I don't know where you are sneaking into so I will assume it is some sort of black tie event.

Dress up as a butler and put your shield under a tray of hors d'oeuvres.

If your shield is too big for that have it baked into a cake and wheel it in on a cart.

If you don't have time to bake a cake just fill the shield up with fruit and carry it in. If anyone asks why you have a broad sword on your belt it is because you need it to cut the pineapples.

I found one other way which can work on any weapon. That is using the Bards Versatile Performance as Martial Performance to get proficiency with any one weapon.
This might not be as good of a deal as some others but it could also be used to get proficiency in an exotic weapon. So that is a cool option.

Thanks VoodistMonk!
I was looking at the Heirloom Weapon trait but that looks like you are proficient with that one weapon. Which is fine for a Great Sword but not if you want to be throwing Starknives.

Tattooed Mystic is an easy solution.

Am I missing something here?

I have been trying to make a Bard that takes the Divine Fighting Starknives feat in place of Versatile Performance at Level 2. It looks like a fun build except for one problem. Bards are not proficient with Starknives.

Surely this is some sort of oversight. There must be an easy way to get Starknife proficiency as a bard.

I am sure any decent DM would say just take Starknife instead of Whip but it is better to know your options.

Any ideas?

I'm going to take a different route and say Sacred Geometry. It's great for a player, bad for the other players and GM.

Sacred Geometry would be a great feat if you were GMing for your kids and like the idea of them sharpening their math skills while playing the game. But boy would I hate to watch another player struggling with this every round.

Rapier. Used by your bard with Butterfly sting feat to pass your crits over to the Barbarian with the Great Axe.

You might want to try a character who has more to do in between turns. I am currently playing a bard with the spell Saving Grace. As an immediate action I can end my performance to let an ally re-roll a save.

This means that I need to be doing spell craft checks on every spell and decide if someone fails is it worth me casting or not.

I also have Combat Expertise to get lots of attacks of opportunity and also Bodyguard. Bodyguard lets me take AOOs to improve my allies armor class when I am next to them.

This gives me plenty to be thinking about during other people's turns.

I totally agree with VoodistMonk that the party doesn't need to be perfect. A party with holes or shortcomings can force different ways of thinking. Maybe get the group to agree on some odd party mixes. Like everyone is a bard. Or everyone is a cleric. Or everyone is a Dwarf.

Good Luck!

When I have players make characters I tell them all to do their best job of making a character. I tell them that I might be enhancing their characters to some degree.

I tell them that I understand some of them are better at building a character than others and if I don't do much to enhance their characters they should consider that a compliment.

The weaker built characters may get a little bump in an attribute or perhaps an extra feat.

I urge them to run what they want and to consider running classes or races or combinations that are less than optimized knowing that they get a boost if it is needed to make the character work.

Thanks! That is an excellent guide. So it looks like my go-to form for scent tracking will be a Charau-Ka. If I wear a little red jacket and a fez people will think I am someones ugly pet monkey.

Nothing weird about that at all.

If I want to look cool and maybe command some respect I can go with the Adlet which is kind of a humanoid white wolf.

So Alter Self says that if the humanoid form you turn into has abilities then you get them. It lists scent as an example.

So what are humanoid creatures that actually have scent? I always chose Rat Folk but then I realized that scent is an alternate trait for them. Orcs can also take scent as an alternate.

While it sounds fun to cherry pick through the alternate racial traits I am worried that a DM might not like that idea.

So what humanoid creatures have scent as a standard ability and I guess which ones have it as an alternate option would be useful as well.

I know there are plenty of ways to get scent but I liked the idea of changing a variety of different humanoids that specialize in different situations.

The worse you are at fighting the better Butterfly sting is.

If you did any real damage you might want to keep the crit for yourself. And that means you wasted two feats to get it.

Oh and now that you mentioned it Riving strike is next on my list to try out. Another great way to setup others for the kill.

I am currently playing a bard. I wanted to be able to actually get involved in the combat but it is hard to keep up with the combat guys. What I went with was Combat Expertise and Butterfly Sting. You have to worship Desna and you will want to use a rapier. Eventually a keen rapier. It lets you crit fish. When you get a crit you can opt to only get a regular hit and turn the next party hit on that target into a crit.

This lets you pull off some heroic moments in battle. After you get the target off balance it signals your buddy with the great axe to go with a full power attack. And if it hits it is automatically a confirmed crit.

After you set him up with a few of those there will be at least one guy who doesn't think you are useless.

