Short Version:

You can download my full Savage Tide Eberron conversion here: http://jon.thompsonstaggs.com/Roleplaying/Public/STAPEberron/

Long Version:

I am running Savage Tide in Eberron. I have cleaned up my conversion notes into an form that anyone can download and use. These notes are, of course, based on the official Keith Baker conversion (copy-pasted where appropriate), but they are expanded and cover the entire adventure path.

Not everyone will like all the changes I made, but I think it should make it much easier to run STAP in Eberron. If you don't like certain things you can always cherry-pick what you like.

The nice thing about having a full conversion is that you can effectively allude to what is coming because you know what it is.

I know its a bit late, but it took quite a while to work these up, and some more time to make them into an professional-style document.

Anyways, let me know what you think.

Hi! I loved these conversion notes back in the day, but I recently lost them when my HDD fried itself. Would it be possible to re-upload this? The link isn't working anymore.

Thanks a lot!

Am I right that all of the spell-like abilities from Terendelev's scales are at Caster Level 19?

And would that mean that resist energy (I assume that "resist elements" on p. 65 was a typo) grants resistance 30 against electricity and cold?

I know that the magic items are pretty powerful in this campaign -- I just wanted to make sure I got this right.

That's correct. Not a typo.

I'm still confused, "resist elements" doesn't exists, is it resist energy or endure elements? I know it's most likely to be resist energy, but I'd still like to get this right.

Thanks, that helped a lot. I was wondering what happens to monsters? Are there any monster restriction? What about spells?

I appreciate your replies.

Can anyone tell me what defines a Low-Powered Campaign, or where can I get more info??

if they EVER make it out alive, imagine the tons of XP they'll get!!! Hopefully, as mentioned above, protection from evil will protect them against the most dreaded domination.

Best of luck dealing with the kopru!

Thanks vikingson, actually that's what I'be been doing, I added Tlaloc as a long-ancient and forgotten "Khunan" god of rain, It worked well, I didn't added any Khyber elements in "The Lightless Depths", but it still worked alright, the party just reached Golismorga, and they're happy, next week we'll be finishing the chapter.

Now, for the last chapters. Does anybody know in which book I can find in-depth info about Khyber? I don't know if there's any.

As posted above, I'm running an Eberron game. I'm thinking in locating Scuttlecove in Xen'drik, would this be a good idea? Where is Greyhawk's Scuttlecove located anyway?

As for any conversions, I'm having trouble with some nonstandard deities like Laogzed, Zotzilaha, Tlaloc etc. I don't know what to convert them to, I already switched Laogzed with The Shadow, and it did ok. But honestly I regret running STAP on Eberron. I'm having too much confusion converting things.

Yes, I was asking for STAP conversions, thanks anyway. It's a good idea to ask specifically, Fletch I'll consider it.

My group is playing in Eberron, and the party is currently descending through the Isle of Dread in chapter 6, "The Lightless Depths", and I don't know how many miles below the surface I can start placing Khyber elements.

Any Ideas?

I know this is getting old, but, is there any hope for us Eberron/FR DMs?

The Achaierai, from D&D Miniatures Aberrations set, is a good proxy, that's what i used for my Terror Birds, they're rare though, but you can find it in ebay as low as $6.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

What about FR/Eberron conversions? Any luck getting this too at the end of the month?

The huge Purple Worm from War of The Dragon Queen DDM set?

yup! it worked great for me! It's an uncommon mini from the WoTDQ set, so you can still find it with ease.

Scuttlecove is apparently in southern Q'barra, according to Keith Baker's notes.

Notes? Did Keith already posted any more Conversion Notes? I don't seem to find any notes after "Here There Be Monsters". Are there any new notes?

I think the latest reaper series has sets of demon wings that you can glue onto other figs. Problem is, I haven't found a good subject yet.

In the spirit of completely jacking a thread, has anyone found a good figure for the vine horrors in SWW? I think there's some kind of shambling mound in the new minis series from WOTC, but I'm not sure how big it is.

