A new book focused on Dwarven culture, the city of Highhelm, and the various clans. This seems really cool. I hope we learn more about the Rivethun potentially. Also excited to learn more about the Dwarven pantheon and see them fleshed out.
Highhelm announcement!

What it says on the tin! I have 1 request though.

-Please let this be a discussion on what would a Bloodrager class look like, not a debate on whether or not a bloodrager has enough to be it's own class. I know that there are those that think a class archetype or an instinct would be enough, and I know some will even scoff and say just slap a sorcerer dedication, take moment of clarity and call it a day. I am not saying those wouldn't be valid alternatives but I would like this dialogue to assume it being a class is a given.

So that being said what would you like to see in the class

- Wavecasting or some sort of variant. I like how Paizo continues to mess around with slots to create various kinds of casters and I am here for seeing this happen again.

-The ability to cast spells while raging, it could be restricted someway so that it is only bloodrager spells, (and spells that are don't have the concentrate tag already)

- An ability that will let them cast a 1 or 2 action spell as party of entering their rage.

-This maybe a major conceit but I don't mind it being squishier than a barbarian to make the balance work. Ideally a d10 but if they can deliver on being a martial powerhouse fueled by magical blood and it be a d8, well I would be a bit sad but as long as the rest of the fantasy is fulfilled I would be fine.

-lastly Bloodlines should be unique to the class, and the class shouldn't be beholden to sorcerer bloodlines. I think some of the strongest 1e bloodlines in terms of themes and feel were the ones that didn't have a sorcerer equivalent or were allowed to diverge and explore different elements of said magical origin. I think they should feel different than the sorcerer.

A feat or an ability that lets them count as one level step better on saves against their own spells would also be really thematically appropriate

So after playing a high level summoner in a game last night I think there is one ability that is seen exclusively as a negative.

Rolling twice in an A.O.E. Now yes I'm not going to say it doesn't feel bad to roll lets say a nat 20 and having to take the lower result(happened to me twice) but It is the balancing point to something really important. Harm reduction and damage mitigation for the party as a whole.

If this was an animal companion both my Summoner and her Companion would have taken damaged needed healing equally, being able to keep 2 creatures up with the same hp pool is super helpful for spell slots.

In another encounter my summoner and her eidolon(who had been enlarged to huge size) were able to block a passage way, the swarms attacking us damaged us for one instance of damage and protected the rest of the party from the swarms. I imagine with other aoes this could help as well.

Now if you don't like the shared HP mechanic then this point might be moot. But I think comparing it to a druid and their animal companion actually shows how the rolling twice issue is mostly just a perceived one. Because any one with a companion would have that issue, you actually get to ignore a whole potential iteration of damage. I'm not saying that it doesn't feel bad sometimes, just that I think people focus on the negative side and not the whole picture it is a part of or the comparison to other companion dynamics.

So I was pretty disappointed to find out that the Druid Archetype doesn't have a feat for Wild Empathy.

It sort of feels like an oversight, since Wild Empathy is a class feature for the Druid while it is a class feat for Rangers. Ranger and Beastmaster archetypes can get it at 4th level but if you want to be more caster-like there is no real option for you. There is an easy enough fix to homebrew by just giving the Druid Archetype the feat as a level 4 option, but I was wondering if anyone else thought this was an oversight? I can't think of any mechanical or flavor reason to not allow the Druid dedication to have it as a feat.

Hey there, I love Paizo and I love pathfinder. This isn't a call out or anything I just had some questions. There has some been a lot of concerned with the way creatures are utilized from various cultures around the world. Some people view it as upsetting when fantasy is exclusively based around European cultures, while other times using monsters, creatures, or entities out of context from their cultures of origins can be seen as appropriation. The most infamous example of this I can think of our things like Thunderbird or the W-----o or the creature on page 327 of the 2e Bestiary.(I won't refer to it by its full name because from my understanding of the cultural origins that's one thing you should avoid doing) and my question is what is the process in deciding too include these creatures. Has Paizo gotten approval of writing these creatures, or have indigenous writers/freelancers work on them. Two in particular are the aforementioned creature and the Kushtaka, from beastiary 3, page 158.

