I'll be at the PFO presentation as well.

Goblin Squad Member

Me too!

Goblin Squad Member

It might be a litle early yet, but I am making the trip from the UK to GenCon in August and I was wondering if there will be anything going on with PFO? I haven't seen anything in the current event catalogue, but that doesn't mean that things might not be happening 'off con'.

Goblin Squad Member

Good news!

Thanks Ryan and Nihimon!

Goblin Squad Member

That's good news if it's the case!

Is there anything official on that somewhere?

Goblin Squad Member

Hey,

Does anyone know what will happen to unallocated buddies after June 30 when the pledge manager closes? Some of my friends are dragging their heels on getting their accounts set up!

Goblin Squad Member

You can actually see that the pledge manager has been linked to your account on the account page. I had a look but at least one section just crashes, so investigate at your own risk!

Goblin Squad Member

I too am concerned about this. I mentioned lag before on the Kickstarter comments and Ryan told me that it is less of an issue for MMOs, but I still think this is going to be an issue with the PVP aspect fo the game.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm going for the first time. It's a long flight from England so I'll have to take plenty of Pathfinder books to read!

So as a guild backer I will get 6 copies of the pdfs, or I am going to be forced into deciding who to give my copies of the game to now, 18 months before anyone will get to play the game?

Goblin Squad Member

I am planning a Lawful Evil character, based in (and hopefully running) a lawful neutral settlement. More the manipulating things to my own ends evil than murdering babies kind of evil. I imagine my in game actions will translate into a LN aligmnent, but my roleplay interactions should hopefully allow the evil side to show through.

Goblin Squad Member

Isn't 1 how the survival skill has been modelled in games in the past? I'm sure I have played a game where my survival type skill affected my minimap, but I cannot place the name.

Goblin Squad Member

I would guess a minimum of one week, as I think thats how long KS give you to make your payment. GoblinWorks will probably get the backers list in the days after that and then that needs to be handed off to Paizo to release the PDFs.

Why do line of sight? Wouldn't collision on the projectile be better? If someone gets in the way at the wrong time they will get hit by the arrow (as an example).

Goblin Squad Member

Yes, I was hoping to be able to gift my Core Rulebook to my brother as I already own it in PDF and Print.

Goblin Squad Member

SWTOR and Dark souls

Goblin Squad Member

Funded projects always have a lot of people backing if there is time left I have noticed. I guess people don't want the risk of faliure.

Goblin Squad Member

Do bear in mind that the elite kickstarter also got covered on the BBC news and a famous Irish comedian reached out to his 1.2M followers on Twitter, so it might not be a fair comparison.

Goblin Squad Member

I really need to see more details before I start committing, but a katana wielding settlement leading wizard intrigues me.

Goblin Squad Member

Wow! Thats a lot of books!

Guess I'll have 6 more copies of the core rulebook now though :p

Goblin Squad Member

Blackthorns Band currently has no plans to use Teamspeak.

Goblin Squad Member

I just saw a Pathfinder Online advert on the Penny Arcade main page. Hopefully that will help the campaign gather speed and perhaps a few more publications will start to pick up on PFO.

While I would love to see player run church organizations, I'm still not seeing what I want to see. A neutral trade and mercantile organization, the only real rules being turn a profit, and do not interfere with trade.

As a player this is what I can support the most, but I don't intend to run any characters that would be an integral part of such an organization.

Im sure things like that will develop, and isn't a church of Abadar sort of what you describe?

Goblin Squad Member

Yes, I think it would be good too. Maybe it will get rolled out as part of the Crowdforger Guild campaign?

I only noticed the word count after I submitted. I had to do a count after the fact and luckily fell (quite far) underneath it. I'm now more worried about my entry being auto rejected than I was when writing the item in the first place!

Is RPKing Random Player Kill(ing), or am I being dense?

Goblin Squad Member

English fail, I meant if people ask these sites, not sites ask these people :p

Goblin Squad Member

That is where we come in. Get with the outreach program people! If these sites ask people to cover something, its in their interest to give the readers what they want!

I have personally contacted a few sites to let them know about the awesome potential this project has!

I am very interested to see how many new pledges there are now before Sunday.

I'm sure they would or else players could where a bunch of these to save threads. Good question though. Safe than sorry.

I have a question though Ryan. You say in the update the items will have minimal (if any) game effect. Should I take this to mean it will be the equivalent of starter gear, literally have no effect, or will it be a cosmetic option to apply to your existing gear?

Expect standard gear but with exclusive bling, as well as some items that are purely cosmetic.

Thansk Vic. I was expecting standard gear, but cosmetic options are nice too :)

Goblin Squad Member

I assume then it gives the dates of all your upgraded pledges too, rather than just the first date?

