A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st- through 2nd-level characters, playable in 2-3 hours.

Under the leadership of First Seeker Sarmak, the Starfinder Society has established a fledgling lodge in Akiton’s Sloughscar Hills to study a massive, crashed starship known as the Wreck of the Returned. The Starfinder Society isn’t the only group interested in the Wreck. In addition to countless freelancers and independent salvagers, three prominent factions have arisen and are clashing at every turn: the Aspis Consortium, a coalition of local Akitonian salvagers, and a government sanctioned delegation from the planet Aballon. With an eye to improving relations, Sarmak has invited representatives from each of these factions to meet on neutral ground to come to terms.

When danger threatens to disrupt the Sloughscar Summit, it’s up to the Starfinder Society to keep the peace.

This is an adventure in the ongoing Invasion's Edge metaplot.

    Better Influence than Most

    4/5

I'll go on record here and say: I don't like the influence subsystem. I don't think it works well in an Organized Play setting, and seems designed for longer campaigns, where points can be gained here and there across multiple sessions.

That being said, this was the most solid implementation of that subsystem in a scenario to date, including every PFS scenario I've seen it in. It doesn't really overstay its welcome, like others do, and the rewards for getting influence are actually useful in the short-term!

I still don't feel like the system works well in short time frames like this, but this one at least wasn't awful.

The rest of the scenario was solid, though! Interested to see where this story goes.

This is the first scenario that mentions the metaplot in the description, but is it the first part of the metaplot? Or does the metaplot start with an earlier scenario?

The first meta-plot is technically 1.00 (3rd level pregens only). The first meta-plot you can play with your own character is 1.01.

But Booth says 1st to 2nd lvl characters. Does this mean that you need to play both scenarios with different characters?

Let me start by saying, the answer is complicated.

"1st to 2nd lvl" is just the level range for characters that can play the scenario. For example, a 3rd level character could not be played in a scenario with the level range of 1st or 2nd lvl.

Each scenario gives the equivalent of 1/3 of the experience to get to the next level.

Any character cannot play the same scenario multiple times.

So long as a character is in the level range and has not previously played the scenario, they can play the scenario.

1.00 is special. It cannot be played with a character that you create. It must be played with a character pregenerated for that scenario(special).

--> Therefore, the answer to your question is essentially yes. Because 1.00 is special in that way.

However the credit of the play of that scenario can go to a character that has played 1.01 and vice versa.

(P.S. If you want to get really technical, the answer is kind of no because you can play the same pregen character with the level 1 version of the pregen character in 1.01.)

If this explanation was more confusing than helpful, please let me know.

    Probably a better explanation:
In society, "character" can refer to either the 'character sheet' or the 'character number' -- where the credit for the play of each scenario is attached. Very often they are synonymous, but not always.

Some scenarios, like 1.00, require the use of specific pregenerated characters. That said, the credit for the play of those scenarios still goes to a character number.

So, the same character number can receive credit for both 1.01 and 1.00, but the character sheet will be different.