I Genuinely believe Paizo has the best of intentions, I know in the past they've talked about utilizing writers from cultures that most reflect the material in the past. I think Paizo is a great company that truly values diversity. I just had the concerns/questions I raised.

So I am taking up the reigns of Dming for my group and we have settled on a conversion of War for the Crown to 2e. I was wondering if any others have attempted this and If I can get some suggestions, or advice on converting it. I am bit nervous as this is my first time converting something on my own. ( Although I have used the rise of the runelords conversion from a series of dice based events and adjusted things from that to suit my table)

So I am really interested in playing a Herbalist but I just want to make sure I understand what i get for the dedication.

I get the Basic alchemy benefits( alchemical crafting feat, Advanced alchemy to make items without time or funds) but they only apply to items with the healing trait, which at the moment are just the elixer's of life, and then also the anti-plague and antidote.
I can then only get a number of batches equal to my character level, or half if I'm in the wild.

My nature becomes expert, I can use it to craft herbal items and I don't need the alchemical crafting feat ( which I seem to get?)

So I guess my question is.

1) Do I still get the alchemical crafting feat?(as the basic alchemy benefits suggest) Would I need to be trained in crafting to get it still, or do I ignore that prerequisite?

2) If I do get the alchemical crafting feat it seems I am limited to just the healing ones and the antidote, anti-plague? but that's only enough for I think 3 formulas? Are there other formulas I am missing?

If someone can help me out it is greatly appreciated

Hi, I have been trying to add a payment method to my account so I can redeem my Second Edition Core rulebook copy from the Humble bundle. Whenever I try to add the Payment method instead of adding it, it brings me to an error page stating I don't have access to that page.

So with 2e I think I can finally make a character I wanted to create for a while, a non-magical gnome zoologist/cryptozooligist.

Ranger would be the build and the would be picking up both the Gnome Famililar feat and the Animal companion so they can have their own personal menagerie. the familiar is mostly for flavor and scouting. I was looking at what other feats to take when I came across the monster hunter and similar feats, such as share prey and triple threat and they all seem super fitting telling me allies how to deal with the monsters ahead of me.

My question is, which Hunter's edge would be most fitting to give out to the party and my companion buddy. I was thinking Precise, since my actions, look like they will typically be Strike, warden's boon an ally, control animal companion? And just give everyone a bunch of more dice. Or if flurry would edge out when it comes to giving it to my martial friends.

So some people have issue with Adopted Ancestry requiring third level, when it should theoretically have an impact earlier. What if, instead of it being a general feat it is a "universal ancestry feat," this would obviously be a home-brew that i don't think would be too broken. I don't mind it too much but I wouldn't mind providing this option for players of mine who do want that significance at first level.

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

Just trying to clear things up for one of my players. Under the various spell-casting abilities it says they use their spell-casting for spell rolls? Does that include for the attack rolls for spells that require one?

After looking at the spell chapter it says melee spell rolls have the finesse trait? So that means it's dex or str?

I think I answered my own question but I just want to be sure.

So if I am remembering correctly one of the Dev's mentioned something that sounded like they would be implementing something like Upcasting, I am a big fan of upcasting but I have a few concerns in how it might be implementing.

For those of you who don't know, upcasting is the concept of casting a lower level spell in a higher level spell slot for increased effect(either more targets, or more damage, etc).

In my opinion it allows for some interesting flexibility when it comes to combat. My concern is that upcasting works best with two types of casting, spontaneous and arcanist/5e styled prepared casters.