Goblin Squad Member

Well, that will only happen if we hit $1M. Keep pledging!

Goblin Squad Member

Yeah, this would be great for me too, especially as I am sure it will be packaged with my subscription items so it will be a hefty whack on import duty as I think its done on total value.

Goblin Squad Member

A late Christmas gift as the KS doesn't end until mid Jan :)

Or I guess you could mean next Christmas...

Goblin Squad Member

I cannot get onto Kickstarter from work. Any chance the list could be duplicated here?

Goblin Squad Member

Well, Blackthorns Band claims it is lawful and the settlement would definately be lawful (perhaps with an evil twist).

However, any alignment is OK to join, subject to the rules of the game. It might not be possible for a chaotic character to join a lawful society after all! Not everyone wants to play a lawful character and unlike my character, I'm accepting of people who don't agree with my moral choices :p

Goblin Squad Member

That was my thinking too

Goblin Squad Member

Lets hope it picks up. Projections are now that it will miss the $1M mark :(

Me too, and Beasts of War. They don't cover many RPGs, but it's worth a shot.

Goblin Squad Member

Perhaps Penny Arcade might feature it? Tycho has promoted Kickstaters before I think and I know they did at least one Pathfinder comic. Large click throughs will soon follow!

Goblin Squad Member

I really hope the funding campaign is successful. I would love to see this in print and it seems like something pretty unique in the RPG world with these authors coming together.

I must say though that I thought the Kickstarter would be further along by now, so I am a little concerned!

Goblin Squad Member

I am based in England, so Blackthorns Band will have a Europe focus.

Goblin Squad Member

I honestly don't know yet. I would need a bit more firm details on what skills are available to each class. I definately want to be able to construct a settlement and take skills to support that, but I would like some combat utility.

This will probably mean I end up playing a Conjurer and make my summoned minions fight for me whilst I sit in my personally constructed Wizard tower protected by walls of force.

Goblin Squad Member

Personally I think the politician angle is better as long as it is a secret that the bard owns the museum and he is posing as an upsatanding, but outraged, citizen.

I prefer villains who position themselves as heroes. Hopefully that is the way my alter ego is coming across, who is based on a PnP character I want to play in Pathfinder Online, I just need to cement a class for him!

In this case, we're limited by the data—in this case, the timestamp on your pledge—that Kickstarter gives us; we'll be using those timestamps to order entry into each month.

I *think* it gives us the timestamp of your initial pledge, regardless of value, but I'm not sure.

Vic, I'm trying to get my D&D group to go for the guild level. If we do, and I upgrade my Crowdforger Buddy to Crowdforger Guild, do I "loose my place in line," so to speak?

I would be interested to know this too. I think I was pledge number 1 at the Guild level. If I decide to up my pledge for add ons later I don't really want to lose that place!

On the subject of add ons, would something like what Reaper did work, where you could buy add ons after your original pledge had been processed with Kickstarter?

Callix is basically living through the nightmare stories that her mother had spent her entire life preparing her for - but, having grown up in the south and being more than a little rebellious, that she spent her life ignoring and fighting back for. She's a bit of a drunk (and very pleased that she can magically conjure ale every day), and while she's generally trying to stay positive - she also can't believe that she's literally in the middle of trying to restore the Baba Yaga to her throne, given everything that the Irriseni white witches have done to their neighbours (doubly so, in that she was raised in the traditions of the Blackravens) -- but she also believes that Cayden Cailean has led her here for a reason, and totally understands the notion of the lesser of evils (though she secretly hopes that it might be possible to break the cycle rather than restore it).

She has been more than skeptical of Letitia, however, their time together has done a lot to shift that -- in fact, Callix is often surprised by not only the fact that she trusts Letitia (with her life), but that she genuinely values her and cares for her... and, ultimately, believes that she can 'save' her from her past and history, to avoid her becoming the very sort of witch that the Blackravens were created to hunt. (..and, believes that there's been at least a small measure of success, between her own interventions and those of Samuel).

Callix likes Samuel and they get along, though she thinks he's in love with the witch, even if he's not realized it (and, honestly, thinks that Letitia may reciprocate). She was closest to Alec, before his death.

Wishing a Merry Christmas to all.

I'm giving each of you your choice of:

1. One shiny hero point. Potentially, a life saver. -or-
2. One free "transfer enchantment" device.

(That means if you find a +2 Holy Turkey Baster +2, but you really wanted a magic Potato Masher, you can put the +2 Holy Turkey Baster and a masterwork Potato Masher into the device, press the button, ignore the nasty grinding sounds, and after 60 nervous minutes, open the box to find a +2 Holy Potato Masher, and the burnt out wreckage of what was once a a Turkey Baster.)

