Well, I'm showing off my noob tag on the forums, I guess.

I managed to make an alias for Janneh, 'cuz I needed to figure out how it works. Even as I type this, I'm realizing that I've typo-ed my name in the alias, and I wonder/assume it's just easier to change his name to Jannah. XD ((it's apparently easy to change the alias tag))

I wanted to edit my last post, but that doesn't appear to be a thing, perhaps this late after submitting it.

ANYWAY, I wanted to add one other notable tidbit about Jannah/Janneh's background: Assuming we're both selected (I know, I know- high bar), Janneh knows Aaron Tanessen, and resents him deeply for having the silver spoon he never got and spitting it out. Aaron's player is my brother IRL, and we've discussed the potential for how this conflict can develop and be flavorful and be fun and not derail the game.

I'm hopeful that we'll get to explore that relationship and find a way to build (half) brothers that start antagonistic to each other and wind up, well, like brothers.

Sorry for the extra posts. I really did mean to edit the last one... D:

Took me a while, but here we go:

Luciana, fetchling gloomblade fighter.

Mythweavers sheet

background, appearance, personality:
Luciana was born in Nisroch, the main port of Nidal, to a well-off family of merchants. Her childhood was spent sheltered in relative comfort, despite the oppressive boredom that growing up in Nidal entailed. As she grew, she became more interested in her family's history, noticing that she and her family didn't quite seem like the other people she encountered in the city. Secretly delving into the family's archives while the elders were busy, Luciana discovered that her famliy were kayal, also known as fetchlings, descendants of Azlanti refugees to the Shadow Plane, brought back into Nidal with Zon-Kuthon. Luciana at first did not understood why their heritage was hidden, but on studying further, she realized the kayal were looked down upon in Nidal, and the family's success depended on maintaining their illusion of humanity. Both intrigued and disturbed by her findings, Luciana continued to secretly study as much of her family and homeland's history as she could in her spare time.

Eventually, Luciana stumbled upon some mysterious documents written in an arcane script, which she devoted herself to deciphering. What she discovered was astonishing: an ancient field of magic devoted to the manipulation of shadows, creating everything from common household tools to powerful weapons of war. Luciana eagerly began to teach herself this magic, quickly becoming proficient in forming simple objects from shadow. However, before she was able to master her new skills, her transgressions were discovered by her elders, putting a stop to her snooping in the family archives. Disappointed and unable to contain her newfound knowledge, Luciana set off on a self-imposed exile, fleeing to the North Plains between Nidal and Cheliax and living among the refugee communities there for several years. There, she was introduced to even more forbidden knowledge, becoming drawn to the faith of Desna.

After a while, Luciana decided to move to the city of Kintargo, wanting to see more of the world and tiring of rural life - but also because of her curiosity about one thing she'd seen during her research into her family archive. In many files on the relationship between Nidal and Cheliax, she encountered one particular phrase many times, but with little explanation: "Silver Ravens". She knew that this had to be a group of some kind, that they were located in Cheliax, and that the family historians - and the Chelish and Nidalese authorities - didn't seem to like them very much, but with her newfound knowledge and outlook, she thought that perhaps there was something more to this group. Arriving in Kintargo to stay with the family of a friend she'd made in the North Plains, Luciana couldn't help but notice the tension around the city. Soon after, her hosts arranged a meeting with someone they said may help with her investigation, and so she set off, nervous but excited, to Aria Park...

At first Luciana looks like a fairly ordinary and plain Nidalese human, but on closer inspection, her features hint at her different origins. When she is emotional, wisps of smoky shadow occasionally escape from her pale skin. She prefers to wear dark-colored dresses that don't tend to draw attention, even if that may actually make her stick out a bit in a more colorful society.

Growing up in an oppressive, fun-hating society, Luciana learned quickly to hide and suppress her emotions, appearing blandly neutral most of the time by habit, but her time away from Nidal has allowed her to open up a little. She is driven to obtain new knowledge and experiences, tempered by an equally strong desire to keep to the shadows.

I usually fill out a profile with my own stats format if I'm picked, you can see some examples from my other aliases. Please let me know if there's anything I missed. Thanks!

dotting in...thinking about making a Nidalese fetchling gloomblade fighter, we'll see.