When you only care about your spells prepared for that day(as opposed to the each individual slot) it allows for the flexibility I mentioned. If you prepare fireball, you can throughout the day cast as many fireballs that you may need at what level you need it. You can choose to save your third level spell slots for spells that don't scale as well, or keep it safe and save those bigger spell slots and save keep them for something else. 5E takes a bit further than the arcanist because what spells you can prepare are not limited by the levels(if i'm remembering the arcanist correctly, you can prepare a number of third level spells, but you don't have to assign each of them a number of slots)

However, if it's implemented that prepared casters need to prepare spell slots with each lv, I think it would just add to my level of frustration with prepared casters in pathfinder or I might just ignore the upcasting mechanic with them, because how could you prepare if you need a lv 4 fireball vs a lv 3 fireball.

I guess another concern if spontaneous casters actually have to learn "fireball lv4" instead of just knowing "fireball." At that point I don't even think it would be upcasting anymore it would be something else.

That being said this is all speculation off of a few comments I saw(although I can't seem to find where I read them.) And ultimately if they go through with this choice, I can always play other classes, and stick to spontaneous casters.

What do you all think about upcasting, how well it works with preparing spells vs preparing spell slots, and how it might be implemented in P2E

I feel as if P1E really redefined the Sorcerer with it's expansive lists of unique bloodlines, turning it into somwthing that wasns't just a "spontaneous wizard"and as I learn more about P2E and Ancesteries i wonder about its legacy. I use wonder because concerned leaves a negative connotations and I am axtually quite excited and curious about this design space. Bloodlines was what empowered your sorcerer magic and was connected to a fantastical concept/creature/lineage, it leveled up with you granting you powers that would make a fey sorcerer for feyish or a dragon sorcerer more draconic.

And I wonder if like the occultist, Ancesteries were formes by examing the sorcerer and expanding the design space into the rest of the world/game.

But then what does that mean for the sorcerer, I mean bloodline and ancestery even have simillar connotations when taking out of the context of the game. I wonder could the sorcerers gimic stay unique enough. I mean I feel like it could but the concern is there. Then again it could just mean that you could become the most draconic dwarfiest dragon dwarf there is if sorcerers remain the same.

Then again sorcerers will change no doubt by becoming more doular maybe each bloodline gives you unqiue access to different sorcerer feats.

Back when I first started playing, my then friend(now gf) helped me build my firstcharacter since it was a high level game and I joined at the last moment. She built me a crusader from 3.5's Tome of Nine Swords and since then the mechanics of the class always stuck with me.It instilled in me a love of extradorinary and unique abilities of martials, that allowed each crusader, warblade, or swordsage to play very differently from one another. It also reflected the kind of zany and intense powers of the media I grew up with and adored(anime, video games, fantasy novels, and mythology from all over the world)

And I know with pathfinder, the company dreamscarred press brought them over as a third party option. However as I read about P2E and listen to the modular leveling system and the way in wich Proficencies( especially legendary proficencies) work and how the team seems to make martias and skill users as legendary as spellcasters I am excited to see if I can return to that feeling that I felt with Rook the Warforged Guardian.

Now I doubt Paizo will take the design philosophy of the "iniatiate classes" But I do think the vibe and maybe some simillar abilities can come out of it. And if Dreamscarred press does make stuff for P2E I can imagine The Initiate classes they come up for it can seemlessly work with the action ecnomy, and leveling system of P2E.

I know some people don't like the initate system, and from my understanding it sort of was the predesecor to what people didnt like about 4E(I could be wrong. I didn't really join the community into about maybe 4 years ago really so what i know is from passing).

But I am excited about this premise and the way in which Martials could truly become legendary.

Would people be interested in martials having some abilities that resemble initiate abilities?

So I dropped my cleric idea and I am going with a paladin instead.
I'm going human paladin. I plan to use a Longsword and Buckler so I can have good AC but switch to two handed if I need the extra damage. and this is how I expect my feat progression to go so far

1) power attack
1) skill focus (survival)
3) greater mercy
5) eldricth heritage (orc)
7)
8) skill focus (diplomacy)
9) improved critical (longsword)
11)
13)
15)
16) skill focus(knowledge religion
17)
19)

For mythic feats I plan on taking power attack, eldricth heritage, and maybe improved critical. But I'm not sure beyond that. As for the Mythic Path I am going Champion and I have a few idea for abilities but I am not entirely sure.

