rorek55 wrote: Honestly having someone capable of casting healing spells and debuff removal is very important especially early levels and later levels. Also can't count the times I've had player deaths due to "we don't need a healer" mentality.
This said, building entirely around healing is not particularly great, that said one of my favorite characters was a healer. Every dangerous combat I would delay turns until right after the big threat. This way I could always respond with support.
Big bad casts dominate on fighter? Cool I can deal with that before fighters turn.
Big bad crits and downs fighter? Cool, I can breath of life before his turn.
Etc etc.
Good input, thanks

Ryze Kuja wrote: There was a druid build I was working on a while ago that was a "DM flips the table" style of Druid, where you put your Stealth bonus up in the clouds and get Natural Spell, Reach Spell, and Hellcat Stealth, and by level 10-12ish you're making Stealth DC's in the 80-120 range, and you can perform Stealth checks even while actively viewed as a Move Action. Basically you wild shape into a diminutive-sized Hummingbird, fly to max range, and then rain hell upon the battlefield with Reach Spells. Each round, use your Standard to Cast a spell, use your Swift to Quicken a spell (if desired), and then use your Move Action to Restealth while actively viewed. If your enemies can't pass the 100 +/- 20ish Stealth DC, then they can't target you with spells, arrows, or anything. If your DM ever does cast the legendary spell DM is Sick of your Crap and cheats to hit you, you fly/stealth off and heal.
You interested in doing something like that?
That sounds hilarious but we have a fresh DM, so should probably not lol
Arkham Joker wrote: Your choice of cleric or druid will basically come down to the nature of your other party members and what level the game will go to.
If your "melee, ranged and sneaky" fellow PCs are providing overall capable combatants then another pure caster could be good, and here I would definitely go cleric - with the correct choice of race/archetype/deity, you can run a wizard very close and have more survivability.
However, if they could still do with a bit of help in-combat then I would def go for druid. From Lv 1-8/9 a well built druid with an animal companion can dish the damage very well and still have some spells in their pocket.
Some of the players are kinda fresh, so I'm leaning toward a Druid and animal companion and maybe retrain to domain after a while. Will have to talk to my DM.
Thank you for all the suggestions. I am not intending to be a healbot. I know UMD exists. And I want to play a divine caster.
Still not sure if I want to be a pure caster or If I want to do some melee.
Only core races, so I'm probably going for dwarf.
I don't know what specific class the other players will be playing, other than what I have already said.
Hi, I'm a returning player. Haven't played in about 3 years. We are starting a new online campaign, and I'm not sure what to play.
We have a melee, ranged, sneaky and arcane character. So I guess I should provide some healing.
Can anyone recommend a build? I've been looking at Storm Druid, but would like some more options.
Can someone please explain the following to me?
Tome of Horrors wrote: Shape Breath
Benefit: The creature can shape the area of effect of its breath weapon as a free action whenever it uses it. If the creature’s base breath weapon is cone-shaped, it can release it in a line twice as long that deals 1-1/2 times the amount of normal damage (where applicable) to a single target due to the concentration of the effect.
Bolding mine. Is it 1-1/2 damage to one creature inside the line, and normal damage to the rest, or is it only one creature that is affected? Does the line stop after hitting one target? The wording seems clear that only one creature is affected, but it seems kinda strange..
I have the same problem, but it only happens when I scroll back up a bit.
Unruly wrote: I don't know how easy it would be to fix this, but on the mobile version the PRD has a strong tendency to scroll back to the top of a page while I'm trying to read an entry. This happens on Chrome for Android and the stock Android browser.
I was trying to scroll through various pages and every time I took my finger off the screen to read something it would stay where I was for maybe 10 seconds at the most before shooting all the way back up to the top. If I held my finger on the screen it would stay longer but would still end up back at the top of the page in short order. It kind of makes the PRD hard to use on a cell phone.
I have the same problem on my android. Scrolling down works fine, but every time I scroll a bit upwards, it pops all the way to the top of the page again.
Is this thread for real? :O
It`s difficult and expensive to keep your AC good enough as you level above ca. 10th. Finding ways to fly or turning invisible is way better to keep attacks from hitting you, or some kind of miss chance (displacement, mirror image etc..).
1 person marked this as a favorite.

That's a really low DEX... i agree, you should have at least a 14 dex also if you use buckler you take a -1 to attack rolls and you don't gain the benefit of the shield bonus when using two hands to attack. so you might as well get at least 12 dex to make up for the buckler being mostly useless when using 2h weapons. Looks like a 25 point buy. Dex is unnecessary IMO. OP said he wanted to be a front line damage dealer, so he should focus on STR, CON and CHA, and just get the biggest armor money can buy. Maybe dump WIS down to 8, and put a 12 in DEX for adamanite full plate.
I prefer a 12 in INT for extra skill points, really hate not being able to do anything except smash stuff.
If Ghost Touch for armor was a +1 ability, then every ghost would get it since you can wear Ghost Touch armor while etheral and still go through walls... seems Paizo doesn`t want OP ghosts:P
I like this combination:
-Armor with the Righteous-enhancement for large size and 10`reach.
-Combat reflexes.
-A wand of fluid form, giving me 20` reach for AoO`s with a melee weapon:)
-and lunge for a total of 25` reach while I full attack.
Suddenly whirlwind attack seems like a worthwile investment:)
Efficient Quiver
Edit: and Quick Draw for items placed in nifty straps and pockets about your person:)