I'm a bit stuck on my idea and I can't really think of anything else I want to do, so I'll withdraw...maybe next time. Hope you all have a good game!

I've got Pendelea here, amphibious undine sniper slayer:

Overview: Veteran hunter and scout looking for new challenges away from home.

Backstory, etc.:
Pendelea hails from a large but isolated undine settlement located in the cliffs and coves off the coast of Qadira. From childhood, she had been an avid tinkerer, building and inventing using the flotsam that gathered near their home. Unfortunately, as she grew up, her talents were required elsewhere. A series of unfortunate accidents and disasters that she doesn't quite remember well cut off the small flow of trade between the settlement and their landborne neighbors, meaning that the undines were forced to fend for themselves for some time. As a young and fit member of the community, Pendelea learned to fish and hunt, keeping the settlement's critical food stocks filled while ties with the outside could be reestablished. However, what they thought would take a few weeks dragged out to months and years and decades, and Pendelea became a seasoned scout, using her childhood experience to create efficient tools and weapons for the rest of the hunters while patrolling further and further away from home looking for opportunity and danger. Eventually, the undines, nearly forgotten by the rest of the world, managed to reestablish contact with the outside, with old and new trading partners flocking to the revitalized settlement. As the situation stabilized, Pendelea and her colleagues' role in maintaining the security of the community faded. Even though Pendelea was now effectively retired, she was still quite young, by undine standards at least, and capable. When a representative from the Bountiful Venture Company showed up one day, looking for volunteers for an expedition, Pendelea jumped at the chance to test the skills she'd worked so hard to build up. While she missed the departure of the first colony ship, she's now ready and eager to set off on her new adventure.

Pendelea looks roughly like a cross between a human and a fish, with clear gill slits on her neck and fins sprouting from her head and limbs. Her skin is usually a deep turquoise, but can change color and pattern depending on the conditions. Because of her aquatic upbringing, she wears as little as is necessary, relying on stealth, mobility, and an impressive array of self-built weaponry to protect herself.

Coming from an insular community, Pendelea can be slow to fully trust strangers, but carries a healthy sense of respect for others, as long as they aren't actively hostile. Her long trips out scouting and hunting during her formative years have left her unaccustomed to society and many of its more arcane modes of communication, but she sees the value in bonding and working together with small groups.

character sheet (mythweavers)

Hey Archlich, quick question, what Hellknight order(s) were you thinking of going for? One the ideas I've been bouncing around is an oracle into Hellknight Signifier, shouldn't be too similar to antipaladin -> Hellknight (at least mechanically).

Thanks! I'll get to concepting then :)

dot, but as before not committing to creating a character until the GM speaks up.

Biggest question I have: what would the desired posting rate be?

dotting in...

Hrm, yeah, I can only guarantee at most one post per day right now, so if you're looking for more then I guess I'll bow out as well. Still, good to see you all doing well, I know you'll have a great game :)

oh yeah, forgot to roll for moneys...
1d6 ⇒ 30 or 35, whichever is greater

Here's a start on my monk: Jaya Raghar

Dotting in...wow it's been over two years since the old RotRL game died out. Glad to see you're doing well :)

I'll look over my options on the weekend.
I'll probably be submitting a Vudrani perfect scholar (un)monk, inquisitive archaeologist trait. Will write her up over the weekend.

dotting in, but I'll wait on concept/build for now pending gm approval of the guidelines.

Could be interested as a player, depending on the specifics...

From the requirements it seems like you intend all characters to be natives (or at least established inhabitants) of Trunau, however the players guide indicates that this is not necessary. Was that your intention?

Dotting in, could be interested as a player if you need more.

Well with giving me the heads up, I can give up to 72 hours from this point to work on it if your still interested in applying.