Choose the same faction as the other player. But secretly provide information to the other side.

Starting a game every other Friday evening. Golarion map. non adventure path. We are older players who have played together before. This campaign should last for over a year with characters getting into the teens. There will be rewards for writing posts between games. Uncommon races are strongly encouraged.

What about a ManBearPig? I think that is half man half bear and half pig.

OK here is my advice. Dracovar has it right. Put down the spell book and concentrate on the journal. Use you linguistics and sense motive. Try to find out why the wizard was hiding out. What is he afraid of? What is he looking for? What does he want?

Now figure out how your party can help him. You have to convince him that you are "worthy" and that the skills you demonstrated killing him could be put to good use solving his problems. Wait for him to scry on you (He will) and then role play.

As a GM I would see this as a great opportunity. The party, acting on there own free will, has put themselves in position where they have to do task after task to avoid the retribution of a vengeful wizard. You have given your GM several months worth of plot hooks. Now he can send you to the cool adventures and not have to worry about how you found out about them.

A player asked me today if there is the Almighty God in the gods of Pathfinder. I don't see that there is? They want their PC to worship the God Almighty.

FIRST QUESTION:
Is there any Pathfinder rules surrounding a Paladin worshipping the Almighty God (God of the Holy Bible) in a non-PFS?

SECOND QUESTION:
I've read several posts on the requirement of a Paladin to worship a god, and don't see it required in the CRB. Can you direct me to the area in the CRB talking about a paladin worshipping a god? All i see is a mention in the first sentence, " shines the power of the divine", and under Divine Bond.."forms a bond with her god."

I addressed this in a 3.5 campaign I ran years ago. It was a fantasy version of Europe in the 1600s The characters were basically on the side of Hapsburg Austria and the primary enemy was the Ottoman Empire. I gave the characters options to use Greek, Egyptian and Norse pantheons. I also gave them the option to be Catholic or Jewish. If they wanted to get any special effects for those religions such as cleric domains, paladins forming a special bond etc... they would have to choose either a patron saint an angel or an ideal.

Paladins might take Archangel Micheal, leader of Gods army. Clerics who want the fire domain may go with Archangel Gabriel known for destroying Sodom and Gomorrah.

The nice thing about the Angels is they are pretty much the same in the Catholic, Judaism and Muslim faiths.

Thanks. And Rats! I think I really want to go Ninja with the Ki pool and all. Evasion would be nice but I can live without it. Any ideas on dealing with magical traps? Or other ways of getting trap finding? Or do I just settle for detecting the traps.

Another route would be to go
Monk 2
Ninja 2
Sorcerer 2

The flurry of misses is rather cat like. Still cant deal with magic traps though.

There is a ninja trick that allows you to use any trick avail but the cost in ki is substantial. I think it's called Forgotten Trick or something like that. (at work no books)

Thanks, I was considering that. There is an item. Ring of Ki Mastery 10,000 GP that reduces the costs of Ninja tricks by 1. (Still a 1 point minimum) The only trick I see that uses 2 is the forgotten knowledge one that you are mentioning. So with that you could pay one to get access to the trick and then pay the trick cost. Still a little expensive but the ring also holds 2 ki in it that can be used any time. It also gives a +2 CMD against grapples trips etc... Definitely something to consider.

I am working on a Catfolk Ninja mix. I would like him to be able to contribute to combat and not just be a trap finder. I am looking for skills and abilities that are very catlike. I have a good plan up to level 5 but am looking for some other ideas. 20 point build Dex +2 Ch +2 W -2

S 10
D 16
C 14
I 10
W 10
Ch 16

Ninja 2 levels
Rogue 2 levels
Sorcerer 1 level Karmic bloodline

I kind of feel pressure to take Rogue to get trapfinding. As long as I am there I figure I may as well go to level 2 to get evasion since it is not available to Ninja till level 10
Karmic Sorcerer is an interesting dip because it gives a small curse to any who hit you. This represents the idea of bad luck to cross a cats path.
It would also be nice to have access to spells like ray of frost for ranged touch sneak attacks. Shield seems like a good 1st level spell but I am not sure what else to consider.
For Tricks I am looking at Vanish and Pressure Points.
I like the idea of striking and then using a swift action to vanish.
The pressure points makes it seem like a cat playing with his prey. You can keep hitting them for a Str or Dex damage making them less able to hit you back.
Combine that with the Karmic curse and being invisible and it should be pretty hard to hit this guy.

Any ideas for later levels? Ninja/Rogue tricks, Items or wands that would help make him more catlike?
