Hello Everyone!
I'm Hmm! I'm a fast-paced, story-oriented GM, and I'm pleased to serve as your gamemaster for this adventure. We'll be picking a starter SFS scenario adventure (though I have not decided which one yet.) We are going to be having three PBP newcomers and three veterans in this game, and I am trying to find something the veterans have not played yet as our starter game.

Hello!
My name is Triage - 347, or rather that was my designation from Sovyrian during the Silent War. Even though the war is over, I found myself drawn to the name still and you may refer to me as Triage, if you so wish. I served as a field medic on various starships during the war and have thus spent ample time in the Veskarium. I am pleased to back in the comfort of the Pact Worlds, as I was stuck over there due to the Swarm's invasion. I have only recently been allowed to return and am currently stationed out of El.

-I'm very comfortable with character building and use Herolab. I would love for the GM to glance over it to be sure the character is all correct for society play, but I used the Society Limitations so it *should* all be correct.

-Yes, but mostly roleplay between sessions and only rarely have I done combat.
Have you ever played Starfinder before? If so, what was your favorite adventure?
-Yes! Currently on Book 5 of Dead Suns and Book 1 of Horizons of the Vast. I have also done a few Scenarios from Year 1. Songbird Station was an absolute blast to play through.

I'm FireclawDrake, I'm a Venture Agent for the Online region of Organized Play. Welcome to the campaign!
I'm going to be rolling up a new character to play with y'all so I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is bringing to the table.

A pink-haired gnome pops into discussion and waves to everyone. "Hey, my name is Charli and I'm one of Hmm's SFS characters. Perhaps it's best if I show you a 'Bot Me' spoiler so you can see what one is!"
Go ahead and click on Charli's avatar to see her character sheet. Charli has a very complete botting spoiler that you can look at, to see what sorts of things can go in there.
Basically, it's a bunch of dice expressions, pre-formatted for play-by-post that you can copy and paste into your posts. The main reason to put together a botting spoiler is so that if real life happens (and over the course of a 4-6 week game, real life happens to everyone at least once) the GM and the other players can post what your character does if you need to go offline for a day or two.
Top Secret PBP Tip
Setting up the botting spoiler not just helps out the group, but it can help you out too, because you can copy-paste your most combat actions as pre-formatted dice expressions, and then spend most of your posting time on fun roleplay and descriptions!

Mostly I just need to decide what kind of character the group needs, since I'll be building fresh. I have a couple ideas floating around in my brain, but I usually need a spark to get the character built.

I've been doing PbP for several years now and have been playing in person for several years before that.

My favorite Starfinder adventures are the ones that have felt like out of various Star Trek episodes. One that sounds out was one that took the group to a mysterious would with a strange anomaly that the party had to investigate and figure out a good solution to solve.

If you need someone or something protected by a lot of gunfire, you can count on me!" He professes proudly, propping his shotgun on his shoulder and tipping his hat.

He ponders, before slipping out a coin from his belt. "I guess the only strange thing to know is I won these from an old Ysoki scrapper friend. He likes to hoard certain treasures like this one, hoping to polish & sell 'em to make a quick cred. Turns out that they're counterfeit coins made up of thousands & thousands of tiny nanites! But I figured out how to control them~"

Actually yes! I joined a non-SFS campaign about a month ago, though it's kind of sputtered out. The DM appears to have ghosted us, and we're trying to find a replacement DM to try to reboot/keep the adventure going.

Nope! The previously mentioned game didn't get too far, so this would be my first real taste of the stars!

What sort of help do you need statting your character to the profile? If you use HeroLab (and I do not, but a lot of people do) it will generate most of the BB Code formatting for you. Otherwise, you can use This Template to format your character for PBP.
(It's actually a variation of what I used to create Charli's profile.)

I think I can help there.
While on Paizo you got to the "Organized Play" tab along the top and select "My Organized Play".
That will put you on a summary page that lists Triage-347 under "My Characters".
Click the "Edit" button on that row and that will take you to a page where you can edit your character's profile, but there will also be a option near the top, right between setting your character's faction and full name, there will be a spot for "Character Image". Click "Change".
You will be on a page where you can select your avatar. Find an image you like in the lists, hovering over it will give you information about it and a "Select this Avatar" button. Click that.
At that point your character icon for that alias will be set.
Let me know if any bit of that is confusing since I know it is a lot of steps there. There might be an easier way, but this is how I learned to do it.

