How is the kineticist's darkness infusion substance infusion wild talent supposed to work?

(I love using the kineticist class' official terminology when making thread titles; it clearly shows how ridiculously wordy they can get.)

The darkness infusion says the following:
Treat each square of the path of your ranged attack kinetic blast, the target square of your melee attack kinetic blast, or the area of your area of effect kinetic blast as the center of a darkness effect...

Darkness, like every single area-of-effect spell in the game, has its point of origin centered on a grid intersection.

How then, is the area of darkness for this infusion supposed to be adjudicated properly?

Do I choose a corner of each square and treat that as the origin? Or perhaps all corners are the origin? If this creates multiple darkness effects with multiple points of origin, does that mean there are multiple overlapping darkness effects? That might make it harder to dispel the darkness.

As written, this infusion (and by extension the greater darkness infusion substance infusion wild talent) does not mesh well with existing game rules, and as such I can't help but think there will be significant table variation on how it would be run.

It works just like the opposite of brilliant infusion. It's an enormous darkness, and that sentence describes how to determine its area. Granted, it's probably not worth it for someone else to dispel it since it's gone next round anyway.


Is there any way to make it last longer than a round?

Well, there's enough information for groups to "rough it" I guess, but it's next to useless to anyone playing on a grid where precise positioning matters.

Any chance you could give us some example diagrams for these infusions in action?
