I know I can get it with a feat, I know the Mysterious Avenger can get it, and i know the fighter can get it in the flail weapon group. And half-orcs and hobgoblins have alternative racial traits that give them the ability to be proficient with whips.

is there any other class archetypes that one can dip into to get whip proficiency?

not as in AoOs. my DM does not allow for AoO at all. Everything from the chicken and up if he uses it knows how to combat like a master. I want to make something that counters attacks. That guy attacks you you can get a shot in before said attacks resolved. something like that. But I can't find anything on counter attacking. other than counter combat style which gives +2 AC nothing about allowing one free counter attacks. reposte allows you to chose a target to counter if it attacks you. And knowing my GM he would just not attack me with said target and mow me over with a new target.

I was thinking a human Racial Heritage (Orc) fighter (swordlord) that may work into dualist who uses both sword and grappling hook picking up the hook-fighter feat to use it. throw in mixed combat quick draw and quick sheath and Reverse-Feint. and all the prerequisites (toughness off the top me head is one) feats and combat reflexes. ohh and the counter combat styles.

what else could be used?

also thinking of combining the hook and pull fighter to this build. so escaping the counters will be impossible.

like Roadhog(overwatch) or scorpion(mortal combat). can a grappling hook as a weapon? or to be able to yank some flyer out of the air. maybe the fighter?

I been looking at it and looking at it and not really feeling it at all. what exactly does the bard do that makes it amazing? sure he can sing and dance and then you make a roll and depending on that roll you can buff your party members.

which would be most useful? I am thinking about the "voice of the wild" bard archtype. And it lets the bard choose spells from those other spell lists.

can someone link me to where I can read this information on d20pfsrd or Archives of Nethys?

My hex DC is 18. evil eye is a mind effect spell. I can't seem to get it off either the creature is immune, has an ability which reflects the ability back on my witch, or is some sorta creature that is immune to mind effects. so what kinds of creatures are immune to the evil eye hex since it is a mind/mental effect? aberrations? plants? mindless undead and constructs?

and I am wondering which one would be the goat demon or devil one. I lack the time at this moment to search each entry for the one I want now. Quick help would be cool. thanks.

invisibility or invisibility like abilities?

I must know. because my GM either coddles us the players or enjoys tormenting us.he will ask us how much health we have and decide how many people can attack you. either way, I don't much like that way of playing very much. sometimes I think it would be better if he just killed our PCs so we and he would learn something.most the time its the GM throwing impossible odds at us than saving us with gm interventions which to me does not feel very heroic.

so that my party members won't notice it. the item I want to lose and not have another party member just pick up is a "ring of exicator" or something like that. It turns the wear into a 7th Lvl warpriest that hates the undead has magic heal others armor, a +10 sword, and an enchanted fire shield. the party is Lvl 7 and we are in a quasi-low magic realm. and this is the dm and dm's pet's attempt to force me to place a class I don't want to play as my pc. I am playing a debuffing spellcaster that I am enjoying-ish. but she can't do hand to hand combat which for the last three sessions he has been forcing her into to force her to use the ring. at least that's how I feel and the ring is very OP.

how do I go about losing this item?

a creature that enters your space provokes an attack of opportunity. but if he stops in it then he is safe? here is how I see that "the orc/cow/monster runs at you with the intent to attack you but at the last moment it stops and cautiously five-foot steps in and enters combat"

my witch is LVL 7 and has a 20 in int. that means my DC for my hexes is 18. Is there a way to improve that with feats? I have the evil eye, misfortune, and slumber. I can never get misfortune to go off.

so when praying is not enough, and you need to grab the attention of god.

now is that a charisma roll? is there a way to improve that roll without killing something or yourself?

with all that praying that is going on and you need to get your call across to god. like all the gods are gathered in a room bound and gagged and about to be executed. how would you b%$&$ slap your god and let him/her know that you're an open vessel and willing to take their place. you know that kind of important of a call. how would we go about doing that?

