pistol to lethal damage and drawing my semi-auto pistol.

![]() |

"Then I'm almost worried. Inside voices, please." Sunshine mulls over the log, barely registering the unnerving sounds. "Looks like a series of missions gone wrong. Heavy casualties, unidentified hostile 'subject' wiping out a habitable moon surface. Only a handful of relics recovered to justify it all. Reminds me of home." He shakes his head slightly. "Or the Scoured Stars incident, rather. Brain slip. Yikes." He transfers the file onto his own datapad, then nods to the next left-most door.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

With the in-game events presenting perfect timing and in honor of Star Wars now being out...
Arratoi gets chills up and down his spine as he says, I've got a bad feeling about this...
Ready to move on!

Freen |

Freen remains quiet, looking like a kind of strange humanoid green statue at times. The red gem glow in the center of his helmet giving off a robotic vibe.
Planet, XTR. The sixth moon, XTR6. SB? 45? he thinks to himself. There is a single creature, 'Subject', that is dangerous, can foil sensors. 45....day 45? 45th mission log? Both?
When the group begins moving once more Freen absently follows in line.

![]() |

Lily squints through her scope at all of the surveillance equipment. "I don't like this. I don't like this one bit."
She taps her forearm and a secret compartment opens up. From her Starfinder Backpack she pulls out a sleek, almost ghostlike pistol and slides it into her arm. A moment later, her skin closes up, concealing the device.
Sleight of Hand, Quickdraw Hideaway Limb: 1d20 + 21 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 21 + 2 - 2 = 25

GM Wolffauer |

Preparations finished, the team cautiously enters the next room. A massive metal hatch dominates the northwest corner of this room. Multiple computer terminals—all of them dormant or malfunctioning—crowd the rest of the room.
Before you is an imposing figure, standing in what appears to be sleek, glowing armor and wielding a glowing laser rifle. Its wings appear to be made of pure electricity, though a closer look reveals patterns within the feathery arcs that mimic digital arrays and computer wiring. They raise their rifle, "Who are you, why are you here?" it demands.
Mysticism to identify DC 25

Sunshine responds in a monotone. "I'm guessing you're one of the 'pixel-wings' we read about? Nothing to worry about, we're not here to harm anyone. We're here on behalf of the exo-Guardians, the Starfinder faction that rightfully owns this property. Who are you, and why are you here?"
Sunshine's shobhad merc's brow furrows as he tries to get a read on the mysterious creature.

Arratoi makes a show of pointing his pistol upwards to be non-threatening and chimes in, "Hi there! Don't you worry! We're not hostile. My name is Arratoi. My gruff Rhyphorian friend here is Sunshine Rainbows - yah weird, but true! We've also got here Lily, Freen, Kultanien and Star-Jumper.
"As Mr Rainbow smiles here mentioned, we're Starfinders representing the Exo-Guardians. Have you heard the name Sangoro? He was also a Starfinder who founded the Exo-Guardians. See? We're all friends here!
"We've lost touch with this facility ages ago and only recently rediscovered the location and have come back to scout things out.
"But enough about us! How about you? Who are you and what can you tell us about this place?