I appreciate that but I really wouldn't want to just half-ass something out, so don't feel the need to wait for me. Have a great game :)

Half-Minotaur:

Darkvision (Ex):
Minotaur Cunning (Ex):Half-mino-taurs gain much of the innate cunning of their minotaur parent. This gives the half-minotaur a +4 bonus on Intelligence checks to escape maze spells and the ability to determine which direction is north automatically.
Scent (Ex):
Abilities: Str +8, -2 Dex Con +4,Int -2.
Skills: A half-minotaur has a +2racial bonus on Perception checks.
Bonus Feat: Track

A couple questions on this one:

  • What's the range for Darkvision and Scent?
  • If my base race also has +2 to perception, do they stack?
  • Track isn't a feat in PF1E (it was in 3.5 and is again in 2E). Would you want to replace it with anything?

A Half-minotuar Brawler of unknown base race.

Half-Minotuar is a powerful template so 10 PB for stats.

Looks like we have a large and in charge one here, boys.

Sounds good! I think tiefling will work nicely with that.

Classes
assault: barbarian, brawler
skilled: ranger, rogue
divine: druid, oracle
arcane: bard, sorcerer

Questions
Which of the three does your character prize the most about themselves? (pick two):
Brawn, Beauty

Which environment do you think your character likely enjoy more when trying to relax or wanting to explore? (can choose up to two):
Desert, Mountains

Which of the four elements do you think matches the Character? (pick one):
Fire

Which part of two; Lawful or Chaotic alignment would your character feel a sub conscience pull towards?
Chaotic

Which of the 7 deadly sins would your character be most likely tempted by or commit (pick up to two):
Lust, Wrath

As far as race goes, was thinking about tiefling but may change based on what the randomization spits out, if that's fine.

I'd be interested in Dragon's Demand (like everyone else), Realm of the Fellnight Queen, and No Response from Deepmar.

I should be mostly done: Ashlara Thanusara, elf eldritch scoundrel (arcane-casting rogue). She fits in the rogue/skilled category.

background:
Growing up among the elves of the Mierani Forest, Ashlara was always fascinated with magic, especially as a member of a distinguished family of mages and warriors. She took to the arcane arts easliy, but never seemed satisfied with just the academic study of magic. Instead, she threw herself into more practical applications, adapting both the arcane and martial sides of her family into a unique fighting style centered around their trademark weapon, the branched spear. She also took a particular interest in magical objects - weapons, traps, and especially artifacts - dedicating most of her studying time towards researching them with the hope of one day creating her own to add to the annals of magical lore.

It soon became obvious to Ash that being cooped up in the forest was a waste of the abilities she'd developed, and she decided to move to Kyonin, the heart of elven scholarship and culture, exploring the magic in the world around as she went. She made her way through Varisia all the way to the Mindspin Mountains, before the caravan she was traveling with was ambushed by an orc raiding party not long after leaving Trunau. Ash helped fight off the attack, but with most of their supplies seized or destroyed in the chaos, the surviving members of the caravan had no choice but to return to the shelter of the walled city. Not feeling confident enough to set off on her own, Ash has been waiting for the caravan to restock and prepare to set off again, but they've decided to put off their departure until after the Hopeknife Festival...

As for advancement, she'll stick with rogue, and eventually if we get far enough then she'll go for the Dimensional chain of feats.

I've decided to keep my previous submission from GM TBD's recruitment: Shasvi Varima. Sheet is linked from there and background etc. is in the post, but I'll fill out your application requirements here as well.

Spoiler:

Your character's link to Taldor and their motivation for getting involved in Taldan politics: Explained in the background, but in short, she's a junior member of a major noble house who has been tasked with helping to bring about reform in the nation.

Race and class: rakshasa-spawn tiefling, mesmerist. I'm playing it such that her powers come from her rakshasa blood, but nobody (including her) is aware of this. Whether her heritage becomes a plot point or is just ignored is up to you.

Alignment or morality: lawful neutral, but doesn't feel too beholden to the current state, as she and her house know that true stability and order can only be achieved after reform (i.e. short-term chaos is okay if it's in the interest of long-term lawfulness).

Role in the group - what can your character contribute in and out of combat:
- out of combat: all the typical "face" skills except intimidate, as more of a subtle manipulation type. can magic if necessary, but would prefer not to.
- in combat: can't do much as far as damage, but acts as a support caster, mainly debuffs and enchantments.

Background: see linked post.

