So I know this is sort of a continuation of a thread I had in the gunslinger playtest section but I wanted to wait until UC was released to see the final product.

It didn't change much from the playtest. But thats OK, I was just going to go with it until my GM pointed out the newest bit of brokenness associated with the gunslinger class.

NO DCs TO CRAFT GUNS/AMMO.

WTF?! Really? Now how is this balanced? To put this in some perspective take the word firearm out and insert wand in its place.

Wandslinger gets a wand that shoots 'rays', that he can recharge everyday by just spending money (with no skill check involved), his 'rays' target touch AC but automatically bypass SR (but DR might apply). And he can craft new wands by just spending half the base price in materials and spending 1 day per 1,000 gp.

Every other item that you try and make requires a Craft check against a specific DC. Swords, bows, houses, etc. Magic Items requires Spellcraft checks to craft. If you fail checks the materials are wasted and you must start again.

But not guns, no check involved at all. In fact why would non-masterwork guns even exist since its not any harder to craft a masterwork gun. Any 1st-level expert can take the Gunsmithing feat and turn out guns of any type masterwork, advanced, whatever, as long as someone is willing to fund his work. If he has 1(!!) rank in craft alchemy he can turn out alchemical cartirges as well, with no check involved.

I'm sure someone out there will disagree with me and tell me I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about but whatever, if you don't want to admit that this is just totally wrong then fine. I would love to have guns and gunslinger in Pathfinder, I would also like them to not be broken just so that they can exist, this Gunsmithing thing is just too much.

Ok so now that Season 3 is almost upon us when exactly is Year of the Shadow Lodge going to be available to the general public?

Hyrum said it should be available sometime after season 3 begins but I can't seem to find anything in the product or upcoming products.

I thought I had this clear but while I was recently going over the text about when the Black Blade gains bonus languages and Knlg. (Arcana) skill ranks I noticed a little problem.

Languages and Skills: A black blade starts with Common as a language. As the black blade increases in Intelligence, it manifests knowledge of languages and arcane lore. Upon reaching an Intelligence of 12, it gains a bonus language of the GM’s choice, and gains 1 rank in Knowledge (arcana). Each time the sword gains a bonus to Intelligence, it gains another language and another rank in Knowledge (arcana).

I thought after reading this the first couple of times that the Black Blade gained these bonuses when its INT modifier went up (INT 14,16,18) but after reading it again, I noticed that it says when 'the sword gains a bonus to INT', so now I'm thinkin' that it gains the bonuses when its INT increases (INT 13,14,15 etc.)

Anybody got the 'official' word on this. I looked around but didn't notice anything on this.

Ok, I was cool with the summoner having to be 5th level to select the Improved Natural Armor evolution, even though the wording in the APG is kiinda misleading about this. HeroLab requires you to be 5th level to take it, which was how it came to my attention in the first place.

But now in UM the aquatic base form starts with Improved Natural Armor as one of its beginning evolutions.

So my question is this...do you have to be 5th level to take INA or not.

This also ties in to the Extra Evolution feat which has similar requirments.

If this has been discussed somewhere else, I apologize.

Your reply on my last thread (which I'm goning to leave dead) didn't answer the question on the availability of Advanaced Firearms on Golarion.

From your last post, it would seem to me that they are indeed available, and in more places than just Alkenstar (Numeria was mentioned in the post).

I know they won't appear in any official published material, thats not the question. Do they exist, and are they available for purchase at the prices indicated in the playtest document.

Also how is a revolver cheaper than a pistol?

Thank you in advance. And continued success.

I guess the developers didn't like me pointing out how silly their guns are...

One last example...I don't expect Stephen to let this live either...

15 1st level warriors versus a T-Rex...(AC 21, touch 7)

With bows and swords they have very little chance of hitting Mr. Rex. about 15% (given BAB and a +2 stat +1 for weapon focus [+4 total attack bonus])

Those same guys with guns hit poor ole' Mr. Rex 80% of the time. Just because they have guns. WTF?

Even if they aren't proficient they still hit 60% of the time, with a weapon they aren't even proficient with. If they weren't proficient with the bows/swords that chance goes down to 5%. Now is that fair, is that balanced. The swords and bows are doing 1d8 for a longbow, 1d8+STR for a longsword, and the musket deals 1d12. So lets see...
15% for 5-7 points of damage
80% for 6 damage.

The gun-wielders kill their dino, the other guys end up as dino-chow. And why? Because guns for some magical, physics defying reason simply pass right through the dino's thick nearly impervious hide.

Guns that work this way would overrun Golarion in a matter of months, with magic you can easily learn the screts of their creation, and the raw materials to make them don't cost thousands of gold. Katapesh, Cheliax, Andoran, Absalom, and every other metropolis/large kingdom would begin producing guns as fast as they could. Guns as touch attacks is both unbalanced and unrealistic. (yes I know I said unrealistic, deal)

How does a class that gets a full base attack bonus, 2 good saves, d10 Hit Dice and a ranged touch attack, seem balanced to anyone at Paizo? The Advanced Firearms just make things worse, the Revolver is cheaper than the basic Pistol and doesn't have a misfire chance and can make touch attcks out to 100 feet. What the hell?!?

And now you can multiclass with Fighter, so you can specialize with guns now.

I want to like the Gunslinger and guns but the way they work now just isn't fair. For any other Fighter to make ranged touch attacks like a Gunslinger they need a +4 weapon enhancement (Brilliant Energy) but a Gunslinger can do it with a regular non-magic gun, how is that fair?

Oh well, I can still hope that by the time the book comes out some of these egregious errors with the way guns work will be fixed.

Just finished going through the Second Darkness with a Monk and...

Spoiler:
after the +2 from the master glyph and the +3 book plus the insane ammount of treasure at the end

he ended up with an AC of 47! (25 point, point buy stats to start)

Now thats not a problem if your actually done with those characters but the GM was planning on a post-SD arc to get us to 20th level, but now his AC is 12-15 points higher than the rest of the party. Also nigh un-hittable by 90+% of the monsters in the Bestiary (Balor/Pit Fiend +33 or so Ancient Dragons +33-35 or so).
