I gotta say, I just now tried this out after picking it up on a whim. I sketched out my maps on standard graph paper, transferred them to the big squares, and I gotta say; they look better than anything I've ever been able to do on a battlemat.
First off, with battlemats you're limited to whatever colors of wet / dry erase markers you're able to find. With the paper, I can dig into my vast array of sharpies and prismacolor markers and put some real detail into the maps.
Second [and I think a couple folks pointed this out], the paper doesn't bleed or smudge like battlemats. You can move minis around without messing up your nice map or ending up with "rainbow fingers."
One thing that I did notice about the paper, though; you need to make sure that you wash your hands well before drawing on it. My first map ended up with oily fingerprints etched into the edges. Use a cover sheet while you're drawing, and you'll prevent any discoloration. I'd also recommend using an acrylic sheet to protect your maps once you're done.
All said, it's a good product if you like to make detailed, hand-drawn maps for your players. If you're more of a quick-and-dirty "sketch it up on the fly" kind of GM, then stick with battlemats.

Just as a side note, there is nothing wrong with blowing through paper. We grow paper on FARMS. The rain forest isn't being chopped down for paper it's being mutilated for cattle grazing land, and for furniture. Paper use is not something you need to feel bad about, and when someone tries to act like they are eco-friendly because they have a
electric hand dryer, or they erase the same piece of paper 100million times, tell them to stop eating at mcdonald's if they really care.

I have found a use for this...But..
My question to those who own this, how well does it stay flat? I know how much something that is rolled likes staying rolled.

For maps that you may use multiple times, buy some foam board, spray some 3M 77 glue on the board and then have a friend help you stick the paper to it. I have made some amazing maps this way. I have just bought three more rolls.
My only suggestion - Please make it in light green for forests and grass lands and also in light grey for dungeons.
Awesome product!