"Demon Wings", interesting, I'll search for this too. Thanks Luke.

By the way, I used Stormrage Shamblers from the Unhallowed set as vine horrors, and it went down just right. I just made them "Large vine horrors".

The Stormrage Shambler is Large. Another DDM option resembling vine horrors is the Twig Blight from the War of the Dragon Queen set, but this are small creatures, i preferred the Shamblers.

Hey whatsup? Do you know of any miniature resembling Vanthus in Tides of Dread? I'd love to get one just for playing Vanthus. Thanks!

I saw a good recommendation for the "Mephisto, Arch Devil" fig by Reaper, #2729 in their set. You might have a look at that. I guess it's a little big scalewise, but otherwise it looks pretty much dead on, wings and all.

Thanks Weasel, "Mephisto, Arch Devil" is the closest I could find for Vanthus, despite its "weird wings for a demon", I think this is the best, and it is a 25mm mini!! I'm getting this for sure to play Vanthus!!

Character: Seth (Goliath Warblade); Lilliane (NPC/Sea Wyvern passenger)
Adventure: The Sea Wyvern's Wake
Location: Atikula River (River Menace Encounter)
Catalyst: A very hungry Aquatic Hydra.

The hungry Hydra attacked both Seth and Tursk (The other fighter in the party), Tursk was brought down to negatives so the party's cleric had to assist him as quickly as he could. But the Hydra then concentrated only on Seth, attacking with all its seven heads, killing him.
By witnessing this, Lilliane, one of the passengers who was on land by that time, foolishly attacked the Hydra, the Hydra attacked back before the party could intervene, killing poor Lilliane.
After the party killed the Hydra, they opened it and they found a dead body with a ring, this ring would bring back Seth from the death. Just to be killed again in the next encounter.

Character: Seth (Goliath Warblade); Jules (Follower)
Adventure: The Sea Wyvern's Wake
Location: Aboard the Sea Wyvern
Catalyst: Tursk, yes Tursk.

While the party was sleeping, Rowyn Kellani managed to get into their room very quietly, killing Jules who was the only one awake guarding it but he was very sleepy, so he didn't noticed her entering the room, one blow was enough to kill the poor guy.
After this, Rowyn used her invisibility to cut a yardarm so it fell upon some PCs, (i had a terrible roll at dealing damage), the PCs woke up just to notice poor Jules lying dead on the floor. After this, she attacked the party's sorcerer, revealing herself, she was attacked by some of the PCs. The next round, Rowyn managed to charm Seth and tod him, "They're your enemies, you have to kill them all!", he obeyed. My players tought, "Let's use lethal damage, until he is about fifteen HP", they inflicted him lethal damage, he attacked them as well, but was Tursk who never got to disarm him with his spiked chain and with a critical hit cut Seth's throat, leaving him in -14. He didn't thought he would score a critical against his own friend.
After the battle against Rowyn, who was calcined to death by a critical hit by a scorching ray. Seth was raised again by Adara, a Cleric aboard the Blue Nixie.

Where were the Jade Ravens when you needed them?

Anyway, I know Toolbag's reached Farshore, so if there is any family there he probably knows about them.

Oops! Ok, i just thought they just met him and already hated his guts just like my party did. They doubt every one of his moves and think he is responsible of many of their voyage's misfortunes.

Mothman wrote:

What's your character's alignment? Assassination would in most cases be an evil act and may have serious alignment implications.

Is there a better solution for working out your hate?

Also, i think he has family in farshore - they could seek revenge

No spoilers!

Anyway, I say cut down the bastard! Well, only if you can make it appear like an "accident".

I never liked him either! heheheh

I'd like to know how you silenced him afterwards!

Happy killings!

This is where I think the IoD would be located.

As everybody knows, the Conversion Notes for "The Sea Wyvern's Wake" are now available in the resources area.
Let's comment in a properly named thread, shall we?
XD

I have a map for all you Eberron DM's although it's not official, it's just my idea of where the IoD in Eberron would be located.

