September 2010 News and Updates
September 30, 2010
Ok; several updates. Tsar 5 is loaded and wil be posted Saturday or Sunday. I will not be able to send an email on this, as I am out of town with no internet all weekend. Fane of the Fallen is done (for PFRPG) and is in layout for S&W. Splinters of Faith 1-2 are next up in layout. All hail Chuck!
The Complete Rulebook is almost done, art is due Saturday and then its next. I am also pleased to announce two additional module series--names still in the works. One will be a series of Norse themed adventures by Ken Spencer, and the other will be hex crawls--literally hex crawls. These are by John Stater of Nod fame (http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/nod-%231/11387029?productTrackingCon text=search_results/search_shelf/center/4, old school at its finest). These have a look and feel of the old JG stuff; but are totally portable into any campaign. Both series will be in S&W and PFRPG format of course, with a low price point and 8-10 modules. More on this soon.
In other news, by popular demand, we are going to start selling module versions of Tsar chapters as well. I am only printing a few of these--maybe 100-150. Tsar 1-5 modules are at the printer and will retail from $9.99 to $13.99 depending on size. They will be on sale in mid-October. Really these are for the collectors out there, and for those folks who want a play set to go with their limited edition hardcover or decided not to buy a hardcover. Seemed cheesy to me to do these, but I got over 30 requests, so I listened.
Lots of stuff (Strange Bedfellows, Splinters, Complete Rulebook, Fane, Tsar 6, etc.) is coming out very soon!

Well looks like I know what I will be buying next week.
You know, I'm surprised some 3PP's haven't slapped you a reoccurring offer as a preferred reviewer for their upcoming releases. I know I'm not the only one when I say that I specifically pay attention when I see you post one up as you say how it is without showing a presumed biased because it may have come to you at no cost.

Some of them do. I have gotten a few free things from most of the companies. Rite Publishing pretty much sends me everything and most of the rest at least send me some stuff. But as i told them, I have no problem buying stuff on my own. Just means sometimes it takes me awhile to get it.
Also I am still trying to accept that people pay attention to my reviews.

He enjoys that to much, try with holding the whip unless he writes faster. Works for me. :)

@Urizen not to derail this thread but... I just reviewed Trick Owlbears Achievement Feats and I don't like those kinds of feats. So hopefully my personal biased was also left out of it. I am always concerned about doing a good job on reviews, but more nervous about this one cause I know I am baised.
On a side note and to bring the topic back to FGG. I am working on reviews for Demonheart and The Eamonvale Incursion. I hope to have at least one of them reviewed sometime next week and the other to follow a week or two after.

Yeah that just boggles my mind and seems so surreal to me. :)

tsathogga wrote:Tsar 5 is up on our site--and will be here very shortly as well!Would it be possible to send out an email to subscrbers with a link when it's convenient? I'm deploying, and the email that has the link to the host you use is on my desktop.
Go Here and click the buyer tab, then enter your email and password to get to the download area. Bill said he wasn't going to be able to send emails out as he was out of town over the weekend. There was also some issues on the download providers end which delayed a lot of the peoples downloading the product.

Lots of updates today. The Tsar individual modules arrived in the mail today, and will be up for sale shortly. I am doing final edits of Splinters of Faith Parts 1-2 and those along with Fane and Tsar 5 hit the printer next week. Matt has sent the Complete rulebook to Chuck for layout, and Strange Bedfellows layout drafts are in process. Next up is Ursined, followed by others. Its been a busy month.
Also to note, cover art, pricing and a few other details have been added to the site for Bedfellows, Splinters, the Complete Rulebook and Fane of the Fallen.
Lots of announcements of January releases soon!

Its been tested!!! The postage cart now works, and should be up (allowing Tsar 1-4 to be ordered easily) by Friday. Thank you all for your patience (especially you Ryan). Books will ship Monday. In other news, Splinters, Fane and Tsar 5 are at the printer. Chuck is layout out the rulebook and Bedfellows. Ursined is next.
I am going to take pre-orders of Fane and Splinters next week, but will not ship until the rulebook ships. Hard to release a book when the rulebook is not out yet. Besides, I want a few surprises about the new rules to be secret for now. I am out of town until Friday, so email etc. will not be accessable until then.

Tsar 1-4 softcover modules are up for sale. Fane, Tsar 5, and Splinters 1-2 are at the printer and should arrive before the end of the month. Final layout of the S&W rulebook and Bedfellows is in process. Look for a "for sale" on all these soon, with shipping of all the new books around November 5. The hardcover limited edition rulebook will be for sale soon as well, but will not likely ship until December. Shipping is still a bit messed up (fix it soon) but I bandaided the ability to buy Tsar 1-4 modules a s aset.

