The Twisted Circle captured the weirdness of the Manna waste.
The Twisted circle is very atmospheric and creepy. There are lots of chances to role play. The scenario even has a moral dilemma.
It is best played by a varied party to figure out the mystery. I played it in the 1-2 tier. A number of the clues are tied to skill checks so bring a bard. I was the fighter and was happy we had a wizard Bard and sorcerer to make the skill checks I didn't have. Many reviewers complained about the scenario having a choke point if you cant cast a spell from a scroll we had two scrolls and only used one of them. We fought the BBG and found the artifact. It was the other fighter who figured out what it was.
If all you want to do is hack and slash this scenario will force you to look outside the box.
The Gm should encourage the party to have a way to detect magic. The Gm may have to improvise to give more bread crumbs for skill light party. Also have a potion of talk with plants for the spell caster free party.
This scenario was refreshing change from many of the scenarios I have played and this one I will remember.