Character progression: don't have too much planned out yet, but staying with mesmerist and probably picking up eldritch heritage (rakshasa bloodline of course) down the road.

Thanks!

Oh right, forgot to roll for wealth: money: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 4) = 200, not bad

Dot, will review my options...

Any preferences or restrictions on alignment?

Seems like quite a tough choice! Take your time, we aren't going anywhere :)

Giantslayer, eh? Haven't seen that one in a long time.

rolls v1:

4d6 - 1 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 2) - 1 + 6 - 2 = 13
4d6 - 1 - 1 + 4 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 6) - 1 - 1 + 4 + 3 - 3 = 13
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 3) - 2 = 11
4d6 - 1 - 1 + 4 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 2) - 1 - 1 + 4 + 6 - 2 = 12
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 3) - 2 = 15
4d6 - 1 - 1 + 3 + 6 - 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3) - 1 - 1 + 3 + 6 - 3 = 12

rerolls: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 4, 6, 3, 6) = 32

so that's 15 13 13 12 12 11...only an 18 point buy, so might as well try again.

rolls v2:

4d6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 6) - 4 = 16
4d6 - 1 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 2) - 1 + 6 - 2 = 15
4d6 - 1 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 6) - 1 + 3 - 3 = 12
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 2) - 2 = 14
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 3) - 2 = 13
4d6 - 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 5) - 1 + 2 - 2 = 13

rerolls: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) = 11

Ah, much better.

So that'll be 16 15 14 13 13 12, equivalent to a 30 point buy fitting a MAD build. I'll have to look at my options.

One question: in your creation guidelines you don't mention anything about race or alignment. Do you have any restrictions or preferences, or is everything open?

I'm used to a slower pace, so I wouldn't mind posting every other day. However I haven't had good experiences with GM running 2 tables - our table saw less and less activity until it was basically ignored - so make sure you can handle it of you do decide to go down that path.

Well, took a while to nail down, but here's Shasvi Varima, mesmerist noblewoman who is unaware of her rakshasa-spawn heritage.

background, appearance, personality:
The Varima are known in Taldor for their skill at diplomacy and negotiation, but just how they got this skill is a secret, deliberately hidden ages ago from any prying eyes and forgotten even within the house to all but their most studious loremasters: brought to Taldor with the first of the Varima who migrated from Vudra, the blood of the foul fiends known as the rakshasa courses through their veins. The effects of this heritage are mostly too diluted to have any effect nowadays, such that not even the leaders of the house are aware of anything strange among themselves, but every once in a while they manifest strongly in an individual like Shasvi. Although she and her family, low-ranking junior members of the Varima as they are, have never had any inkling that Shasvi is anything other than human, they've always known that she's not an ordinary person.

Even as a child who could barely speak, Shasvi seemed to be unnaturally persuasive, easily convincing those around her to cater to her childish whims. Although this perhaps hindered her maturation a little, she and those around her eventually became aware of her supernatural abilities and learned how to control or cope with them. As she grew older, so did her powers, until she fully manifested her psychic magic. Even now, though, Shasvi remains largely unaware of the extent of the psychic powers she possesses, not having had much reason to question just how the world around her usually works. However, she is keenly aware - as has been made rather clear to her - that her brand of magic isn't exactly accepted in Taldan society, so she tries to keep public displays as limited as she can, which, considering the nature of her abilities, is not too much of a change.

With most of the Varima family not wanting to pick sides between the Imperialists and Loyalists that have been dominating recent politics - or at least, not wanting to give the appearance of having picked sides - Shasvi, known within the family for her skills but not much outside of it, was quietly chosen to act as an agent on the house's behalf, to be easily explained away as a junior member acting on her own accord if necessary. She was put into contact with Lady Martella Lotheed, known to them as an opponent of the traditionalist elements of her own family - for most of the Varima recognize that the best way forward to peace, stability, and prosperity in Taldor lies with the more progressive society championed by the Princess. Given a vague set of directions and a rough sense of what is needed of her, Shasvi is prepared for her unexpected chance to bring her talents to the grandest stage of Taldan politics.

