Sadly, no dice on this again. They're out of town GenCon weekend.
I would wager they are out of town every GenCon weekend.

They've been in town a couple of times. They were in town a couple of years ago - I almost went to the game but was then convinced to stay and play in the kobolds special. I didn't realize that my wanting to go to the game was creating a bit of a stir behind the scenes because I didn't know I was going to be awarded a campaign coin that night. I heard after the fact that there was some relief when I decided to play.

Yes, as I recall. The official roomblock was Thursday night through Sunday night, so if you are staying Wednesday night or earlier or Monday night or later, you will need to book a room somewhere.

Every year that I have volunteered for Paizo at GenCon has included the Wednesday night as part of the GM Tier package of rooms. I would count on that still being the same.

LOL! Don't worry about it! I brought a package of 1000 paperclips with me this year that I left with HQ and they didn't need to dip into them. I'll still probably bring more next year. I will never again run out of paperclips putting together the chronicle packages for GenCon.

And a big thank you to everyone who helped put Slot 1 chronicles together after I was delayed 7.5 hours by a blown tire while driving in on Wednesday!

I think Wizkids will show lots of actual minis next week at GenCon - they have too, because they haven't shown any actual production minis from the D&D set and only 10 renders - and the set releases on september 1st.
They will also have some PFB minis, i'm sure.

I don't think WizKids will be at GenCon. If we see minis they might have to be from other sources.

One of my local GMs has done this for his daughter at conventions. I believe that she even used her setup at GenCon. I'll try to point him in the direction of this thread.

What?!? I don't see this as a good thing at all! We just lost a good Venture Captain in Ontario, and she's left me with just Glen as a VC. This isn't good at all!

Well, I guess what is best for the larger community is better than what is best for me.

Congratulations, Tonya!

We heard that from a few GMs that didn't print the updated scenario after having the PaizoCon one.

We had plenty of updated ones printed in the HQ area if he had asked.

Sorry that you didn't get to play that part.

Seeing threads like this make me wish that PFS would just remove factions.

I picked Taldor as my faction, and have kept all 5 of my characters in that faction. I much prefer the way factions work in Season 5, and I don't really care if a scenario that I get to play in has a link to Taldor or not.

Yes, I'm fine with the number of common / uncommon minis we are getting. My frustration is that for this set, those minis are all animals, and most have little or nothing to do with the AP.

Agreed, which is why I said they need to choose the figures right.

Quote:
This sentiment gets compounded when the set was originally announced as 55 sculpts. I would be ok with this many animal sculpts if we had received 10 additional cool monsters from the AP. I just can't help feeling frustrated by how cool this set COULD have been.

Agreed here as well. I think that the animals might have been planned before the sculpts were reduced, and had things been known before the set was planned we might have had fewer animals.

Quote:
I hope Paizo takes this feedback to heart.

I think they will.

Sovereign Court

I'm fine with the set size dropping to 45 figures, but don't think that I would like to see it drop any further without changing the booster/brick/case size, price and format.

If I recall correctly, Erik said that the reduction in sculpts was partly for WizKids to control costs. I'd rather see that, and keep booster prices the same, than have everything jump in price. It was already hard to justify buying a case of each set when I've got plenty of minis, and was able to play just fine without them in the first place. If their having to pay for less sculpts keeps them from raising prices, I am fine with that.

We're still getting the same amount of minis in a case, and with Paizo's subscription prices we're getting them cheaper. And if Paizo chooses the figures right, I like the amount of commons and uncommons we're getting with this set.

Darn North American bias! Here I was expecting to be able to hold out for the best offer as an undrafted free agent.

And as your northern neighbour (note proper English spelling) is a member of the Commonwealth we should also be able to pin our hopes to England.

But no, you insist on us remaining your hat.

Nice way to fit the World Cup into PFS, and I guess I'll have to cheer for the U.S. Sigh.

Do you have any suggestions about telling 11 year olds that spent their allowance on pathfinder stuff that what they bought may not work right and the only way to know is read every single other book (that she doesn't own) cover to cover to make sure there isn't a contradictory entry? That would be some super helpful advice for you to give.

I point out that over 99% of the book is accurate, and there are some little things that might have slipped through that we have to change, but it doesn't make the book bad. Tell the kid that mistakes happen, and we just have to change them when we find them. Point out other good options, and that the book she bought is still one of the best books out there in the game. Make her feel good about the purchase instead of feeling bad about it because of one thing that was missed when reprinting it due to the rush in reprinting.

Now, looking at that argument (and yes, I read the thread about the 11 year old), and seeing how a lot of people have played rules wrong over the years even when they were written properly, and then those people have to change when they are told the correct rules, well I'm willing to give the writers, developers and editors a break when they miss something. Players miss enough.

Just a small aside:

If you are a PFS player, I don't believe that a PDF that you made yourself will be accepted to prove that you own an additional resource in the game. I believe that you would still need the watermarked PDF.

Jon, in the slot listings in the call for volunteers it still shows the morning and afternoon slot back-to-back.

And about the shirts... Years ago, when volunteering for a different gaming company, some other volunteers wore their shirts out while going drinking and were not very good representatives of the company whose shirts they were wearing. I'm sure that Paizo would appreciate that if you were wearing your volunteer shirts with their name on them that you would not cause any negativity to their brand.

The one game I would really like to play again that I never really got to play enough of was RoleMaster. The guy who ran it used an amalgemation (sp) of different rules to make one set that worked for him. I tried to run it myself and it just didn't work. I am guessing it was because I didn't have the old rules like he had. It's a great system, none the less.

Yeah rolemaster is my favourite complicated system. I liked the fact the crunch was all "front loaded", so although it took ages to create a character and advance a level, that could all be done away from the table.

At the table, the DM typically had just one page open to resolve all manoeuvres (switching to the relevant attack table during combat). Each player had their weapon table and it ran very fast.

Ah, I loved the old Rolemaster campaign that I played in, and a big part of that was probably the GM and his story that merged so many modules together without us really realizing it. (I found out after he moved away and bought a bunch of RM stuff and started finding bits and pieces everywhere.)

I loved the first session of character gen, and the chore of levelling.

I was probably the first player in the group to discover all the skill synergies in Companion II. Enjoying the skills from RM is probably what really turned me on to 3.x and Pathfinder.

Now I want to relive the days of rolling open-ended (even though sometimes low), and rolling a 66 on the crit...
