Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
To Shalelu
"I know, I.. was I too far gone to be raised?" Zoso asks with grief in his eyes. Her answerThe fact that the Shin'Rakorath decided not to bring him back stings. He doesn't blame them, but he doesn't forgive them either.
"Indeed, Saphren. I do feel oddly more robust.. it kind of creeps me out if I think about it thought.. Could you imagine being in something else's skin?"
Arriving at the Camp
"Thank you, Kaerishiel. I'm resolved to not let this be the end." Then turning to Eviana, "I do have some needs, I can no longer use this bow. Or sword." He says looking at the longbow and elven curved blade. "These hands are too stubby for the mandolin as well. If I may have some of my old possessions exchanged or altered, that would be great aid."
Downtime
Zoso consumes himself in studies of Ploymorph magic, intent on finding a way to retake his Elven form. While he doesn't find something perfect, Zoso stumbles upon Ancestral Regression. The possibility is inticing and oddly close. He gathers a few scrolls to test out on Drow during their next mission.
Endless Night
As the pitch is revealed Zoso's jaw hits the floor. "You gotta be f*@+ing kidding me! You skimp out on raising me and NOW you're dressing me in Drow skin?! I'll show you a poor mangled once-Elf you proud bastard..." Zoso paces a little, looking at the others to see how sold they were to this. He didn't expect his bitterness for the Shin'Rakorath to be this sharp. After some moment of thought, he starts again in a calmer voice. "Three months? Three months.. " He then gets a chuckle and a slight smile, "Do you think you could make it permanent?"

I know! Dwarf isn't bad, not great for an archer bard or flashy unique, but not a goblin or kobold either so can't complain. I'm going to muse for a moment on how to spin this.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
I figured I'd give you the honors of rolling, but if you want me to chance my own fate I can roll a d100 in the gameplay.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Very nice, I've never played with a Shaman before, it'll be cool to see how they work. Don't forget you picked up that +1 Keen bow at the end.
What are your guys' experiences with the utility of a Rod of Reach? I'm thinking it might help casting blur, invis, vanish, and versatile weapon onto people in a pinch while keeping Zoso at a safe range.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
With a not amazing CHA score, party buffs are going to get better use than saveable debuffs. Options I'm thinking of are:
0:
Detect Magic, Read Magic, Mage Hand, Light, Message, Prestidigitation
1:
Saving Finale, Invigorate, Timely Inspiration, Vanish, Ventriloquism, Silent Image
2:
Heroism, Blur, Galant Inspiration, Invisibility, Versatile Weapon, Allegro, Cat's Grace, Glitterdust
3:
Reviving Finale, Purging Finale, Haste, Good Hope, Find Fault, Jesters Jaunt, See Invisibility, Dispell Magic

Thanks for the recommendations as well, the massive spells lists are daunting when it's your first go at a class! I have some down time and should be able to post a new spells knowm list in here for thoughts.
Also, as spontaneous casters do Bards benefit from the pages of spell knowledge as well?

Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
For the story and relationships I fully intend on keeping Zoso as Zoso. What I have in mind is he'll come back from this death experience with a changed perspective. He won't fully remember what he experienced but the ramifications will be there as passive subconscious scars. He'll have vowed to never sing again, discarding his mandolin and becoming an orator with a dark wit.
Changes I'm looking to make to Zoso are ~
Gear: No real need for the elven blade or mandolin and changing the +1 Thundering bow to a +2 or maybe spending cash to make it a +1 Holy.
Spells: really need to develop a good direction on this. I'm mostly interested in buffing with Zoso. Besh, we should work together so we support each other well. If I go more aid/buff then you could have more room for damage dealing and explosions if you're so inclined.
Skills: I'd exchange Singing for Oratory, Strings for Comedy, and reallocate the ranks from Percussion.
GM question - The negative levels of Reincarnate are brutal but I like the gamble of a roll and the flavor, since we're in a mid-adventure rebuild period I'm curious what your thoughts are on using the Reincarnation spell without the negative levels as a RP device for the build tweaks? We can alter the race table if there are races people aren't comfortable with, I'm not itching to be a Kobold or anything. I just think it's a cool way to continue the character and explain the differences in game while keeping the story roughly coherent.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Totally get it Saphren, all in with ya man! Not sure how I feel about reviving Zoso though, I mean fireball AND potentially falling from the tower? What would be left?
For the story I would seriously entertain having the new character being a sort of bizarro Zoso. Say if his corpse was on the line of being "too far gone" to resurrect and so the spell brought back something more derivative of Zoso than actually him. I'll see how it plays out in RP and the GM's mind first before I make any personal decisions though.
EDIT: kind of ditto with Lyr's sentiment
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Crazy thought, what if our SD story ends here and is complete in the eyes of our characters. Then we continue with these chatacters into the second half of another AP?
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Since I'm rerolling regardless these are pretty equivalent paths to me.
To be decisive, starting fresh has a little more appeal. Especially if it makes GM life easier, it's a big job so whatever helps make it more enjoyable is important. If we stick with SD that's still cool though, I would not be disapointed by a decision either way.
If we go the new AP route, I'm currently in Crimson Throne and Emerald Spire games and running Kingmaker and Dead Suns games. All my RotR attempts failed midway into the first book. Of what you haven't done, Iron Gods, Legacy of Fire, Strange Aeons, and Serpents Skull all look interesting.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
I have learned a lot about Pathfinder in the past year and a half, I can definately produce a more interesting character now. Also, RETREAT!!!
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
I can cast Haste if need be as well.
"Brenna, this is your time, I can feel it. I've heard a lot of these stories before and it just, well, seems right. There's something electric in the air." Zoso wipes some sinew off her armor as he gives her a warriors forearm grasp.
Casting Heroism on Brenna right before we go in.
"Anyone need more anti-toxin?"
The bard then readies an arrow if his own, clearing this throat a little for what he anticipates to be quite the confrontation.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
I'm here. Work just sucks and my apologies. Zoso has a ring and cloak already so someone else please go ahead and armor up.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"But now it's time for me to go
The autumn moon lights my way
For now I smell the rain
And with it pain
And it's headed my way."
Zoso fires away at the two drow soldiers, first targeting the unflanked silver drow.

"Leaves are falling all around
It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay."
Inspire activated.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Count me interested in the belt and bow, the bow I have is already formidable so Lyr should take the Keen Machine if he's interested.
Quietly Zoso whispers to the others, "Both paths? Brenna one, Saph the other? A bow supporting each?"
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"As you deal with the prisoners, you also explore the rest of the bottom floor." Think we were pushed through the last two rooms.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Zoso is definately interested in a belt of +2 sex, I doubt there has ever been a more triumphant item created for a bard! But alas, the dex bump would help Zoso and is good use of his belt slot. Highlight of this loot is the special keen bow by far!
Zoso rushes in, slinging his bow over his shoulder, and kneels before Kaerishiel and Shalelu. "You were brave and the day may have been won, let us hurry back to the Crying Leaf before we speak of what is owed." Zoso heals them enpugh so they can travel.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Zoso finishes up his writing before moving towards the door. Once the thing is sprung open, he shifts into sight of the trog and looses an arrow. "Bloody hell this smells worse than they dead dragon!"

Zoso immediately flips to a new page and starts a poem of Lyr's supernatural talent with the skinning knife.
"These double doors are far too intriguing, anyone else agree?"
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Zoso looks down at Razorhorn with a bittersweet smile, "You would have been a far greater trophy as an ally." Then turning to the others he stowes his bow and combs a hand through his hair, "I guess I need to take some lessons on negotiating, eh?"
Jumping down the bard pulls out a piece of paper and inkpen, then starts to jot down the tale and song, "No one's going to believe any of this without the right words,.. uh, any of you know how to clean a dragon?"
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the mornin' light.
The magic runes are writ in gold
To bring the balance back, bring it back.
At last the sun is shining, the clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes!"
Zoso steps back and continues in the face of the snarling dragon.

