If you need to process your anger or spank your inner child or whatever, go find a therapist, religious adviser or whatever therapy is your poison and deal with it.
Just for the record, D&D is my therapy. Without it I would most likely be a serial killer...or a Televangilist. It's had to say. It could have gone either way.
I plan on bringing Kabran in right after D1 vs. whoever Ralla latches onto. As for Quinn and crew, I changed the carnival schedule to one night a week, playing off the "If you're isolated, you're also the only show in town" if I need to explain why a carnival is there all the time. As for why he's stayed, he and his wife explored a lot of the area, he's attached to it (more than the PCs know). The carnival of tears will be played as a winter celebration gone horribly wrong... >XD
CNB, I think the complaint was best expressed by a poster who said, and I paraphrase, with 500 monsters there will be a lot more monsters in the 4e MM but with the new design style there will also be a lot more monsters who are left out.
And as I pointed out on the other thread, there are a lot of duplicate monsters in the Monster Manual. We get 6 varieties of Air Elemental. Are your players really going to remember the difference between that Greater and Elder Air Elemental (30 hp, extra +3 to hit, and Cleave)? I appreciate having 8 zombies to choose from, but troglodyte zombies and bugbear zombies are basically the same. Ditto Stone Giants and Hill Giants.
What 4e recognizes is, if you want someone burly to stand in front of the party and swing at them, they're going to look roughly the same no matter if they're a zombie or a giant or an owlbear. And whatever subtle differences they have stats-wise, it's going to be completely invisible to the players.
Instead, they're going through and making every monster distinct. When you fight a Wyrmpriest, you're not just going to be able to say "This is a cleric, so they'll have spell X and Y and Z." It's going to feel different than every other kobold and every other spellcaster.
That's a change from 3.5. And I'll gladly take it.
Well, yeah... If you play them as nothing more than a block of numbers... I dunno, maybe I'm old fashioned and don't realize it, but an attack from a hill giant should feel totally different than a fight with a stone giant...
Talsien, I understand how you feel. I tried to list the things I find positive, and I'm not one who will be playing 4e anytime soon (just picked up City State and Wildlands boxed set at .5 priced).
That said, I appriciate your effort.
Seconded.

Crosswired, Several Christian Hells have frozen over, for we are in complete agreement on the irritating posters.
It seems to me that the 4E sub-board is getting out of hand, no matter what. Even very neutral and balanced (no pun intended) topics such as those of Yin and Yang have quickly attracted some very misplaced humor (to be polite about it).
The stickied topic was enough for a time, some moderation was due, but to no avail. Some members of the community are taking steps away from the boards or even from the company.
May I suggest to close down this board for a while, maybe until Paizo has made a definitive decision about switching/not switching its products line to 4E?
Having a place where to meet and discuss RPG matters such as the Paizo boards is a privilege, and not just another opportunity to be abused at leisure.
I agree, this constant jumping on and harping upon one side or the other is beginning to get tiresome. I admit, I'm a smart-arse, but at least I'm trying to be civil about it. Sadly golem, I think you're right; a culling needs to occur.
It's the great WotCBoard Katana-Thread Effect all over again...
Ten things that I dislike about fourth edition D&D:
1) Where the frack are my gnomes, half-orcs, bards, barbarians, and druids? And for that matter, we get tieflings but no aasimar? WTF?
2) I enjoy RP characters with ranks in Profession. If I wanted a choppy-bit game, I'll flip my PS2 on.
3) Statting up NPCs is fun for me. Dumbing it down doesn't look like it helped any.
4) Everyone's a spellcaster (or something)!
5) I'm not uber-kewl-1337 enough for the game I love, marketing told me so.
6) I'm a canon-junkie. This whole "toss it into a blender and call the mush D&D" ain't flyin for me.
7) I don't know for sure, but it sure as sugar sounds like WoW...
8) DDI
9) I'm old and changes scares me
10) Why the hell does a reptilian race have breasts?
Ten things that I like about fourth edition D&D:
1) My wife is truly jazzed about 4E and wants to run a 4E game
2) The game MAY be more streamlined
3) All the 3.5 stuff that'll be at Half Price Books
4) The mechanics LOOK interesting
5) I've always wanted a Large-sized bulette as a paladin mount
6) I actually like Tome of Battle, so 4E MIGHT not be that bad
7) I can still use my old dice with the new edition
8) Once it's out, people can stop speculating wildy about it
9) Once it's out, I can get down off this fence I'm on
10) Dragonborn women have b3wbz and scaled b3wbz are h0t!
DEITY: You can grant spells, are immortal, and can't be killed (hence, you get no stat block).
Oh, really?
*cough*demigod*cough*
That hurt my feelings.
... I'm sorry Aroden. I didn't mean that. But hey, chin up there big guy! At least you're dead! It could be a lot worse. Just look at that "Spellplague" debacle that's going on. Although, if you do learn one thing from those forgotten realms, it's never give up trying to come back. I mean, take a look at Bane! He was dead, his kid (who had a name no one could pronounce) was trying to run things while he was gone, and now he's back and in the core pantheon! I believe in you 'Roden!
