Mongrels

Wrath of the Righteous

I'm thinking of changing the mongrelmen underneath Kenebras into tieflings. It makes more sense to me that the demonic influence of the Abyss would warp humans into tieflings than it does for them to become mongrels.

What sort of impact do you think this change would have on the AP? Is there anything I'm missing? Is there something about the "radioactive" properties of the Worldwound that produces mongelmen?

The only thing that it'll change is take some of the variety out of the campaign. There's a LOT of tieflings in Wrath of the Righteous, and while having the mole people below Kenabres be tieflings makes absolute sense, I went with having them be mongrelfolk because we haven't used them a lot lately and thus they really help give the start of the adventure a more unique feel.

Thanks for the response, James.

It also helps differentiate them from the looters. Down below you have mongrelfolk who'd been driven down because of persecution but who, mostly, have remained true to the Crusade. But the tieflings above are succumbing to their demonic heritage and looting or joining the demonic horde in Kenabres (at least).

I think there's an easier way to tell them apart than Racism (j/k...s).

If they're carrying stuff that doesn't belong to them, smack 'em.

By the end, the PCs are very lively carrying stuff that doesn't belong to them. Like stuff they took after they killed someone.