this man may or may not have murdered up to fifty of my clansmen. and even if he has not killed them I still wish to punish this man for banditry, murder, raiding other villages, and he is a known assassin. he is in the stalks right now. and he basicly already has his tongue cut out. I want to punish him and the town by making him deaf and blind. would that be going too far? do you need more information?

he is a really bad guy. that the sheriff is protecting. so I can't just kill him outright.

play as a human for the extra feat that will give 5 feats put most of those into extra evolution. lets just say your playing a lvl 7 summoner.

depending on how many feats you have used for "extra evolution" you will have 10+ evolution points to spend if you make it.

lets make it quad based so it can snag the pounce and rend evolutions everyone likes those.

give it some claws, some bleed, and gore. toss in some improved damage. and you will want to give it an unnatural aura because despite it's bunny appearance its scary as heck. thats 9 points so far. i would like to give it Fiendish Appearance but you have to be Eeeeevil. which is a shame since making a pact with a evil being seems like something a foolish summoner would do. Frightful Presence would be cool as well.

feat wise the eidolon gets 3 so.....

blood feast because you know it fits,
Improved Natural Attack because more damage,
and power attack because when in doubt grab power attack.

this is just me grabbing stuff to make something i saw and thought would be cool.
so can you do it better? and how many feats does the summoner need to put into extra evolution?

Well if you have read the books. There are times when Harry is drained. So he drains the heat from his surroundings to power a fire spell. So I am thinking of making a dual energy fireball spell. It fires out like a frost beam sapping the heat from everything in its path. Creating a frost path between the spell caster and the target point. At which point all the stolen heat is released in a fireball like explosion.
Possibly having damage attached to the range the spell has to travel with minimum amounts and maximum amounts applying.
Is there such a thing as heat damage? not fire. any better ideas suggestions or improvements? Would this spell be to strong if it did damage like a fireball for the explosion part and like a d6 of frost dmg to each squire traveled through?

there's change and replaces and how it was explained to me is that if two archetypes alternate the same class feature then they can not stack. (not by the dm)

now I am playing a witch. a winter witch to be specific and it alters the witch's familiar class feature making it where you can only select cold region dwelling familiars. it does not change the familiar in anyway. nor give it any special abilities or give the Pc any special abilities. unlike the beast-bond witch or the alley witch.
then there's the ley line and it gets rid of the familiar class feature all together.

so the question is do these two archetypes stack? or do they not because both archetypes touch on the familiar class feature. one by restricting what you can choose as a familiar and the other by removing the archetype.

... I have been using it as a mount. and it has weapon finesse weapon, focus (gore), and mauler's endurance. I was wondering what feat you would suggest?

This is a home game.
And i am not allowed to use 3pp.

I was thinking maybe improved natural armor or Evolved Familiar for pounce. but the feat that gives extra HP per lvl like 3 for the first three lvls then 1 extra for every lvl after. I can't remember the name of that feat.

is there anyway to implant a plant into your body. feat wise. or would this thing only be a RP thing you would have to work out with your gm?

Well, what advice/tactics can you freely give to improve your game? that's it give me and other knowledge you have gathered. it's a broad stroke but you can't paint a wall with out taking that first stroke.

let me give the first one just to get it out of the way so it will not come up again.

if you are not having fun. no game is better then a bad game. run away. I see this one a lot.

if Druidic is a secret language. and they kill anyone who learns it. and you stop being druid if you teach anyone. so where do baby druids come from? >.> apprentice druids. this is not a conversation about the birds and bees... i mean you can't teach them the secret if you do you can't be a druid any longer and if they learn it they die so the secret is kept.

so where do baby druids come from?

just need to figure out a defense against my GM's targeting. and I am thinking invisibility might be the route to saving my pc's life. what hexs? that's a good knowledgeable person #396773. my pc has evil eye and misfortune. I built my pc to be a debuffer and if I am attacking or casting spells I am not fulfilling my purpose. something that has been dawning on me over the last couple sessions. something else I noticed and kinda worries me is that my pc is a sitting duck in combat. I tried to compensate by having a mauler familiar that my pc can ride on. but but it screams shoot/stab/spell me to death when ever it tries to fill that role.

so do hexs count as attacks?

