lure him into his cave and just collapse the entrances... either lock him in... or on top of him... even a older dragon will require time to dig itself back out... though this might now work If he has spells that would let him walk through walls or blast things away... then you run into the ecology of a dragon... how long can they survive without a source of air? food? water? ect ect... ![]()
me and my group tend to play a more kick in the door style play... so provided the one who "owns" the companion has a decent handle animal and such... and the ropes and a basic intelligence it just gets glazed over... also most companions will be hard to drag into dungeons without getting the come or heel tricks... ![]()
seems like it would make a decent campaign... though it would be a bit tough at low levels... and to easy at high levels.... a level 5-10 fighter could slaughter entire hoards of standard zombies with little to no chance of penetrating his armor.... and arcane casters could decimate entire hoards with a handful of fireballs... though this is just my opinion... still sounds fun! ![]()
so... I have a campaign set up where a group of people are sent out as pathfinders or trailblazers for a bunch of colonists... they are sent ahead to secure a place... they are set to discover a bit of prime land... the only problem is the tribe of goblins ruling it... and their buddies(ettins, various beasts, and a few other things)... I feel like goblin genocide seems like a bit of an evil act... even if the goblins are evil... what do you think? and if it is evil, then whats a good reason to kill them all... ![]()
honestly... players need to think things through before doing things... I would turn his hand into a Crawling Hand (MM2 Pg59). and he losses his hand... no reason to reward stupidity like some people think. though they are aloud to have their own oppinions, and I respect that. and if you think about it there are spells to reattach body parts or regrow them. so he should be fine after some time. ![]()
For the healing spheres thing, I would probably only offer them in limited numbers and to parties with little to no healing magics, like for small parties or parties with a bad mix. About the bottomless skillet I think I meant to revise it so it could feed a larger group & mounts but had not done it yet. The headbands where more of just a for fun item and for parties who split up often. I was going to discount them but was unsure of the prices. I also considered making them slot less but it seemed a bit expensive. Also if any of these items were be added to a campaign it would by GMs discretion, not something I intended to put in book or something like that. ![]()
Bottomless Skillet: Originally designed by sailors on incredibly long journeys, it quickly became a must have for soldiers and adventurers. Once per day this skillet can produces enough food for 3 medium creatures or 1 large to survive off for 24 hours. The food dissipates after 24 hours if not consumed.
I wasn't sure which of these next ones to use so here are both Headband of Sending(A): On command this very thin dull gray headband can send a brief message to another wearer of a Headband of Sending. This will mentally alert the wearer of the message and you can have a conversation between the two wearers. You can talk with up to 4 other people at a time.

So I am a GM in a game and I have a PC with a terror bird mount. its a animal and he wants to get awakened cast on it. he also was asking if its possible for it to gain character levels or if it just remains at the 7 hd it gets normally (3+ 2for terror upgrade +2 for awaken).. I told him im not sure how this works and would ask the community about it... if you can help me out I would be grateful. please and thanks ![]()
i guess this depends on the race of said lich (before he became a lich)... was he human? if so pick any old name... and add something fun afterwards.... like Zachariah of the Blinded Eyes or Trinity the Crippled... if its and elf or something pick a name from the standard names or from the long list of novels and movies... or heck even from history... I always thought Solomon (like the king from the bible) was a good name... and it could fit into other races... ![]()
well if you are the GM make him show you how he is aloud to get each and every feat, ability, or modifier. if this does not work then just kill the thing off and make your own for the character.animal companions are creatures that exist regardless of the characters, and as such should be ran by the GM with the character simply using their skills and tricks to make it do what it wants. im not so good with eidolons, so there may be some diffrences there... this is my opinion.... if I GM i let the player make the animal with me checking that everything is legal... if you are nto GM then just talk to them and ask them about it... they may have misread something or got confused... they can be a bit complicated.... just my oppinons here... ![]()
so I am GM for my brother in a just for fun solo game... he is a prince of a realm, but he is not the heir to the throne... his ship ran aground during a storm and he is lost in a foreign country. what kind of search would be levied by the kingdom to find him. I have a few ideas but I would like to get the publics opinon to... maybe come up with some extra thing... thanks ![]()
now I am one of the players.... I would be fine with many of these options... but he forgot to mention the fact that if we miss a payment we accrue an additional 611gold payment on top of the one we miss.... making any long term trip not worth it... and the only adventure hook he offered from the tower was a forest that is a long distance away... hopefully he comes up with a better alternative... because at this point my hobgoblin magis is going to "talk" to the tax collecters, blow up the tower and flee yet another civilization.... lol ![]()
worst GM.... well she was really a DM since it was in 3.5.... she decided for me that my 14int barbarian couldn't take quickdraw feat.... my character had to talk like a buffoon.... elves automatically start with magic longbows that have unlimited ammo.... dwarves can magically snap their fingers and summon giant stone objects.... whoever played the rouge got a magic clock that used stop time unlimited times per day.... this list can go on and on... and if you said anything about it she played the im dm and I am judge, jury, executioner, god, ect ect. and the whole racial things were only when I suited her.... my elven ranger didn't get a bow... and I had a hawk that disobeyed every command I gave it... including flying up to a beholder and getting killed.... then brought back (by someone else unrelated to party) and it would not come near me for like 3 weeks game time... and I think im gunna end this here... I could keep going.... lol ![]()
As the GM I prefer that drakes (featured in bestiary2&3) be treated as regular animals and such with the ability to breath special attacks by biological functions. I take and turn them into animal instead of dragon type and made a few more modifications. Now I have a druid wondering if he can have one of these as a pet. I think it would make things interesting and since he is playing alone it would balance things out a little. How would I go about trimming down the drakes into animal companions. ![]()
well I have to say... just doing ship to ship battle by the sea... its easiest to be as small of target you can be... as quick as you can... reach the ship board it and kill the people on board (or capture ect)... if you board it then drop the ship underneath you can avoid the cannons (maybe) and my brother brought up something funny.... lower your ship to low altitude and summon a wall of force between you and them they run flat out into it... bad for an airship... go back and finish up the survivors and claim some gear... (I know its not defense but I like a good offence over defense...) ![]()
well slings are handy because you get your str with it automatically (im pretty sure atleast) you could hypothetically wear stones on a necklace/bracelet and wear the sling as part of a belt... (got it from a "Ranger's Apprentice" book).... they are very limited... but make very good back up weapons... and are much cheaper then bows... ![]()
if your looking for good fighter builds... i like range fighters... get all the weapon spec and stuff for longbow (or greatbow if you get it out of 3.5s complete warrior if you want d10 damage).... then get the feats that allow you to attack in melee with a bow and no attack of oppurtunity.... get some of the things that allow you to threaten the area around you... you have a fighter with decent damage (not always the highest) but can hit almost anything that is in the area... and can tank ![]()
I am doing a campaign with a pair of characters (a drow sorcerer and a drow alchemist). I plan on making most of the intelligent races have to band together to stop this threat. I really don't know much about gods and other such divine beings... would one (or group) of the gods think it is a good idea to annihilate the entire planet? or should i just make up some "old gods" who don't like the planet make the behemoths (bestiary 3) and send them? I would like some opinions thank you. |