Your choice, but you only get one.

Oh, apologies. I just noted that reach is expressly excluded from the list of potential evolutions. So the elemental would need to move in to slam Fiona. Which, it will - that'll trigger an AoO from the ant and Fiona - since it's exiting the square that triggers, and it's still in her reach when it does that (it's not inside her reach until after it moves). And, since it moved, it can't use it's nasty extra bite attack.

Also, the grizzly doesn't have a gore - was looking at the wrong statblock when I did the attacks. He just has a bleedy bite. So, rolling bleed...

Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 4

That's a net +14 hp back to Sahar, putting her at 7. And not down. Though that does also mean she's still under the bear's smite... and will be losing more hit points later from the bleed.

He holds up a hand and says, "Yes, there are acts that are more evil, certainly - murder, rape, slavery - but we know that, and those are distinct actions, and those who commit them are marked by the stain on their souls... But turning a blind, uncaring eye, on the other hand is, worse, as those that commit that sin can convince themselves -- and others -- they bear no responsibility, that they offered no cruelty, that they are still righteous and noble folk -- even though their sin allows -- nay, empowers -- a host of the greater evils at every turn. Worse, those who commit the sin do so dozens, even hundreds of times each day.... and, since it's so easy, it is a very common sin - and so its effects also get multiplied by the unfortunately large number of sinners. Certainly, each act, on its own, is small, maybe even tiny - like a single insect or mote -- but all of that multiplication leaves us with something far more terrible, like a plague, or infestation, that destroys all it touches, rotting it away."

I'm trying not to chuckle at the thought of a Tiefling with fiendish resistances suffering from a burning mouth..

Sidius braces himself against the spice, recognizing a number of scents as those he uses in his herbal poultices, Well, now, at least we know my sinuses will be clear, he says before taking a bite. While the spice surprises him, it doesn't strike him as being quite as bad as he expected, Maybe they roasted them long enough to mellow them out a bit...

He stops thinking about the spice as he notes the queen's movement, then whispers, I think the Queen is a witch, like I am.., before turning to the conversation.

Sidius nods, "Indeed, sacrifices do sometimes need to be made.. but, as always, the question about sacrificing things - life, freedom, wealth, choice -- is the relationship between the costs and the benefits of the act. Especially when, as is often the case with an unjust ruler, those who are called upon to pay those costs are rarely the ones who enjoy the benefits... And, more, when there are such benefits to be had, an unjust ruler can maintain their hold on power by doling them out to their puppets and cronies -- thus ensuring there is a powerful group that knows that its continued affluence, and influence, are dependant on the continuation of the unjust ruler..."

He pauses a moment, then adds, "...and, of course, if any who hold to the old ways, including those with older rank or power, object to the new way of doing things, well, they might just called on to 'sacrifice' too."

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Um, can you crit an enervation? (Sadly, I don't think so, bestowing negative levels might hurt, but it's not actively doing damage)
Negative Levels (non crit): 1d4 ⇒ 2

Negative Levels from the PRD for a quick reference:

For each negative level a creature has, it takes a cumulative –1 penalty on all ability checks, attack rolls, combat maneuver checks, Combat Maneuver Defense, saving throws, and skill checks. In addition, the creature reduces its current and total hit points by 5 for each negative level it possesses. The creature is also treated as one level lower for the purpose of level-dependent variables (such as spellcasting) for each negative level possessed.

Given that it affects CMD, I should have opened with that and *then* gone for tentacles..

Technically a corner gives cover (it is case 2 here in the figure), and cover prevents attacks of opportunity, so you should be good to go Derym, as long as you only get into the first square of the room.

That is, unless the GM overrules there is no cover for any reason I am missing here!

Hi folks,

I'm about to be away for 2 weeks - but with the usual "post-trip" recovery time, I think it's safer to say I'm away 'til Jan 16th (so we can all be pleasantly surprised if I'm online sooner).

Please feel free to bot Callix while I'm gone. Basically, fervor a DF and wade into combat with the axe. (If things look bad, then also Sacred Weapon - Flaming and Shock)

Sidius chuckles, "It's an herbal concoction that's meant to be pretty broad-based -- and done a little more by feel than precise measurements, as I have to shift the recipe based on what's available. Today's was a mix of garlic, aloe, ginger, peppermint, elderberry, and valerian root."

He turns to Octavio's statement, "I don't think it's bad that we've found a way for our new friends to get in and out without being observed... Or, for that matter, anyone who might need to escape His Thrunieness' grasp.... or, giving us a way to get something in without risking the dottari would see it."