It occurred to us today that November could be a very expensive month for our fans. In reponse to that, I am going to release Fane of the Fallen and Splinters of Faith books 1-2 early. November will see Splinters 3-4, Strange Bedfellows, possibly Ursined Sealed and Delivered, and most importantly the Complete S&W Rulebook.
I normally do not pre-release modules until the rules are out, but I wanted to give folks the opportunity to break up their order costs into 2 1/2 months rather than all at once. Pathfinder releases are of course unaffected.
Thanks to all of you for your (extremely loyal) orders. Our company is doing great, and your patronage is going to allow us to produce lots more books. Now, just wait until you see the One Night Stands cover...Rowena has it 80% done. News coming next week on The Northlands (Viking style series, think 13th warrior) and Hex Crawl Classics (those of you who like Judges Guild style adventure will be pleased with this series (and if you have not purchased NOD yet, go to Lulu and do so!).
I am doing my best to keep price point lower than industry standard. You guys are making that possible.

Okay, so if you haven't noticed already, Frog God Games, that sleepy little vehicle used to finally get Slumbering Tsar published, has kicked it into gear and is pushing/is about push a lot of stuff that's been int he pipeline for awhile.
Slumbering Tsar 1-5 have been released on pdf and ST6 should be up in the next week or so. Also soft covers of Tsar 1-4 are now for sale with ST5 in soft cover just around the corner and ST6 and the rest to follow.
Oh and, apparently ST is getting the Swords & Wizardry conversion treatment as well and will be available for that game system at some point in the near future (this was news to me)! So all you old-old school fans have something else to sink your teeth into.
Fane of the Fallen and Splinters of Faith, two adventures written for Necromancer Games, like Slumbering Tsar and others, and then lost in the shuffle have now been updated to PF RPG and S&W and made available in soft cover and pdf versions.
Plus the Saturday Night Specials, One Night Stands, Northlands Saga, and Hexcrawl Classics adventure series are being released imminently in both PF RPG and S&W.
Oh, and a little book called the Swords & Wizardry Complete Rulebook gets released in limited edition hardback in November.
Check 'em out here at Paizo, at talesofthefrog.com, or at DriverThru RPG.

P.S. This is still unofficial, but FGG is also in talks about possibly inking a deal with a little-known author that goes by the name Pett. ;-)
Ok, now I've been fighting spending more money, since I spend too much here, but if this happens I think my Will save is going to be intentionally failed...again (happened with the Vaughan item as well =p).

Nice move on having the first part for 2$ :P It was a great read.
*Enjoys his nice new PDF subscription.*
I think this might be my next campaign after my players are done with Kingmaker. :)
Too bad I can't download from Paizo now as I like having my downloads in fewer places, but the price was worth it.

Welcome aboard, and glad you liked it. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts/experiences as you read through or even GM the follow up chapters (plus maybe a running PC body count). ;-)

Thanks. I upgraded to a premium sub even, the book was too tempting. :)
I won't have time to read through the rest yet, though, as my master's thesis due is next week (which means I shouldn't even be on here...), but I'm looking forward to it.Do you have any recommendations on where to put this in Golarion by any chance? I searched around, but couldn't find anyone else asking about it.

Greg A. Vaughan Frog God Games |
Masters thesis? Shouldn't let that eat into your gaming. ;-)
I pitched this as a Golarion series to Paizo a few years back and suggested just off the map east of Taldor and south of Iobaria. I even worked up a map of western Casmaron to cover it. I'll have to dig it up sometime.
Ultimately it is not campaign specific, but you can certainly place it in Golarion. East of Taldor might still be a good bet if you work the Great Crusade in with Taldor's own history of crusades and Armies of Exploration.
Good luck on the thesis. Always remember the answer is "C".

Any idea why the file size on this is so large? Sixty pages came in at 70+ mb. Comparing that to some of my other pdf adventures it seems a bit on the "big" side.
Large image files which look even better if you export (with SomePdf, Adobe Reader or similar) them to view in 100% size. E.g. the image on page 4 (part 6) is 2505x1628 at ~6mb. Same with the maps.
It varies a bit between the parts, though.

As Leonal said it is the image file sizes. They have the same problem on their web page. They have these huge fantastic images. Which is great but they only shrink them down instead of resize them.
I would love if they resized all the images but then added a full sized image gallery to their web page.
