A bunch of the guys and gals from Paizo are arriving at Gen Con Indy today. Me, I'm still here in good old Bellevue, WA.
Long story short, I want to hear all about the convention. So let's get these brand new messageboards started off with a big helping of Gen Con info!
If you are at Gen Con this weekend, feel free to dish out the Gen Con dirt right here!
How is D&D's 30th anniversary being celebrated?
Great new products?
Cool events?
Celebrities?

Hi, Robert! I just wanted to stop in and congratulate you guys on your new message forums - looks cool! I'm a vbulletin fan myself, but these work well too! :D
I guess I'll have more to say as new Dragons roll out, I admit I haven't even seen the first one yet (#323). I'll have more to say then.
Good fortunes to you, Erik, Matt, and everyone else!

Thanks very much, ENHenry!
These boards are home-grown. We're really happy with them so far and will continue to improve them as they grow up. : )
Hopefully, you'll see 323 soon. Opinions will vary, but personally, I love it and am very excited about what the Dragon and Dungeon staff have been up to. : )

I managed to hit both the "Writing for Dragon" and "Writing for Dungeon" seminars, and they were very interesting and super helpful! I got to meet Matt Sernett, Erik Mona, Wes Schneider and James Jacobs. They told me how sweet my upcoming "Ecology of the Duergar" was going to look, and were really nice guys. I think that was probably the highlight of the con for me. The only downside was that Mike McArtor wasn't there. :-( Next year!!!
The 30th anniversary Party in the Plaza got moved indoors due to inclement weather, and was very hot, noisy and crowded as a result. We scored some free swag (t-shirts, cups and canvas bags!) and then regrouped at Hooters.
Celebrities...I got to meet Rich Burlew finally, and he introduced me to Keith and Ellen Baker. That was a party and a half (wonderful guys!). I also got to meet Chris Perkins, Sean K. Reynolds, and Ed Greenwood.
Not enough time to do everything I wanted. I didn't hit the dealer's room more than once or twice for about a half-hour total, so I didn't see many new products. But the whole weekend was a blast. I will definitely go next year!

Cool! Glad to hear the good feedback on our seminars. We do have a great staff, don't we?

Yay, a fan! :)
Yes, I plan on being there next year, come Hades or high water. ;D I'm sure Wes and Matt did an exceptional job on the seminar, and I hear that James Jacobs (Dungeon's associate editor) sat in on it. That can only lead to hilarity. :D
...
Did anybody make it to the Paizo booth? I heard that was quite an experience in itself. :)

James Jacobs did sit in on the seminar, as did Erik Mona. It would have been more hilarity-filled I think had we all not been so extraordinarily sleep deprived.
I did go to the Paizo booth, to grab a subscription to Amazing Stories. I now have a Dungeon t-shirt to go with my Dragon t-shirt that I work out in. ;-) The funny thing is, the guy manning the Paizo booth was the same guy who was manning it when I visited it at Origins - and we recognized each other! Small world, eh?

I forgot to mention the best part of the weekend was the "Writing for Dungeon" seminar. At the end, Erik Mona asked if there were any last questions, and I put my hand up and said, "Is it true your home computer is an Aptiva?" He thought I was a mind-reader. :-D (really I'd just read it in his interview on Silven Crossroads). It was pretty funny.

My first GEN CON was awesome. On the last day I won the Eberron Campaign Book at WotC booth, but you guys put the Icing on the Cake. I signed up for Dragon and Dungeon Mags (Free t-shirts!) and entered the drawing on Friday. You had to be at the drawings to win. They would draw like 10 cards before someone won. Anyways at Friday's drawing no dice, I didn't win. Every card they picked, I'm thinking, "Please be me." And then be disappointed when my name was not called. Again on Saturday and again I didn't win. Sunday at 3:30 they picked around twenty cards before they had a winner. Each time, "Please pick me", each time disappointment when I didn't hear my name, each time the "winner" was not there, so I get excited again. Finally they call the name of someone that is there and it is me. I took my loot and headed over to AEGs booth. AEG was giving out a free t-shirt to anyone who bought the book. I tolded the guy there that I just won the "World's Largest Dungeon" and he gave me one the the shirts. What a way to end GENCON.

I thought Paizo did a nice job at Gen Con. Great booth, and I really appreciated getting a chance to review Amazing Stories and Undefeated in the attendee bag. Neither of them are available at my FLGS.
I already subscribe to both Dungeon and Dragon, so as a loyal subscriber, I was a little disappointed that there weren't more accomodations made for t-shirts for those of us who already are subscribers. ;-)

That was me and it was a pleasure chatting with you again at GenCon.
