The town of Sandpoint is a remote town on the Lost Coast, it stands as bastion to the civilization in this otherwise rugged area. You have come from far and wide, or maybe this has always been your home, regardless today is a big day. The unveiling of the long awaited cathedral, the old church burnt down in a devastating fire that nearly destroyed the northern end of town.

Sandpoint is wealthy for its exports of wood and other goods that are plentiful in this region. The nobles funded a new lavish place of worship, and thus the new Sandpoint Cathedral was built!

The town is bustling with activity. Both inns are full, people line the streets. Early in the morning the opening speeches begin in the square in front of the new cathedral.
You do not have to be present for this part, let me know where you all are.

The mayor steps up to the front of a crowd that has gathered and she motions for silence. A murmur descends on through the square.
"Welcome to all, to the Swallowtail Festival in honor of our new cathedral! I see many new faces in the crowd and I am very happy to welcome you to Sandpoint! All the locals have come out of their homes, also, even Larz Rovanky. I haven't seen you out of your shop since your daughters wedding! Anyway, eat, drink, and be merry for this is a great time for Sandpoint!"
As she finishes her speech the crowd cheers and soon a mailed man fills her place, "There are many folk not from these parts, and I only ask you respect our home. Be careful in the festivities all, especially around tonight's bonfire. Our good friend Lonjiku was to speak as well, but a sudden illness has sent him to rest. Might I ask for a moment of silence for those who perished in the fire five year's past."
He lowers his head for a few moments, then steps off the podium, his spot quickly filled by a cheerful man.
"When I first came here, all of you were all work work. Well I saw to that, didn't I? The theatre has seen more performances in my residence than it has for all of Sandpoint's history. I plan on turning the story of our fated play into a production to travel all over Varisia and praise the name Sandpoint! I encourage you all to stop by many of the traveling troupes that have came from far and wide to entertain you all on this festival occation! And don't forget my production of 'The Harpy's Curse' only has ten more performances before we move onto some other show. Starring none other than the famous diva Allishanda straight from Magnimar so come see it while it lasts!"
Finally, a robed man steps up and speaks softly, you must strain to hear him. "Thank you all for coming and thank Erastil for our safety and longevity."
The crowd disperses for the day's festivities, in the southern end of town many games are taking place.

You have been summoned by Sheriff Hemlock before the opening speeches along with the 5 other town guards. You stand with them in barracks.
"We are already stretched thin, without hundreds of outsiders coming to cause trouble in our little town. I know you don't like it, but I need all of you patrolling all day. We have more than we can handle .
He turns to you, "I want you and Jensen here to patrol from the Old Light to the North Gate, and as far south as Town Street. I don't expect much trouble, but the mob tends to stay under control in sight of the town watch."

He dismisses you with a wave and turns to the other 4, and begins giving them similar orders.

All right, so I have made my decision! I've sent five of you a PM, and I hope you are still interested. I'll give you a few days to post in here to show me that you are still interested, if you don't post then I will find someone else. I hope that doesn't happen though.
I am expecting I will post once or twice a day, maybe more depending on my schedule and the activity in the gameplay thread. I expect you all to post at least once a day, and once on the weekends.
Also, for those of you who haven't already done so, can you include in your profile a reason for you to be in Sandpoint at the Swallowtail festival. Before the first encounter, I will have some roleplaying around town that plays along with your characters, to get you all familiar and feel as if you are part of the town.

I'm excited for this!

Okay, I know there are a ton of RotR recruitment threads up right now. But I want to run a PbP campaign and am very interested in running RotR. So, if you aren't in another one of those, apply for mine!

I only ask that you are not familiar with the campaign (or if you are, you are dedicated to not metagaming).

Specifics:
20 point buy
All CR and APG classes (except summoner and anti-paladin)
CR and ARG races
No custom classes/races - unless you link me the specifics for my approval
average starting gold
2 traits
No evil characters

Apply away!

Hey I am new to the pathfinder world and am looking for some experienced players that I can 'wet my feet' with. I am in the Southern California area (around Orange County and Santa Barbara)looking for a local game, or an online game. I am also looking into some PFS events near me, the first one I am going to check out is the GATEWAY 2012 at the end of the month. So if anyone around here or online is looking for players and don't mind lack of experience let me know!!

So I am new to the game, and am running a game of Rise of the Runelords for some of my friends. We have played 4th edition dnd for a while, but recently switched to pathfinder. Either way, we were never very experienced and I have always been the DM. So I am looking for a pathfinder society game where I can be a player, gain some experience with the rules, and most of all have fun! I live in Southern California, (Orange County) but go to school in Santa Barbara, so am I will be going back to SB in late September. So if anyone knows of a game around these parts let me know, or direct me to somewhere where I can find a game near me.

Thanks!!!

EDIT: So I have found the events page, but I am wondering how these events work. Do tons of people show up and split into groups led by different GMs and on different adventures? Do I have to RSVP or anything along those lines? Can someone just briefly explain the process to me? :)

okay, so i'm new to the genre of roleplaying games, I've played 4th edition dnd a little but wasn't too thrilled so i moved to pathfinder. anyway, i am the dm in my new campaign and we are starting with the beginners box then moving on to rise of the runelords. i have a few questions about gameplay. how do i handle wear and tear on the PC's gear? and how can i encourage my players to get more into the roleplaying aspect of the game? in the beginners box roleplaying is limited but onve they start with the runelord campaign i want them to be fully into the story and feel like they are telling it. we've only had one session so far, so i figure as we keep going more questions will arise. thanks in advance for any advice/tips!
