DH is Doomed Hero, Ragnar's player. He modified the heroic paths presented in Midnight Core rules to work better with Pathfinder. Ilona is using his version of Charismatic Heroic Path.
What I meant by "investing in storytelling" is that, essentially, I will let you be more powerful or tougher at certain level than normal, if it makes for good story. You role playing is excellent and I enjoy it, but in my games you have more freedom than usual. For instance, you recently got in touch with the spirits of some ancient dwarves and you used your fate point to gain full understanding of Ancient Dwarven language. When you reach 2nd level, you will modify your character and change the feats etc. gained at 1st level in addition to taking new stuff gained at 2nd level. How will you change 1st level stuff? You fall into trance suddenly and you dream of life of one of those ancient dwarves. A part of his memories become yours and replace some of yours. You gain part of his knowledge, represented by his feats, proficiency with certain weapons and languages, but you balance that by loosing something as well. We do not want you to loose anything mechanically, so I will limit you just a little in your role playing opportunities. For instance, that dwarf was a warrior prince of an ancient long forgotten clan. He gains certain measure of life living through you and he speaks to you in his dreams, urging you to find out what happened with his clan. Etc. All of this is just an idea that I got right now, but it should work as an example of ways you can modify your character and not break the story. For me, the story is more important than the rules.
I just want to add that the first time I played midnight I don't think I actually killed anything untill 3rd lvl. DH was my GM and it was my first game. I was so taken in by the story however that I dident mind getting the shit kick out of me every time and oh how I almost died so often. In retrospect I love what it did for my charecter because I had an nice arch of going from "out of my league" to "Bad ass". As long as you realize this and can play it up then you should be all set.
Just a quick note. That's kinda what I'm going for with this guy. He actually pretty good stat wise with a sword but story wise it makes no sense so I don't think he will do much with it. Just wanted to put that out there.
I posted back story though I will say that writing back stories isn't my strong suit.
What do you have in mind for bonus feat? Remember, it should be based on your background.

Your character concept is awfully close to Ragnar's I'm afraid there will be a lot of overlapping. Also, you don't have the skills, offense, traits and equipment chosen and defined. I'm sorry, but your character is far from finished. There is still room for you in the game, but please finish your character. Take a look how Ragnar, Ilona or Pete, if you want simplicity, did their sheets.
Me and Ragnar have already sat down and talked at length about our characters and there actually is surprisingly little overlap. My ghost companion will be the only companion I plan on picking up and his role will be minor. He will basically be my source for spell research seeing as how wisdom based casters learn from spirits. Also our character flavor and play styles are so far different.
And I know how to make a character sheet, I will have that done soon enough. I just assumed that it was really back story that was holding me back from entering the game.

Spoiler:
Haunted from Ravenloft 3rd edition.
Haunted
The spirit of a friend, ally, or loved one has
returned from the grave to watch over you as a
geist.
Prerequisite: For the obvious reason, someone
close to you must have died.
Benefit: Your guardian spirit normally remains
in the Near Ethereal. Those who can see
ethereal creatures may spot the geist lurking near
you, but it is otherwise invisible and intangible.
The geist acts as a second pair of eyes and ears
when it manifests, allowing you a second roll on
Search, Spot, and Listen checks. The geist can also
inform you of events that take place in your
presence while you are asleep or unconscious, or it
can simply offer companionship.
Special: The geist communicates through
phantasms; it cannot affect physical objects. You
can ask the geist to manifest whenever you are
alone. The geist immediately vanishes if another
intelligent, living creature enters the scene. You
can summon the geist as often as you want, but
each time it manifests, it inflicts 1 point of temporary
Charisma damage as it unconsciously draws
strength from your will to live.
Hey, I'm alive again. First thing, I am really sorry about that "deal with it". I now realize it was rough, but the fever is bugging me for the last few days, so I'm a little grumpy. It was meant for characters and not for players. I hope that nobody was offended, and if someone was I most sincerely apologize.
Now, back to business.
gabboge, can you finish your character till Monday? If it's not finished by then, you'll have to wait a while until opportunity presents itself to introduce him to the group.
Ragnar, do you intend to be just "raven guy", or do you plan to do something with wolves as well? And please assign languages and hit points to the ravens, as per the spell.
Ilona, Solvistania and Chops, this game is Mature Content. If you want to explore sexuality of your characters it's fine by me.
If the character dies, some other options open. For one thing, Ragnar's proximity makes it probable that the dead character shall rise as Fell like Ragnar's brother. If the player doesn't want that, he can create another character. But all depends on the circumstances.
Now, there will be some home rules applied as soon as you exit the tunnel. I will post them here before I write anything in the game thread, just in case that some of you think that they break the mood of the game. Midnight IS doom and gloom, but your characters are heroes who should spark some light in the darkness, after all.
And thank you for the kind words. I hope that you will enjoy the game.
I can finish by monday. If you don't mind my background being a bit rough.
Having a Pc is like having a nice old muscle car. You can really work on it and customize it the way you like. It requires some work but is well worth it for performance. Mac is like a extreemly new sports car with the engine welded in so good luck ever working on it, and its gunna cost a lot of money.
Dude, I *have* a nice old muscle car (74 Maverick). I work on it about twice a month, because I enjoy it.
I also have a sports car with a damn good engine (01 Camero) that I couldn't even begin to work on.
I drive the Camero because it just works and never breaks down. The Maverick needs a new repair every single time I take it out.
I don't want my technology to require constant maintenance. I just want it to be simple, reliable and effective. If I have to pay more for that, so be it.
Yea, luckly my maintenance costs me zero dollers because I know what I am doing and less time then I spend shaving so saving money/having a better computer for the money I spent is well well worth it.
BTW, rest of my charecter will be up soon. Sorry I have been swamped with work and backstory is always the hardest part for me to get togather.
Apple makes great on the verge of outstanding equipment, but their company arrogance, and poor customer support turned me off of them years ago. In fact after one incident I sold my (2) Ipods, my Iphone, and my two Imac's all at once I was so angry, and swore I'd never go back again. Really a shame too, because as I said I really liked their equipment.
I know that Apple is big in the States, but here in Serbia it costs more than twice as much for the same computing strength, and users here tend to like to upgrade their machines, and I don't think that is really possible with Apple.
Naw it costs about twice as much for the same computing strength here but people are just ok with it here. People here just don't want to bother upgrading their computer.

OK, so I posted what I have so far. Now I know as my current build I will probably get mauled horribly for the first lvl or two but that's OK for me if its OK for GM. In fact I kinda like the ark or going from weak to a powerhouse. but if that doesn't fit the story then please tell me so.
I was thinking about him being a story teller type. All about the power of the spoken word. I was thinking going the speaker rout but that was too obvious and I think dreamer is cooler flavor wise.
I think his bone item should be a amulet (not magical but decoration) he wears around his neck.
You know what would be awesome? More Dorns! That would be awesome.
Dorn does sounds cool but I think I would much rather play a Sarcosan if I could. For heroic paths, I like Dreamer and Speaker. I was thinking spell caster to build up to Haunted One.
You should totally be a Dorn. With that concept you pretty much tie *directly* into Eyvendr and Ragnar's back story. (seriously, if you can tie your character into the ruins of Nalford or House Fallon, we could do some really cool scenes.)
And I cave into peer pressure. Sounds good. Now I just gotta read up on Dorns a bit. Out of all the human races they are the ones I have read the least of.