1.)is there a spontaneous casting class that is not based on cha?
2.)with sorcerer as the base is there a better spontaneous casting class and reason why?
3.) not a question but no 3pp please.

monster component parts? maybe some descriptions of what parts do what. like dragon scales can be used as spell components or the heart of a slime can be used as the focal point of a rod of WORLD DOMINATION MUHAHAHAHAHAHa *cough* sorry bout that >.>. the point is while the party is looting the treasure why cant they loot the bodies of powerful or strange magical creatures. my group is very much "if it is not in the books it can not exist. really cuts down on the creative imagination of playing a tabletop role playing game. the thyroid glands of a fire lizard can be used in bullets to create firballets. >.>

but I think I am looking for them with the wrong name. I am searching for ratfolk figurines and I can't find any anywhere. is there another name they go by?

feats for martial PC's that roll a lot of 1-3s for damage. I enjoy the game a lot. but when it comes to combat I feel a lot of dissatisfaction and that's because i tend to roll low. I could always play a casting class because at what ever level they can start casting spells with the metamagic feat "Maximize Spell". as much as i would like to play one at later levels there is no way my spell caster would live long enough to get to that level. so i was wondering since spell casters can maximize their damage is there a way for a martial class to boost/maximize his or her damage so a player who sucks at rolling can enjoy the rigors of combat?

just for the abilities. 3 lvls verdant bloodline sorcerer/ 5 lvls reincarnated druid/ 1 lvl Green Faith Acolyte up to lvl 3.

verdant sorcerer gives you the ability: Photosynthesis (Ex): At 3rd level, you feed upon nature’s raw essence. Your need to eat and sleep is reduced as if wearing a ring of sustenance, and you gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws made against poison and sleep effects.
(ring of sustenance: This ring continually provides its wearer with life-sustaining nourishment. The ring also refreshes the body and mind; its wearer needs only sleep 2 hours per day to gain the benefit of 8 hours of sleep.)

reincarnated druid gets: Many Lives (Ex): At 5th level, if a reincarnated druid is killed, she may automatically reincarnate (as the spell) 1 day later. The reincarnated druid appears in a safe location within 1 mile of her previous body. At will for the next 7 days, she can sense the presence of her remains as if using locate object as a spell-like ability. If she is killed during these 7 days, she remains dead and does not reincarnate.

Green Faith acolyte gets: Hibernate (Su) At 3rd level, a Green Faith acolyte can enter a state of suspended animation as a full-round action. This state is similar to the effect of sepia snake sigil, except that the Green Faith acolyte is aware of changes in her surroundings or harm to her body as if deeply asleep. She can end this state at any time as a full-round action. If she remains in hibernation for at least a week before emerging, her body is renewed as if by both a heal spell and a restoration spell. A Green Faith acolyte can remain in this state for up to 1 week per class level, after which she must wait 1 day for each week spent hibernating before entering hibernation again.

at lvl 11:
bab +6
fort save +6
Ref Save +3
Will Save +9
_________
I am thinking of starting this build out at lvl 7. 1 lvl sorcerer/ 5 lvls druid/ 1 lvl green faith acolyte. i won't take animal companion for the druid lvls. but green faith will force one on the character.