My bad, totally blew that save roll there, saw it but forgot when I posted. GM, your call if you want to use that first d20 as a save roll or as an arrow shot. Here is another dice though to fulfill the request either way. 1d20 ⇒ 20 well... both would succeed, one would be a crit as an attack. up to you.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.
Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the mornin' light."
Zoso enters a focus as the beast within the dragon emerges.

Zoso skids to a stop for dramatic effect and continues his ballad.
"The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The dragon rides in black, ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow,
Shoot straighter than before."

Just a flurry of junk! Currently AC 22 with Cat's Grace and Haste.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Zoso jumps to a start as Razorhorn advances.
"The apples turn to brown and black, the tyrant's face is red.
Oh the war is common cry, pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know."
He sings inspiration to his allies as he moves to distance himself from the others.

Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"It's quite simple really, help us stop the drow from bringing Armageddon onto Golarion. Your reward for such is their home. You can have all the land that is theirs in the Darklands."
Zoso the starts to pace, slightly flexing his bow as he talks. "Of course, what I want is to negotiate peace between you and the Crying Leaf. But, I'll take this as a good first step. A show of faith, if you will. Help us destroy the drow and their plot and you can have their lands. Free to come up and fight elves as you wish. Though at the end of this, once the Drow are the ones left as goo, then I'll try to convince you of the peaceful way again. Perhaps our deeds henceforth will convince you, but if not a blood fued is still better than what these blighted souls have in mind."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"I'm curious, Razorhorn. You're a fearsome dragon and you talk about bringing utter death and ruin to this village of elves, yet you're hiding in here. Why? I have a feeling there is something out in the true plane of Golarion that caused you to come here. What happened?" Zoso keeps his bow in his hand now as he resumes his conversation with the dragon.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Go go antitoxin!
Zoso spins at the sudden intruder and as Besh casts his spell. He draws his bow and hopes to quell this threat quickly.

Since I had to draw my weapon I do not get the extra attack roll with Haste, correct?

"As feuds always are." he says to Saphren.
"Blood is on everyone's hands, yours and the Crying Leaf's. Verchazmia's and Shalelu's mother's and half her kin's blood soak the forest floor. No one has been innocent for a long time, but we still can forge a truce. Name how, reasonably how, and we will prove our competence to you in exchange for your commitment to peace and defeating the Drow."

If Mage armor is being offered I'll take a tap Besh, thanks.

Cat's Grace is in both Zoso and Lyr.
Zoso steps forward into the room unarmed with his arms raised above him and his two empty hands stretched wide, "Razorhorn! We are not here for violence! Our plight is with the drow and their attempt to destroy the world. To that end I think we can agree, for Golarion of the Material Plane is the only one that truely matters. Let me surprise you in that we're indeed unlikely alies. I believe you will find that though there are two paths you can go by, in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on."
Zoso then lowers his arms as he continues, "To begin, as an act of mutual good faith, allow the five of us to act as mediators between you and the Crying Leaf. Let us help negotiate a treaty, too many have suffered and no one remains in the right any longer. I implore you, heed to reasoning so we can move forward against a legitimate enemy together."

"I don't believe we're rushed Lyr, take whatever time you need. Putting this dragon on ice and making it wait isn't a bad negotiation method either."

Ancient Text wrote: "The last note included in the book mentions that if more time were available, it might even be possible to stop the apocalypse, but only if the site of the original weaving of the magic were known." "Besh, here. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? We can stop it this time, even if not before they set off the chain of events again. There's hope, if we can find out how.."
Zoso will spend a moment trying to find out how they would stop the apocalypse and then prepare for their date with the dragon.
"Well, here it is huh? Anyone able to make me more charming or something? Otherwise," he dusts himself off a bit, "the thought is I go in first and you all slowly enter individually. Spreading out as to avoid all being caught in a breath attack, right?"
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
"You're not kidding!" Zoso is right behind Besh, looking over his and Saphren's shoulders at the intriguing tome.
Deceased Male Elf Bard 7 : Place of Death, The Armageddon Echo
Zoso moves straight to the chart and papers, reading the leaflets and looking back to the chart as he grabs the next. "I have a bad feeling about this. They pulled some sort of comet into Riddleport, but what if they pulled another star?"