Do this next session:
Ask one of your players to look up an obscure rule in one of the rule books then look it up using CM and see who finds it faster. lol Hehe, maybe I will try that :P
It will be difficult finding an obscure enough rule though, the rest of my group knows almost every rule by heart..
Epic, mythic, Chuck Norris, I don`t care. I want it! :)

I found two different versions of the same enhancement:
Nimbleness. Armor feels lighter and less restrictive. Maximum Dexterity bonus increases by +2, armor check penalties decreases by 1. Price: +1 bonus, page 137 Forgotten Realms – Magic of Faerun.
NIMBLENESS (page 13, Magic Item Compendium)
Price: +1 bonus
Property: Armor
Caster Level: 8th
Aura: Moderate; (DC 19) transmutation
Activation: —
This suit of armor looks much less restrictive
than others of its type.
A suit of armor that has this property has
a maximum Dexterity bonus 1 higher
than normal, and its armor check penalty
is reduced by 2.
Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and
Armor, cat's grace.
Cost to Create: Varies.
Appears in Pathfinder Society..
Captain`s Blade
category: Andoran/faction
You were born on board a ship and learned to fight side-by-side the sailing men and women of the Andoran fleet. While onboard any vessel afloat on water, you gain a +1 trait bonus on Acrobatics and Climb checks. One of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.
Ah, didn`t see the "while onboard any vessel"-thing before now. That makes it pretty useless for you, I guess. Sorry:P

No. You can only declare a Power Attack when it is your initiative, then the bonus to damage and penalty to attack lasts until it is your initiative again. No exceptions, sorry. Is there a reference for this? Power Attack states that you must choose to use it "before making an attack roll," emphasis mine. This says to me that you could decide to use Power Attack on any attack, including AoO's. If it had said that it had to be declared as part of an attack action, then I'd agree with you. Hmm, not exactly.. It is just the only way I have ever interpreted Power Attack. But I think the RAI here is pretty clear: "You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn.", emphasis mine. What I think the Paizo gods meant here when they incsribed this particular rule, in their not-so-permanent stone tablet, is that when you choose to activate PA you are stuck with your choice until it is your turn again.
I mean, if you can`t turn off PA when it is someone else`s turn because you find those AC-penalties a trifle irritating, then you can`t suddenly activate it out of initiative because of an AoO and you want to do extra damage.

I`m afraid of the internet after skimming this thread.. Can someone please put it out of it's misery?

O and if you do kill it... you guys are gunna be so freakn rich your DM will never throw one of these at you again... chop it up and vendor it! welcome to being so freakn rich you don't know what to do with it.
Uhm, the metals used in the construction of one adamantine golem is not worth more than 100.000 gp, i.e. 25.000 each. I will admit it`s a bit more than the Core Rulebook average treasure value per encounter, but it`s hardly more than what 4 16th level characters will know what to do with.
but yeah, try to out-think it. Shouldn`t be a problem with the resources you have awailable at your level:)

As far as crafting, I'd take a page from some of the skill boosting items and require that the crafter actually have the feats desired to create the item of them. So getting Skill Focus (Arcana) might be fairly easy to get from an NPC crafter, while getting Whirlwind Attack would be much harder (as most martial classes who'd have invested in that chain don't bother crafting).
I agree. It should not be possible to craft this kind of item without knowing the feat beforehand.
I would recommend having your party wizard cast Enlarge Person on your barbarian, or buying a Enlarge Person-Permanency for 2.5k at your local Magic-Mart.
This, coupled with lunge, will enable you to full-attack someone 15 feet away, AND give you AoO`s when they try to close the distance.
Also good for avoiding AoO`s against yourself when the time comes that you meet someone bigger than yourself :D
Knight of the Left Hand, Ultimate Prestige Classes, Mongoose Publishing, page 136.
I always wanted to try out this class, but my DM never let me. strange..
Wouldn`t mind a converted and mildly nerfed version of this one for my inner powergamer :D
Morain wrote: Has anyone said Living Wall yet?
I'm saying it. Living wall!
Basically it is an undead wall that absorbs every creature it kills, and gains all their abilities. Imagine a huge wall of dozens of mangeled bodies all attacking and casting spells at you simultaneously
+1!
I`m a bit confused by the rules. How would the weapon damage increase for my enlarged fighter wielding a huge scythe (strongarm bracers*)with lead blade? (base damage 2d4)
* strongarm bracers makes you able to wield weapons as if you were one size category larger than normal. Page 139, Magic Item Compendium.
Hi, just a quick question. I`m kinda new to PF and these forums, where can I find the Graveknight template?