I'll be playing the eccentric dwarf Grognard Erraticus, a Precog who understands enough of the inner workings of our universe to make his mind a bit... mushy.

Grognard has realized that sometimes when you ask 2 starfinders who went out on 1 mission you get 2 very different stories... he dug deeper and found many many more interesting deviations in history.

Wait... I have to pick 1? Just 1? I refuse to follow directions. I still have fond memories of both conclusions to season 1. The final scenario and the special that followed. Having been the first time I actually played the vast majority of a season, I really got to appreciate all of the cameos. Also, they were pretty epic. The GM for the special was awesome.

The imposing figure of a Vesk walks over "Greetings, I am Nuva'gek Driftwalker. Despite being a Vesk, I am an outcast of my own people because of my colour..." His final words trail off as he turns his face and you can see scales that are normally green in colour are closer to a deep blue.
"I am looking to join a crew who can teach me a thing or two about life outside The Veskarium. As I mentioned, I was cast out when I was a youngling and spent my years surviving in the wilderness of Vesk-7, hunting to survive, scavenging what I could and trading with those who would not attack me on sight." He turns his face the other way and you can see several large scars over the right side of his face.
He continues "What I lack in lifes experiences I make up for with determination. Does this interest you?"

You can subscribe to feeds for the threads for this game here (RSS icon in the top right of these pages), but I admit I haven't ever used them to any success for notifications.
Who are you, and what do you have to offer the party?
I am Naitier Tanal and you may call me either or both as our efforts are often aided by clarity of intent. I ponder the accuracy of such designations or communication in an every changing universe.
At the moment my powers lie within my magical capacity to both deal grievous wounds if my accuracy remains true as well as undo some of the worst wounds you may find yourselves with and, ultimately, mine as well.
However those are only the most minor moments of time that I will demonstrate those, so much that history may not even make note of them. Within combat I will use my less notable skills with pistol and blade to provide a more consistent aid even when my magical talents remain in reserve.
Outside the confines of any particular combat-aligned engagement I am a capable diplomat and negotiator, although I will admit I find it easier to make others quake as I describe their place in the grand universe than casual chatter about the current weather patterns.
Any interesting back story?
Compared to many others within the organization I would be forced to call myself young. Both the age of maturity and expiration are low in comparison to many of the other races that gather on Absalom Station and the Starfinder Society. It is likely considering that that I was drawn to the study of what ultimately came before myself.
My own world has a wealth of such information of our own recent history, but learning of it has been hampered by various factors that may have well delayed my studies for years. Those are a resource I have in short supply and not one I intend on wasting dealing with my world's permits and licenses. Hearing of the Starfinder Society goals, I found that they were very much aligned with mine, although some aspects of the various tediousness that are required are something I'm less elated to partake in. Even still that is a price I'm willing to pay. If I'm not able to learn about the history of my own world, then joining my efforts with a larger organization to learn more of the general universe is a fair substitute.
I think I will get us started on the scenario proper on Monday. We're going to be going with Starfinder Intro #2, For the Factions. I have never GMed it before, and two of our veterans have never GMed or played it, so it should be a fresh adventure for most of us. I chose that one because I think it does a pretty good job of introducing four of the main Starfinder factions and several of our major Society NPCs.
Delaying until Monday will give me a chance to build the slideshow we are using for our maps, and give people chances to build out their characters.
What roles can your character fulfill in Starship Combat?
If you can, it is always good to plan to cover 1-2 roles in Starship Combat. Generally speaking, you wind up being able to cover fewer roles if you have a class that is short on skills, but if you are able to cover more than one role, you can offer more flexibility to your party and do different things in a ship combat. It's more fun if you can move around a bit and offer help where needed.
The Starship Combat Roles are:
Pilot - The person who can fly the ship. Uses Piloting skill.
Gunner - The people who can shoot the ship's guns (using Dex plus ranks in Piloting or their base attack bonus.)
Engineer - The person who fixes the ship. Uses Engineering.
Science Officer - Uses Computers to makes scans, help target, redistribute shields
Captain - Buff your colleagues and taunt the enemy with Diplomacy, Bluff or Intimidate.
Magic Officer - Use Mysticism to scan and to help your pilot win initiative.
Chief Mate - Brute force your way to helping out your crewmates with Athletics and Acrobatics.
Have you put in a character header yet?
If you look at how both Gold Gus and Naitier have created their headers, they have included a lot of useful in their character headers so that I don't have to check their profiles all the time to find out useful information on their characters.