With her dark skin, shapely figure, flowing long hair, and piercing eyes, Shasvi represents well the natural beauty of the Vudrani people, though the closer one studies her features, the more unnatural they may seem. Though her rakshasa heritage is otherwise largely hidden, they can most strongly be seen in her tiger-like eyes, though even that is mostly indistinguishable from normal human coloration, and barely noticeable due to her psychic manipulations. She dresses with the typical opulence of the Opparan nobility, with a a bit of Vudrani flair in her jewelry and makeup though still mainly Taldan in style, and a bit understated in an attempt to not stand out too much from the crowd.

Shasvi often comes off as shy and quiet, but in reality that's just how she tries to deflect attention from herself when she's focused on her subtle schemes and manipulations. When those schemes are revealed, whether by herself or others, she seems to become confident, to the point of being arrogant, but again that's just another mind trick. If she's got nothing to hide - which is rare, generally only around those she trusts enough to know about her true abilities - her real personality comes out: cheerful and playful, but respectful of boundaries and authority. Her somewhat sheltered and psychic-enhanced upbringing means that her mind doesn't work exactly as one would expect, but she's quick-witted enough to fake through it most of the time, and at the same time helps make her seem less threatening and more unpredictable to those who don't know her.

Alright, Snowfang and her companion wolf Toothy are basically complete. I'll make an alias (or two, if you prefer) if selected. Thanks!

background, appearance, personality:
The Ilverani may be known as insular and distrusting, but there are always exceptions to every rule. Such was the case with Snowfang's father, who had always been curious about the world outside for as long as he could remember. While his elders pushed him to become a twilight speaker, the Ilverani's representatives to the outside, he had no interest in such a role, instead simply setting off on his own as soon as he could. After wandering the frozen lands of the north for a while, he made his way to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, making a new home in the tent city of Hillcross. There, he made an uneasy partnership with a Mammoth Lord tribe that frequented the trading city, eventually falling in love with one particularly friendly member and fathering a child with her, who he gave the nickname "Snowfang".

Snowfang's life in the north was never particularly exciting. With nobody but her parents a permanent fixture in her life, she spent most of her early years with the friendly animals that the tribe left in their care. Before long, with little left to do and see in Hillcross, the family decided to set off for the warmer lands to the south. Though they obviously weren't able to take all of Snowfang's animal friends with them on their journey, they did bring along a pack of wolves who seemed just as eager to leave their snowy home, as well as a special gift from the tribe's elders - two kukris, their handles specially crafted from the tusks of a mammoth, a reminder of the land she once called home and the giant beasts she shared it with.

After the long trip across the tundra from Hillcross through the Ulfen lands and down south to Varisia, Snowfang's family arrived in Sandpoint, where they decided to settle. There, they quickly became close friends with the Mvashtis, the quickness and eagerness with which Niska welcomed them leading some to believe that the old seer had seen something extraordinary in the family's future...though the reality was that they had met in the north, years before, on their respective travels. As the young half-elf grew of age, her father began to teach her in some of the few Ilverani ways he still carried with him - survival skills, archery, and most of all the art of fencing, though Snowfang much preferred using her special knives to her father's rapier. At around the same time, one particularly headstrong wolf pup attached himself to Snowfang, who named him Toothy after his normal goofy grin. Between wrangling Toothy, her training, and chatting with Niska - or, at times, all of them together - Snowfang never had a dull day in Sandpoint.

Inevitably, though, Niska passed, and with their strongest tie to the town gone, Snowfang's parents decided to move on once again. This time, though, the grown half-elf decided to stay put and not follow their wanderlust, heeding Niska's advice and feeling the opportunity for an even greater journey ahead. With Toothy at her side, she continued practicing what her father taught her, waiting for a chance to put it to good use.

=====================================================================

Snowfang inherited the pale skin and white hair of her father, and the green eyes and lean physique of her mother. She mostly wears leathers with a splash of blue, and is never seen without her two ivory-handled kukris. Also always at her side is Toothy, a giant gray wolf with a persistent panting grin showcasing his namesake canines.

Having grown up with few peers and parents from two rather reclusive cultures, Snowfang is awkward at best around others, but seems to be able to form strong bonds with animals much more quickly.

