Email troubles

Customer Service

We are having trouble with our email servers.

The difficulties began on Sunday morning and are currently ongoing.

Please use this forum to alert us to any customer service problems that need immediate attention.

If you have other business with Paizo, please try to use other means of communication for the time being.

Hey Rob,

Does this mean anything sent previous to Sunday morning would have been received normally? For instance, I sent out two E-mails (with attachments) to the dungeon@paizo.com address last Friday afternoon. Should they be okay?

Thanks.

Good question.

Anything sent before Sunday should be waiting on our server, but is not currently accessible to your intended recipient.

If anyone has urgent business, please use the phone or use a non-@paizo.com address for communications.

Our apologies for the difficulties. We're doing everything we can to get this solved ASAP.

Chris: I haven't been able to get into the Dungeon email to check; I'll keep an eye out for this one once our mail is back up and running and if I don't see it I'll post here to let you know.

Bumpity bump bump....

This issue should be resolved today, come hell or high water. Argh.

I haven't received any confirmation or reply on a recent order I made with the online store... Could this be why?

Probably not. We do not yet send order confirmation emails upon submitting an order. You should, however, receive an email from our bank referencing your order whenever your credit card is charged.

You can check the status of your order in your "My Account" area.

As many of you have probably noticed, there will be periodic site outages while we work on restoring email service.

Many apologies.

Does this mail outage mean that we'll need to resend stuff from earlier this week to the editors? I'd hate to have my submission sent to Mike McA lost in cyberspace, never to receive a fair shake at making it famous in the magazine. :)

I think we would like to wait to see the condition of our respective inboxes before we render our recommendation in this matter. If you receive an email from Paizo's mail server telling you that an editor's account is not valid, or that his inbox is full, or whatever it might say be prepared to resend your email a couple days after Rob and Gary (who are working diligently on the problem) get our server fixed.

Please, please, please don't flood our inboxes right now when we can't even get to them. It will only slow down the process of us getting back to you when we can. If an email you send one of us bounces, please wait at least a couple days after Rob has posted the resumption of Paizo's emailing ability before you resend your email.

On behalf of the editorial team, thank you for your understanding and patience.

Well, then, I'll apologize now for resending it when it bounced the first time, before I knew there were problems. ;)

Whew.

Well, we should be receiving emails successfully again. However, all of the mail that was sent between Sunday and now is potentially suspect. If you sent us a mail and got a bounce message, that means we didn't get it. Otherwise, we probably did.

Gary and I will have all the employees up and running with access to their accounts later today (Thursday).

'night,
Rob

3am... that's commitment.

:)

That's IT for ya. I've done it before, and it's not pleasant. Kudos Rob and everybody else who put in the overtime getting this fixed.

Yes. Thanks for all your hard work IT guys. We appreciate all you do.

Contributor

I don't appreciate it one bit!!!

Well, ok, I guess I do.

Thanks, guys!

If I don’t say that I appreciate it are you going to mess with my account for spite? :) Just to be safe, thanks guys, and good work!

I got a few things done this week and unfortunately sent 3 emails with various articles. Sorry about that Mike! Didn’t mean to help flood your inbox (I just barely noticed this thread)!

Don't worry William, as Rob said anything you sent between Sunday and this morning is suspect, and in fact I haven't received a single email from you.

Everyone: I've received only a handful of emails from any contributors this week, so if you haven't received a reply from me by now I didn't get yours. I don't know the state of Wes's or Jason's inboxes, but I think Wes said he got quite a few emails so it sounds like his came through better than mine.

Rob and Gary: You guys ROCK! :)

Just doing our thing.

Well... technically... Vic's thing. But he's on a beach in Florida somewhere. : )

And yes, this *always* happens as soon as Vic leaves town. : ]
