Thanks for the insight. Was hoping to be able to find a loophole so I could throw it and have the anchoring effect take place where it hit, and if that ruling was as everybody says, that it can only be by a melee attack, to see if there was a different weapon enhancement or something that does a similar effect. I know entangle but it is easy to avoid and get out of. ![]()
I was curious if anybody knew of a feat or archetype that would work here. On the weapon enhancement for Anchoring, you can put it on either a thrown weapon or a melee; however, for the effect to work in combat it has to be used in melee. Is there a way that this can be worked around? It just seems pointless to put it on a thrown weapon like a throwing axe or dagger and it not be able to work. I was wanting to get a throwing axe with anchoring to keep an enemy at a distance till it can be killed, but wanted to be able to throw the axe. ![]()
I second what manwolf said. There are lots of things that can be mixed and matched to fit a good story. What kindof person is kidnapper i.e. is he a Wizard, Lich, another prince or regional governor, etc? Depending on which way you go, you can change the story. If he's a wizard, he may feel that the prince is weak and thus knew what the empath was, hence why he wants to use her. If her is a governor, he may be trying to use the law to win and with an empath, he can manipulate other people to follow his will(sorta like Emperor Palpatine). Plus, how they find out that they have been lied to can be a cool "Dun Dun Dunnn" moment. ![]()
Thanks for the advice. Opposed check prob would be the best route, though when they RP it, I may change it up a little bit. I don't want the animals to kill the players, just do some damage and such. Having a dire tiger pounce on a player and then rake while his handler is trying to stop him might make for a quick encounter. ![]()
They didn't pick the exclusive trick. The wolf mount knows the riding general purpose as well as attack, down, and track. As for the dire tiger, he has the "hunting" trick. The way I was going to RP the NPC was sorta like the pied piper and have them attack their respective owners. I just wasn't sure of penalties that would be involved. ![]()
I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but I was just curious if anyone had an idea on how to make a NPC that was good at taking control of a players AC and using it against them. A friend of mine is using a Halfling cavalier with wolf mount and another player is using a dire tiger as his AC. And yes, this is homebrew. But considering we typically use the same characters for different campaigns and missions, when it is my turn to DM, I want to be able have a rival group of NPCs that can deal with a dire tiger. I was thinking of using a bard/ ranger build, with the ranger's handle animal and animal companion as well as using a bard performance of dominate animal with a ring of charm animal. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. ![]()
I was wanting to create a luring cavalier from the order of the tome, and I was wondering if the order has a factor on his alignment or if that is up to how I role play him. He would have to go in search of random tomes and potions(I suggested a acid that deals damage the same way as bleed damage) and he goes in search of it. Even though he would be LN, I wasn't sure if the order has a certain alignment or if the character was fine as written. Any help would be appreciated. ![]()
I know it's a minor thing, but having the Holy enhancement only gives the bonus if the enemy is evil. Not much, but not all enemies are evil, and the whole (2d6 per arrow) x6 or 7 arrows can be negated. When you say an avg of 7pts per arrow with 6 hitting, that's 42pts you don't get. I like the bow, but I was wondering if instead of using the Ki arrows if you use any sort of enhanced arrows? Cause having ghost touch cold iron or (insert enemy)bane adamantine arrows or whatever would also be a nice add. It's kind of like having a rifle that shoots armor piercing rounds, tracers, high explosive, etc. That way, you can have as nice a bow you want, and have arrows that can fit the situation. |
