Probably. I have no idea how to take it down.

Oh by the way, should probably ask: Would we still want to do it here over forums or over Discord?

In Character Questions

Who are you, and what do you have to offer the party?
"Howdy! Y'all can call me 'Gold Gus' or just Gus, whichever is easier. Used to be a contracted security guard for those Abadar-Corp types, but I still have a keen eye. If you need someone or something protected by a lot of gunfire, you can count on me!" He professes proudly, propping his shotgun on his shoulder and tipping his hat.
Dwarf Guard Redirection Nanocyte, loaded with guns and a decent set of engineering, perception & piloting skills

Any interesting back story?
He ponders, before slipping out a coin from his belt. "I guess the only strange thing to know is I won these from an old Ysoki scrapper friend. He likes to hoard certain treasures like this one, hoping to polish & sell 'em to make a quick cred. Turns out that they're counterfeit coins made up of thousands & thousands of tiny nanites! But I figured out how to control them~"
I did have a question about this regarding the nanocytes minor form gear arrays, if I had to make the coins a minor form or if I could just flavor the coins as their resting state.

Out of Character Questions and Technical Stuff

Do you need any help building or formatting your character?
I might need some help formatting the sheet onto his profile, but I think I adhered to the SFS limitations. Feel free to correct me there.

Have you done any kind of PBP before?
Actually yes! I joined a non-SFS campaign about a month ago, though it's kind of sputtered out. The DM appears to have ghosted us, and we're trying to find a replacement DM to try to reboot/keep the adventure going.

Have you ever played Starfinder before? If so, what was your favorite adventure?
Nope! The previously mentioned game didn't get too far, so this would be my first real taste of the stars!

Do you have an up-to-date 'bot me' spoiler -- complete with dice expressions? (Subtle, aren't I?)
Can't say that I do yet, but with that example you gave I could probably whip one up over a couple hours.

Will you be willing to bot other characters if I ask you to do so?
Sure, as long as I don't have to do too terribly much roleplaying in their stead. I don't want to do a character an injustice.

Do you promise to let me know if you get super busy for a few days so we can bot you?
Starfinder's Honor! I'll try to notify you if things get too busy or I'm too far from an internet connection for a while.

Are you comfortable with a 2 post a day pace?
Seeing as I have not much of a life outside too many IRL games, absolutely.

What is your Discord ID so that we can set up a back channel for Discord notifications?

i posted in the LFG subreddit on our behalf

Neato. Let's see if this gets us anywhere.

Would it be helpful if we gave contact info?

The only thing I can think to do is to make a post on one of the LFG subreddits about a DMless group that's fully assembled otherwise. If everyone still wants to play together that is.

I wish. Been looking around for more places to find starfinder games, and every one seems busy. Dunno if the game is just not as popular or if it's a busy time of year, but finding a game for even one person to join has yielded little. No idea how hard it would be for a group to find a DM.

Still no word huh? Unfortunate because I actually kinda liked the party dynamic so far.

Same. And unless it's possible for all 4 of us to just go out and find a replacement DM, I think we're screwed.

this makes me insanely sad. irl im kindof a forever gm and dont get to play much. play by post is one of the few ways i can get some play time in.

I feel your pain, my guy. It sucks too, cuz I'm new to both the Starfinder scene and the Play-by-post scene. I have absolutely no idea where to look for more campaigns like this one.

Well if he doesn't come back in a week or so, I'll just say we've been ghosted. Might as well find some other game to shove Asla into at that point.

No one's heard anything yet from the DM I assume? Starting to worry about the future of this game.

Gave the DM a PM. (say that 5 times fast!) Hopefully he's just busy and can respond when he's less so. Other than that, I don't know what we gonna do if the DM can't come back to this game.

Who knows? He sounds like a busy guy though, so maybe IRL life is just keeping him.

I'm patient. Play-by-post games can have some droughts if people get too busy, but that's nobodies' fault. Was gonna PM him here & on Roll20 if a week goes by since his last message.

i dont know how familiar you are with hero forge, but its a great tool for making character pictures. theyve got some great options if you want a 3d printed mini, even in color. and they just released color 2d standups printed in 3mm acryllic

I love Hero Forge! I use it to craft the visual reference for a lot of my characters because I'm not a good artist. I don't have the money or need to have minis like them though, but that could change in the future. I even have Asla made, with a link to her on her first in-character post.

Just waiting for the DM to see if we got the doors unlocked.

God, now y'all are making me miss my old artificer. Tiny lil tinker gnome made an artillery cannon he called "Mortar-mer" that shot arcane charged shells that could level an entire forest. It was only ever brought out during long military battles in between adventures, but it was useful. The fun part was the shells were basically glorified grapeshot wads MacGyver'ed together from various bits of scrap and silverware, turning the cannon into a giant blunderbuss.

The final piece? He charged them with arcane power that he pulled from other minor magical items and the abilities of his party, giving it some elemental splash damage and enchanted the shells with illusion magic, making each shell look like a giant laughing gnome head tattooed with "Eat this!" all over its face.

Aahh, you were fun, Cuckoo. If I ever play you again, I'll be sure to roleplay you better and crazier.

Whether I go technomancer or mystic, my character was probably going to have a job or some experience as a detective/private investigator. I could see them being hired to look into some company malpractice, shady back-alley deals, or maybe even some paranormal cultist activity.

I feel like an argument could be made that technomancers would also prepare spells, since they log them all in their spell cache, but I'd be fine doing spells the normal way via core rules.

Also that hephaistos site is incredibly useful for noobs like me. Thank you so much!

Edit: Hello from the Gateway Arch! o/ (American Midwest, CDT/CST -5/6)

Excellent! Since I own & read most of the main sourcebook PDFs, I think I have a good grasp on character creation. Now to narrow down what to build...

Oh, points of order:
-Should we be concerned at all about a backstory or no?
-Basic 1,000 starting creds for gear buying or more?

Watermelon Slushie, checking in! Will create/update an alias with my final character decision later.

As for the pregame points:

1. Feel free to correct me on this, but I thought most classes get a lot of their defining traits by level 2 so I'm perfectly okay with starting there.

2. I'm always a huge fan of scaling cantrips. Helps keep casters in the thick of it without needing to rely on weapons necessarily. Does all Paizo sourcebooks include the various player choices (like races) certain APs provide?

3. The idea of a group coalescing together from different committees or businesses due to converging interest intrigues me greatly.

4. I'm okay with those house rules! Makes Biohackers feel like chemists and gives heavy weapons more dakka. :D
