2 people marked this as a favorite.

Cover image added—a very pretty Kyra, I might say.

I feel like there's a Rennaisance art reference here that I should be getting.

It really looks like it could be an in-setting piece of art.

After looking at all the Pathfinder 4 covers, this is my favorite. Maybe I'll add it to my cart to come with the Paizo exclusive cover (which is not wowing me like this one is).

I think that it is a parody or homage to an Icon. That's Icon in the Orthodox Christianity sense, not in the "pop icon" sense.

*shudders* My apologies for linking to Wikipedia.

Not parody, but certainly an homage to that particular style.

I like it, too. Use Google images for "Byzantine Christ" or "Byzantine saint" and you'll see hundreds in the same style.

Is this the cover that comes with the single-issue subscription or is this a newsstand-only cover?

Grand Lodge

On page 14 (not including cover or inside cover) Harsk asks Merisiel to scout ahead.

Unfortunately the "Certainly!" word bubble is coming from Seoni, not Merisiel.

I can see the resemblance, though :)

(PS: I got this cover. It's BEAUTIFUL!)

Lovely. And it captures the same sad beauty as much of Orthodox art. My favorite cover yet.

It's a beautiful picture, and I really like the homage to Orthodox art, but... I thought Kyra was black?

Kyra is Keleshite, so her skin and features are much more akin to those of real-world Persian or Arabic people. Perhaps you're thinking of Seelah, the iconic paladin, who is Garundi?

Ah, okay, that makes more sense, then. My reaction was based on the original illustrations I'd seen of Kyra by Wayne Reynolds, where she seems to have a darker skin tone and different facial structure (I remembered Kyra because I had played her once in a Pathfinder session of Rise of the Runelords).

Sarenrae's priestess made to look like an eastern orthodox icon... The saddest fail i have seen this year. Erik Jones, please don't draw Kyra ever again.