I also took the Oath of the Mendevean Crusade paladin archetype because it seemed flavorrful and useful for this campaign.
By the way my ability scores look like this at level 1
18/12/14/10/8/14
I do plan on taking Ultimate Mercy once I can actually use it but not sure when that will be the case.

So I am looking to play a Half-Elf Blossomiing Light Cleric of Saranrae for wrath of the righteous and I was wondering if I can get some suggestions.

For domains I was thinking the Glory(heroism) and Sun domain as they directly improve channel.

I think I want to go for the half elf favored class bonus as well.

The point buy is 25 and I was thinking of something like this 7/12/14/12/18/16
My skills being diplomacy, sense motive, and knowledge religion.

My first feat will be selective channel but beyond that I am not entirely sure where to go with it.

Heirophant makes the most sense for the Mythic path but I'm not sure which abilities to take beyond that. Or which mytthic feats to take. I think the one that increases my cleric level for my domains.

As for traits I think there is one for rerolling 1's on channel energy checks?

Any help will be appreciated, thank you <3

So I am theorycrafting a Guiding Blade swashbuckler to go alongside my girlfriends Scythe two-handed fighter.

We tried out the duo as a regular swashbuckler in a one shot but I came up with the issue of, if I am giving my crits away, how do I regain my panache. Then I found the Guiding Blade, it slows down my feat progression but I feel like it does what I wanted to do with my concept even better.
My build would look something like this as a Guiding Blade

1) weapon finesse(from swashbucklers finesse)
1) combat expertise
1) butterfly's sting (human)
1) Precise Strike (teamwork feat)
3) combat refkexes
4) lookout (teamwork feat)
5) dodge
5) improved critical( swashbucklers training)
7) mobility
8) stealth synergy (teamwork feat)
9) lunge
11) Spring Attack
12) coordinated charge (teamwork feat)
13) whirlwind attack
15) Piranha Strike
16) Outflank (teamwork feat)

The idea of the build is using my turn to either full attack or whirlwind attack to proc Butterfly's sting on as many targets within range as possible, using lunge and swashbucklers flair to get a 15 foot reach.
My partner will then attack (using cleave/full attack/whatever is needed) to get the x4 crit on her scythe and any remaining ones would be dealt with via allies.
And each enemy defeated would be another panache point back in my pool.

The teamwork feats I figure I would pick up some utility ones to help with my out of combat effectiveness. So stealth synergy at 4th, and lookout turns my standard action in a surprise round into standard actions for all of my friends.

However my biggest concern is my defense, I trade out opportune parry and riposte for something that would make me be attacked MORE. And I lose out on the dodge bonus so that i can give it to them. I mean it is in character for my character to do something like that but I'm worried about survivability

So I was wondering if I can get some advice on how to boost defenses and the overall concept of this build? Is there a better option for this?

So the Order of the Hero Cavalier gives a bonus equal to half your cavalier level to knowledge checks when identifying monsters...

And at level 4 the Disciple of the pike archetype for cavaliers gives you a bonus equal to half your cavalier level(as well as being able to make then untrained).

Since they are both untyped bonuses do they stack?

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

So I am theory crafting an unchained rogue with the Eldricth scoundrel archetype(not for society) and I have few questions.

1) does the spell automatically grant you sneak attack damage when you attack or do you still have to qualify for sneak attack? A friend read it that it just amde all your attacks sneak attack. But i thought it just gave you the class feature. Now I am unsure.

2) Does it stack with regular sneak attack? I'm assuming yes? If so if it does give you auto sneak attavk from other sources or do you still have to quailfy for sneak attack ala the rules of the class feature.

Thank you for your time and assistance ^-^

Does anybody else think it might be a fun idea to update some of the pathfinder adventure paths and change things up? The two ones that come to mind are Kingmaker and Skull and shackles.

The stolen lands can be the stolen planet, perhaps olegs outpost is a space station or a haven of technology/modern soceity in a mostly unexplored planet out in almost dead space?