Have you bought equipment yet?
Bare minimum, you should have armor (probably second skin because 1st level credits suck), a ranged weapon, and something you can use in melee, even if it's only a survival knife. It's also a good idea to purchase a toolkit for some of the things your character does. (For example, hacking kit.)
Introductions are important, so I will give you all a chance to roleplay with each other a bit in Gameplay before we roll into the Lorespire Complex for our Faction Missions!
Remember, I will be starting everyone up on Monday!
It makes sense for everyone to post their best Starship Combat roles now. We'll be heading out on a Pegasus starship in our first mission!

Who are you, and what do you have to offer the party?
Yarsox is an ikeshti envoy. He's an upstanding citizen, and when he is not busy being a Starfinder, he's a bureaucrat at the Akitonian consulate on Absalom Station, helping to administer the diplomacy required to keep the Pact Worlds together. He is a bit of a polymath, dabbling in the sciences, computers, hacking, and of course keeping up-to-date on any important cultural events.
Out of combat, Yarsox can fill many of the major skill-monkey roles. In combat, Yarsox perfers to use his agility and cunning to distract enemies, setting up his allies for attacks.
Any interesting back story?
Nothing crazy here, Yarsox found himself embroiled in some Starfinder trouble on Akiton one day at the Hivemarket, and decided it was time that his services could be used elsewhere. Basing himself out of Absalom Station meant he could be a Starfinder and still serve his homeworld at the consulate.

Okay, so here is how I am going to handle what is effectively a dungeon - er, ship - crawl in PBP. I'm going to move you folks to every significant room of the ship, bot perception checks, and give one or two of you a chance to react to each room before moving all of you on to the next room.
So if you are around, react with a post. Then I will move the rest of you through to each of the rooms so that you can explore the entire ship.
The exception to this will be if you hit a combat, in which case I will roll initiative for everyone and get the combat started.

Thought I'd introduce myself, I had been away from the forums for a few weeks and had missed the invite to this game, so have been following along, to help learn how to do PBP and figure out how to fill out the character sheet, got my first character Jekcedo about 1/2 done. Saw the concert going on today, so posted in gameplay a one-shot post to add to the atmosphere of the concert, but not otherwise jump into the game. I'm having fun watching the adventure great RP from everyone.

PBP is fairly new as a PaizoCon option. But you can sign up on the PaizoCon 2022 Warhorn when open signups start.
By the way, did you know that Bugspace is a canonical band in Starfinder? I wrote them into my Klikharp article for Alien Archive 4. It's fun to give them a shoutout.

In Character Questions
Who are you, and what do you have to offer the party?
Hello, my name is Jekcedo, I'm a shirren mystic healer, just graduating from the Gekken battle medic school. Trained for front line healing as wall as, maintaining all the equipment in a field hospitable or starships med bay, (Profession maintenance worker.) Training in a filed hospitleon the hot side of Verces were constantly having to work on the AC unites as well. I like to use smoke and sticky bomb grenades in combat as they have effects that last long enough for me to take other actions like healing, I also cast reflective armor on myself so if hit while healing I’m able to damage the opponent at the same time. I can also using my blind sight to help spot hidden opponents and point them out using Psychokinetic Hand to point out targets with small led lights or glow sticks.
Any interesting back story?
I decided to become a battle medic after becoming fascinated with the word triage and the choices it might lead to. During spring break for the battle medic school, I met a starfinder cadet at a Bug Space concert at the Song Bird station. This got me thinking that becoming a starfinder might lead to more choices than be a medic for a mercenary group. Personal philosophy on combat. Placing a high value on having choices, I don’t try to physically overpower an opponent, I work to remove or hinder the choices they can make until they have none left that harm me or the people I’m protecting.

No, but I’ve watched it played online for way too many hours. From what I’ve watched can’t say which is a favorite, what stands out is how interesting the character races can be in Starfinder.

Yes, I don’t see me having anything else taking up my time other than work, the only issue I might have postings is if my internet connection goes out a lot in the summer heat (live near Phoenix.) If you don’t see my post or favor the last post I read in 24 hours assume I can’t log in and bot me.

Yes, I work from 1:30 pm to sometime around 8 to 10:30 pm so should be able to post both before and after work.
