This is written from the perspective of the player in the upper tier
Walked into this not really knowing what to expect. I've done the Season 8 special so thought I might get to move forward on that plot. Most other 3 part scenarios were really good and told a great story. My hope here is that this one still does.
We gathers a lot of info but nothing concrete on the objective. there was 1 difficult combat because most of the party wasn't really prepared properly but that's expected. For me, I'm playing a cavalier in the order of the dragon, lots of diplomacy and member of liberty's edge. i'm looking for the RP and chances to shorten the game with some good diplomacy. because of a choice in path, we get stuck with a guy that wanted everything killed. it didn't sit right with me.
after the first combat (and I won't go into the OP of a CR 3 creature), we were able to use diplomacy to skip encounter 2 for us. the the final encounter was terrible. We didn't think choosing a side was an option. we knew nothing about one of the sides and the only thing we got from the other was a feeling of simple kill things. It felt like picking the lesser of two evils. We avoided the final encounter as well with diplomacy but still had to choose a side which makes absolutely no sense.
I give it 3 only because the GM allowed us to end the final encounter without conflict. Maybe it has nothing to do with the season 8 story and maybe the choice doesn't do much in anything else.
There's no reporting of it either so why have a choice? Why force players to make a choice of one side or the other if you aren't reporting it in any way and it doesn't effect the future scenarios. that seems rather weak to force a choice by the players with very little information to base the choice on. For our group it came down to which path we took.
As a player, I feel this falls into the same pitfalls that a lot of scenarios have in that things the players can do aren't really described. I like the choose two of three things to do and those were fun, but the third encounter is terrible. let the players try to set up the place up before they show up with very little to go on other than don't kill some people. I like the scenario up to that point and at that point I really lost interest as I couldn't really figure out what to do to move things along, so our GM just moved things along for us to they show up. Terrible ending to what could be a good scenario.

In her own words:
My name is Omara Dalaston. My father was Garundi. I've never met him, nor do I care to. I won't mention him again. My mother is Taldan, about as Taldan as they come. She and I lived with her father for a few years in the countryside outside Oppara. He became a full-on Desnan when I was six. He sold everything and took Mom and I on a road trip. For the next ten years we traveled halfway across the world. We stopped at every inhabited area and visited all the Desnan temples and shrines along the way. He taught me all kinds of interesting things about the places we visited. But the most fun thing he taught me was how to defend myself. See, he was a retired arms instructor in the Taldan military. I really enjoyed traveling with Papa and learning what he had to teach me. Mom hated it.
When we arrived in Sandpoint, Papa finally decided he was done traveling. Mom got a job at the Theater and later moved on to Magnimar. I stayed here with Papa. That was five years ago, not long after the Late Unpleasantness. He helps train the militia and I help out at the theater. I mostly just show the actors how to look like they are fencing without killing each other. After a while I started getting small parts, mostly bad guys who fight the hero and get killed off. I make them look good. They are all male parts, though. I never get any girl parts. Must be my voice.
On the day of the Swallowtail festival, Papa and I were in Magnimar to see Mom's new play. I was again out of town when the giants attacked a year later. Papa stayed because he did not think he could travel. But he thought he could fight giants. The Sheriff says he fought bravely, but he was no match for a group of giants. Mom wanted me to go with her to Magnimar, but something kept me here. There is something special about this place, but I don't know what it is. But I don't feel I could find it in Magnimar. Since then, I've spent who knows how many nights listening to Ameiko's stories and songs over and over. I'm starting to think I want to travel the world again, and do great things. Then she can tell stories and sing songs about me!
Description:
Omara stands just over 5 1/2 feet tall and has a slim build with broad shoulders. Her skin is medium brown and her eyes are hazel. Her short hair, once dark brown, is now ashen and getting lighter every day. She has a husky voice. She has occasionally been mistaken for a teenage boy. The fact that she often dresses like one doesn't help.