Alright. I'll say 'yes' to the totem-bonded archetype, with the provision it's either a wolf, big cat or grizzly bear animal companion based on it being suited to the cold tundra. I hope that'll be acceptable. :)

Yep, definitely! I was actually planning to go with a wolf initially, so it works just fine. Thanks :D

Aww. If your issue is just with the companion itself, would it be okay if I used the archetype but selected one of the more normal companion choices like big cat or wolf?

Just a little update, I'm writing up a snowcaster half-elf hunter - temporary sheet here. I'm planning on using the Totem-Bonded archetype - would you allow a saber-toothed cat (smilodon) companion with it? It's not mentioned in the archetype's companion choice list because it was added in a later book. Thanks!

Oki should now be complete. Let me know if there's anything else you need.

Yep, still working on mine, should be done tonight. Is the mythweavers sheet fine or should I make an alias (or two)?

Aww, maybe next time. Good luck and have fun :)

Oh right, forgot to update. Qiu Jin aka Junius is complete for everything except mundane equipment (weapons/armor are all filled out).

background, appearance, personality:
Born in the faraway Taldan colony of Amanandar, Qiu Jin grew up on the streets of New Oppara, where her family had lived for as long as they had known. As a child and teenager, he lived a rough but carefree life, often getting into bits of minor trouble with the local Taldan authorities - and learning quite a bit about them as a result. As Jin grew older and more mature, though, he mellowed out, taking up the family trade of blacksmithing. By the time Jin had reached the age for his mandatory military service, he was already a skilled and disciplined worker. His abilities did not go unnoticed by the commanders, who assigned him to the forges alongside his military training - first producing standard blades for the common conscripts, then, as he became more comfortable, crafting finer weapons for officers. Jin quickly picked up the skill of reading people - abilities, talents, mannerisms - helping him make adjustments customized to the blade's intended wielder, and also showed an artistic streak, adding etchings and patterns that matched the recipient as well. This caught the eye of some visiting Taldan dignitaries, who made a deal with Jin: after his military service, they would bring him to Taldor, a land he had always been curious about since his childhood, if he promised to continue his work there. Jin agreed in a heartbeat, and began making preparations, passing on his skills and craftsmanship to those around him and training his martial skill more rigorously to prepare for the dangerous journey to the other side of the world.

Upon his arrival in old Oppara, Jin, creating something of an alter-ego known as "Junius" to deal with Taldan society, set to work under the patronage of a minor noble family, the Trias, who had sent the dignitaries in Amanandar. In Taldor, his work became decorative, adorning mantlepieces and dining tables - though no less deadly if their use was called upon. Junius also quickly picked up more traditional Taldan weapons and methods, blending them with his own experience to make the blades that the Trias and many more nobles wore at their sides. However, with success and acclaim came loneliness. With so few Tian around, Jin maintained his connection to his homeland by continuing to train in the martial arts taught to him years before as he started his military service - the swordsmanship of the samurai, mixed with his own learnt tumbling in the streets as a child.

It wouldn't be long before Junius's non-blacksmithing skills would be called upon in his new home. Sensing the coming conflict around the Taldan succession, the Trias decided to support the princess, Eutropia, but were unwilling to do so publicly. Instead, they contacted Lady Martella Lotheed - an acquaintance they knew to be on the same side - and offered the service of Junius as an agent. When the Lady expressed interest, Junius accepted his new role, bound by his vow of loyalty to the Trias but also out of his own interest in the cause. Now, he prepares to embark on a mission unlike any he has faced before...

An average Tian man, short but relatively stocky. Jin prefers to wear simple, functional traditional clothes, which makes him stand out at times in extravagant Oppara. He's been told that he would look good in Taldan noble fashion, but always feels extremely uncomfortable whenever he tries.

Softspoken and humble, loyal and hardworking, Jin prefers to keep his head down and toil in obscurity. That's not because he's shy or afraid - he knows that being in the shadows helps his chances of success when he needs to pop out into the light, a lesson he learned the hard way on the streets of New Oppara. And when it happens, Junius takes over - not quite brash and arrogant like the Taldan nobility he's had to deal with at times, but forceful enough to stand his own in games of intrigue...or so he hopes.