I am thinking of playing this build as if it where an oracle and having the reincarnate ability as a curse and having the PC go catatonic for the 7 days that the ability does not work as it recharges.

your thoughts? and should the build stick with the green faith prestige class after it has gotten the hibernate or continue lvling in druid?

or a way to just make the druid a spontaneous caster?

so your starting a new character at level 6. now the idea is that the PC has some how gotten to that level some how. would such a character have picked up a magic item along the way before you started playing them?

why are they considered a feat trap? sure at lvl 6 you get two attacks but if you have to fight more then two enemies wouldn't cleave be better in that situation?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I was wondering because from how I understand it is that it is attached to a bloodline and if the sorcerer is reincarnated he would possibly get a new race/body. how does it work for them? i mean the new body is not of the sorcerer's bloodline.

or rolling too high? or exact rolling? for like avoiding traps and acrobatic skills that sorta thing.

like being to successful and overshooting the jump across a pit but tripping a tripwire trap on the other side. you have to roll with in a range of numbers say 12-16 nat 20 is still a success but a 19 or 30 would mean you over shot and triggered the trap, if you get what i am trying to ask.

i am very forgetful/conservative with powers that are limited per day. is there a class that i can use a class feature freely with out worrying about wasting it on small fights yet still have it for those big fights. i played an alchemist but due to only having X amount of bombs per day i would not use my bombs very often because you would not know if that next fight would the fight with a mini boss or some powerful random encounter. you don't want to use all your powerful attacks on a bunch of kobolds only to have to face their boss later with your poke aces all used up and feeling useless or being useless and ridiculed for not "unleashing" in the fight with what you can do. is there a class that can "go bananas" with its powers with out worrying too much about wasting them?

i could just go with a martial class and cleave everything. but that's kinda boring.

and while kineticist looks promising building one seems like a huge task.

then what is offered by D20pfsrd.com. it's my only source of information. first off the Astral Plane how bloody dangerous is it? my DM says it is very dangerous and not to be used. i only think he does not want me to use it as i might use it as a way to escape his Cthulhu based Conan hell realm. not really hell but not fun to play in.

summoner's eidolon hidden in plain sight. i have been toying with this idea for a long time now. and since eidolons can look like anything you want. why not have your eidolon look like a furred cloak and wear it as such. say your eidolon is a quadruped wolf creature you could wear it about you. i am sure you can find pictures of such things on the net, i have. in a sense a wearable eidolon, kinda, but not a venom/symbiote suit.

anyone have any ideas on this subject?

my group thinks that they can use the "detect evil" spell and/or ability as a "find all". i am the thought that if your evil but not currently planning or committing some form of ill intent that you would not be detected. i know paladins and clerics have auras that give away their alignment. is this just a D&D thing or is it not in pathfinder? if i am right could you link me to the information so i can show my group.

if detect evil worked like they say it does you could just walk through any town with "detect evil" on and kill anyone that registers and be able to solve any murder mystery.

how i think it works you have to catch the person in the act or planning of evil to have it register the person as an evil person. you see a man stabbing another/ the man is sitting at a table staring at his next target waiting for him to leave. so he can follow and slit his neck in the dark alley a block from his house, where he won't be seen. those sorta things.

that list all the important spell information. i have been writing all mine out and it takes forever and i may miss important information when i do.

just another quickie

i been looking but my d20-fu is not so good so i can't find it. not the price of a night at an inn or renting an inn room for a month but to pay and own an inn. plus the yearly tax an inn owner might need to pay.

if you can link me to a page where i can read up on the stuff that would be great.

just another quick question. i have been looking at the prestige class green faith acolyte.it has the hibernate ability at third level and while it won't come into effect for a long while. i am wanting to have all my bases covered since i want to play a reincarnated druid/oracle and play the reincarnation aspect of the druid as a curse. every time he dies he has to sleep or as much as he can for at least a week. i have the eating covered but i need to know how often he would wake up from the dehydration damage and how much it would take before causing him to wake up.

i am also playing him as an old man on his first/second (backstory reasons) life so he does not know he has this ability. he is a fire druid/solar mystery that thinks he has a natural affinity for fire who honors the earth and the sun. he has set out on his final adventure to die an honorable death so he can join his beloved. that's where the curse effect of reincarnation takes effect.