My advice is to place it anywhere you want in the approximate location. The isle is a big place, but it's also one that's not well-known. It probably shouldn't be an island that's appeared on a map before, in any event.

Thanks James for the tip!

Same question for me... I replaced most of the journey destinations with some of the unnamed isles north of Sasserine (In the Lhazaar Principalities), one thing I guessed right is the Brotherhood Blockade encounter, I was planning as an encounter involving Prince Mika's Cloudreavers. My IoD is located in the Sea of Rage, but I just realized the IoD is somewhere in the Dragonreach, the question is, where? Any visual aids anyone?
Thx.

James Jacobs wrote:

Ok: final edits have been entered. The file's being sent over soon to go online.

Yay James, you The Man!

Any luck for us Desperate Eberron DMs??

yup! I've done the same thing for my IoD in Eberron, somewhere between Khorvaire and Sarlona, I've also put the Forts and encounters in the unnamed isles of the Lhazaar Principalities, and for Tamoachan... I couldn't get a Sarlonan name for it, so we temporarily named it as it is. The last session ended with the PCs leaving Tamoachan and heading for Fort Greenrock. Those conversion notes seem to be taking ages.
As my fellow DM Pop'N'Fresh said, PLEEEEASE James, (We know you work to the bone in this) do whatever you can to get this CN as soon as possible! We'll appreciate it a lot! Thanks!

Pop'N'Fresh wrote:

I'd like to see The Sea Wyvern's Wake conversion notes too please, as I have no clue where to place the Isle of Dread. My group will be playing this adventure on March 1st, so some notes before then will help greatly.

Even just a quick post telling me where to place the Isle would solve virtually all my problems.

Thanks!

That makes two of us dude... Well actually I posted on a WoTC forum about where to place The IoD in Eberron, and someone helped me with the very first paragraph of the First conversion notes here at Paizo, I had it in front of me the whole time!! That gave me an idea where to place it, nevertheless I'm very desperate to get those SWW conversion notes, because of the other destinations of the journey. I'll be running SWW tomorrow and I had to make up every destination. I hope the upcoming conversion notes don't take too much like this one.

You might want to take a look at the pdf download of STAP for Forgotten Realms and Eberron. I thought it was well done (a better tie in for Eberron than Forgotten Realms IMHO).

Thanks, but if you're talking about the Eberron conversions in this site, I don't seem to find anything beyond Chapter 2 (The Bullywug Gambit).

I'm about to start Chapter 3 (The Sea Wyvern's Wake) and I don't know where to place The Isle of Dread in the map of Eberron.

Where is your Eberron Isle of Dread located?? Any ideas or suggestions??

Well, I'm an Eberron DM and my PCs are:

Chandra, male Human Psionic Artificer 2, the techie of the group, he dreams about an airship for the party. He just joined the party, so his true skills are still unknown to his mates.

Thursk, male Half-Orc Fighter 3 with a knack for Chains (future Master of Chains PrC), he likes to disarm his foes, and he excels at it. He likes to interrogate foes by lifting them from their necks with his chain. He has such good manners with people.

Drake, male Brass Dragonblood Sorcerer 3/Human Paragon 1, "Drake, Sorcerer Supreme" as he claims, the cocky but charismatic spellcaster who tries to impress Lavinia. He is a master with Magic Missile and he often is the party's last hope when his mates are down.

Seth, male Goliath Warblade 2, this bruiser-tough-guy often argues with Drake comparing their combat skills, he also claims Lavinia will be his. He's an escaped prisoner from the Lotus Dragons. You can't believe how strong but unaccurate he is. When he hits, it hurts, a lot.

They've just arrived to Kraken's Cove and had their first clashes with the Savage Tide.

I recently found one D&D first edition module called "X1 The Isle of Dread", i was wondering if this module could be useful for STAP, what do you think?

Hello everyone, I've just started DMing Savage Tide.
Do you think if it's it ok for my players to make them read the "Sasserine" suplement found in Dungeon #139? I don't think there are any spoilers. What do you think?
