Must Have Pathfinder Supplement

5/5

The Magus Spell Deck is a must have supplement, especially for new or casual players.

This is how you use this product:

1) Pick the spells of a certain level you want.
2) Find the spells in the PDF and record the page number, in the order you desire. Example, "43, 96, 161, 189, 192, 204" which is “Color spray, Frostbite, Shocking Grasp, Unerring Weapon, Vanish, Warding Weapon” in that order.
3) Printing: When you print, in the Print dialog, find “pages to print”. Copy and paste the list of pages you created in step #2. Find a printer where you can print multiple pages per sheet of paper, and select printing 9 pages per sheet of paper (3 by 3). You should have 9 spells per page.

The Magus Spell Deck is complete (as far as I can tell) and contains all Magus spells from Ultimate Magic and (the majority of) Magus spells from Ultimate Combat.

The only thing I’d change about this product is perhaps making the borders smaller, decreasing the margins and using as much space as possible for text. When this is done, increase the size of the text (for at least some of the shorter spells).

This is a great product and its been extremely helpful to me, especially when I’m trying to help new or casual players with spells. I've also used it when GMing and I need a reminder on 1-2 NPC spells. It's also been useful for conventions, because I can just print the spells I need (or have trouble remembering).

Great product.

Has anyone bought this product? I'm looking to see how it compares to Perram's Spellbook? My goal is to print these off and have them laminated so I basically have a 'Spellbook Deck' of cards. Compare them to Power Cards if you want. I don't care.

Actually Perram supplies LPJ Design with the raw text data to make the cards while we handle the design directly in house.

This. Perram's Spellbook would not be possible without the hard work Mike has done to create the Spell DB. I try to point that out every time I promote my project, and on its site (http://www.theGM.org)

I would also like to say for the record that while LPJ Designs uses my site (which uses Mike's Data from d20pfsrd.com), I am in no way connected to this product or partnered with LPJ Designs.

Mike puts in an insane amount of time and effort and all that he asks in return is credit for his labor. I haven't looked at the spell cards but since we have an OGL statement on d20pfsrd.com explicitly indicating how to credit him, I'm assuming that's in the spell cards correctly.

Actually as asked by Perram, we stated the credits as follows:

Looks on the up and up to me then :)

In that case, I highly appreciate everything you guys do. Each and every one of you. I purchased this, printed and laminated these, and they've made my sessions a whole lot easier when it comes to Spell Sorting. When finances allow, I look forward to purchasing the rest.

Thank you to LPJ, Perram, and Mike for everything you guys do to help us out. I know you aren't 'affiliated' with each other, but your work is still appreciated.

So, what I have gathered from reading this is that Mike took the information for the spells printed by Paizo and made a Data Base for it so people could easily look everything up. Perram took Mike's Data Base and tured it into a series of cards that one could print out on Regular paper and trim, or just print on index cards (I use these all the time) and all of this was for free. Now LPJ has basically done the same thing that Perram did, only charging 2.99 for it, and I still have to print them myself. I don't mean to bash the products or the web sites, I'm just trying to figure out the incentive for me to purchase this product.

The best incentive I would say is, do you think this spell deck would be useful to you in your gameplaying? If you feel that other services currently do what you are looking for, I would say use them. If you think my cards bring something more to the table, then I would say use The Ultimate Spell Deck line. It really comes down to what you think is useful or not. Hope you find what you are looking for.

After purchasing this spell deck, I find that it lacks anything that makes it even slightly worth the $2.99. Okay, sure there could be the argument that time and labor are thrown in to the price and I won't argue that. However, the lack of decent imagery or, in my opinion, imagination in the final design of the card leaves one wanting.

With the negative said, I'll focus in positive light now. The cards are fairly cheap (though outshined by Perram) and can be printed with little changes made to the print layout.

Overall, I like the product but find with a little work I can get the same If not better result for less effort and I'd still have $3 to spend on something else. I like your work on occasion, L, but I got to give this a 2 out of 5.

Well do me a favor and send me a copy of your receipt from where you purchased it to my email (LMPjr007 at Gmail) and I will refund you your money via Paypal or offer you double what you paid in credit to any LPJ Design products. Just let me know which you would prefer. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

No need Louis. I still use the product but I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. It shows just the type of person you are - which is the type I prefer to consort with. Besides, even though it wasn't my cup of tea, I forgot to add that it is one of my players.
