hey James

dimensional hop is a spell-like ability and as such provokes Attacks of opportunity upon activation. It is clear that moving in this way, through threatened squares do not provoke, but it becomes unclear to me if the activation, is also excluded seeing at you use a move action to activate it?

has the movement already begun upon activation?

reference:

"Dimensional Hop (Sp): At 8th level, you can teleport up to 10 feet per cleric level per day as a move action. This teleportation must be used in 5-foot increments and such movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. You must have line of sight to your destination to use this ability. You can bring other willing creatures with you, but you must expend an equal amount of distance for each creature brought."

This is exactly my thoughts. I've never seen one of these "SUMMONERS ARE OP OMG!!!" threads that wasn't unraveled by posting a build and having fourteen posters tell them why the build was invalid.

Now I HAVE built a Summoner correctly and can say that it is also easy to make what some might consider an OP eidolon but really its up to interpretation (though one of the players in my group spouting nonsense about his Dragon Disciple winning against my Eidolon in Melee ALMOST convinces me to show him the error of his ways.. can you say Vital strike for 18d8 damage Plus triple str mod?

cant wait for classic 3 act: [posting of the claimed OP build]

please post that build - you might win the price for the first (corectly build) overpowered Eidolon! :)

I have a request from a player that wishes to play a mobile teleporting class that has some decent combat ability

I have an inquisitor with the travel domain. 8th level power: dimensional hop, 10 feet per level per day as a move action.

invisibility on the spill list to ad to the concept of being elusive

and with solo teamwork feats, he is an exellent flanker.

Lion’s Shield

Aura moderate conjuration; CL 10th
Slot shield; Price 9,170 gp; Weight 15 lb.
Description
This +2 heavy steel shield is fashioned to appear to be a roaring
lion’s head. Three times per day as a free action, the lion’s
head can be commanded to attack (independently of the
shield wearer), biting with the wielder’s base attack bonus
(including multiple attacks, if the wielder has them) and
dealing 2d6 points of damage. This attack is in addition to any
actions performed by the wielder.
Construction
Requirements Craft Magic Arms and Armor, summon nature’s
----------------------

I really like this item for its levelling properties, drawing the to-hit from wielders attack bonus... but then I noticed the "base" in "base attack bonus" and got sad and frustrated ....(really!)

is it really limited to BAB only or what kind of bonuses and multipliers would apply to the shield?
would personal buffs like divine might cut it? - what about AO buff?
what about damage bonuses like sneak attack or smite evil

(I don't care what the rules might say, a horse is NOT 10 feet wide)

what an odd mental image, thats a very staut horse :)... but what about 10 feet long.

classes, artwork, something shiny

- Mainly paladins, cuz it was hinted that there would be something new for them "under the tree"....and im playing one ;)

Seriously, what rules do you enforce if you hold a campaign in your own home and friends come over to be PC's? I'll list mine:

No whistling (hurts my ears due to birth defect)

Im gonna introduce that right away - and no tapping of feet's, dancing or smiling... NO SMILING! (sorry fair enough if your ears are upside down, I just thought it was funny that it was you top/nr 1 rule)

Berselius wrote:

No running up or down the steps to the front door (I can't count how many times I've had to tell people that)

No making excessively loud noises in or in front of the residence (the guy downstairs needs his sleep too)

how old are you group? real funny if they are 50´ish

The "3 strike policy" (they get 3 warnings for serious offenses...after the 3rd if it happens again, they're out...and of course for people who refuse to leave the residence there is always 9/11 on speed dial)

I thought that you played with friends?

I get the reason behind all your rules... I just think they a a bit over the top. all of these should come naturally out of trust...not the fear of "striking out"

When the horse gets "war training" its stats are almost exactly that of a warhorse. Remember, the paladin does not take a level hit for his bonded mount, so when he gets it, it already has war training. That was just my code phrase for implying that it does not spook in combat.

OO i see - i misread the fist part of Jasons post (quoted above), as if there were some bonus stats included in "war training".

thx for the clarification.

I have looked around with no luck, so now im asking for directions if its already online.

where can I find a list of descriptions for the special qualities for the animal companions - like war training for horses?

I love the great... hmm... The EPIC Lenny family, and all the work you have put in to them Turin! I was hoping that you would get around to do the paladin, when I read the other Comparisons.

It seem that sweet 16 is gonna be just that -sweet- for all the martial classes, with every one shining in there own field. That said i agree with lastknightleft on the steep mountain climb from lv1-6 were most abilitys are very situational or inactive as stat bonuses... but that is for the other treats - this on is for the love of numbers, and the ones that "crunch" them.

thx

[edit: "crunch" not "crutch"... thoughtful?]