- An empty vial that reeks of rotten meat and death (Spellcraft DC 18 to realize it was a potion of animate dead)
- A ruined spell component pouch filled with half-eaten components, rat droppings, and a short cold iron rod (a variant metamagic component that, when used, lets the caster cast a Silent and Still detect magic; worth 275 gp)
- The preserved remains of a tiny monstrous spider.
Two paragraphs in and I'm done. This flame-worthy drivel isn't worth any real D&D player's time, regardless of what edtion you play. However, if you're looking to get a good mad-on go right ahead and read it.
"Dungeons and Dragons is for fat, virgin dorks and Gygax was a hack..."
Thanks Sal. I plan to run this some time in the future, and since I've got nothing on my plate other than job searches now, I thought I'd prep a bit.
I'm typing up a little handout with the requisite "nasty but nice" paragraph about the town followed by "What the PCs Know", "Places of Interest", "Citizen's of Interest", and "Rumors". Lots of hooks for the PCs to snag themselves on :)
Paizo is an open community and will continue to be so as long as the community allows it to stay that way. If all of our sub boards were filled with vitriol and personal attacks, we'd moderate the whole thing -- but since that vitriol is limited to this one small (10 foot by 10 foot) room of our website, we're going to make sure that room stays as clean and fun as the rest of the rooms at Paizo Castle.
Y'know, lemme tell ya, it's kinda hard to get cheezed off and vitriolous when all YOU "moderators" do is come in here and actually talk to us like we're adults. I mean, c'mon! How can I get mad at the Man for keepin' me down and shuttin' me up if the Man keeps the lines of communication open and freely moving? Sheesh! *Goes to the WotC Boards for some abuse*
Of course, if what you're saying is that we should respect the concept of Freedom of Speech and apply it to the boards, that's an entirely different kettle of fish.
The shared rage idea is a good one. Maybe start it at a 10 ft radius centered on you, bumping to 20 ft then 30 ft as the class advances.
Another suggestion would be to look at the Ironskin Chant feat from the Complete Adventurer. While not OGL, it's a nice little ability that lets you turn bardic music into DR, something a Shoanti skald would find very useful. I'm not suggesting "At level 3, you gain 'Ironskin Chant' as a bonus feat", but perhaps butchering the feat and taking the useful elements and applying a different name to them. Of course, if your're not concerned about OGL, simply grant it as a bonus feat.
Finally, how about a mass demoralize effect? A raging Shoanti singing the ways he'll break my bones with his earthbreaker? Yeah, me and my bandit buddies are more than a bit scared.
For all who yell about Freedom of speech an so on. Your freedom ends at that moment when you attack your opponent in a discussion personaly and not his arguments.
Uh... Pardon? That's being a jerk-face, which is still technically covered under freedom of speech last I checked.
No today i was only called fascist on page one of this thread. ;-)
I see that here a lot of nice people but there are a minority of idiots that make this subboatd suck. They are on both camps. This thread is not about pro or anit 4e ist about the behavior on boths sides.
I reserve the right to be an idiot. I'm good at it.
Am I allowed to point and laugh, or would that be inflamatory?
You're perfectly allowed to point and laugh. If you do so at everyone else who indulges in the practice I won't even accuse you of hypocrisy.
I apologize actually. I'm dealing with off-board drama and I'm a touch snippy. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a hypocrite, but looking at the thread that I referenced, the difference between there and here is night and day worthy IMHO.
As you're almost certainly well aware, there are some people on both the Enworld and WotC forums who are strongly anti 4E. Oddly, they seem to be able to continue posting despite this. Perhaps it's because they manage to do so in a civilised manner, without resorting to personal insults, ad hominem attacks, and repeatedly spamming threads. When even Paizo staffers are avoiding a section of their own boards because of the tone there, I'd have to say I think they should probably do something about it rather than avoiding the issue.
Am I allowed to point and laugh, or would that be inflamatory?
I just finished reading over some of those "civilized" posters in the Can shillelagh be used on a greatclub thread and let me tell you that if the same question were asked here, the tone of the responses would be markedly different.
He's admitted it! He will live for many centuries!
Or at least work for many centuries.
11th-level caster? [X]
Craft Wondrous Item? [X]
Willing to give up soul for eternal life and power? [ ]
As an aside to Dr Jacobs' iminent journey to lichdom, will we be seeing a Rise of the Pollution Runelord due to Sandpoint's Junker's Edge because of this papal mandate? Are the goblins who steal from the garbage piles actually divine emissaries working on the side of good? Are my PCs going to the Nine Hells because they've got obscenely phat stacks of loot? I NEED TO KNOW!
Wise words. This is a situation when it is best to be a pessimist. Quietly resign yourself to the thought of Paizo picking the worst possible choice for you - and get used to the fact.
That way, if Paizo chooses that path, you are already accepting of it even if you don't agree with it.
I know I have...
Woooo! High-five my pessimistic spirit-brother! Plan for the worst! That way you're either prepared or pleasantly surprised.
Remember to keep your emotions in check when Paizo decides which edition to support. I am afraid THAT will actually be the low point of the angst on these boards. Whichever way they go (or go indi) the message boards will be crazy because you cannot please everyone.
Very true. The supporters will be nothing more than Paizo Fanboys while the decriers will be branded as heretics.
Of course, if Paizo printed every adventure with 3.5, 3.75, and 4E stats, it'd be all good, wouldn't it? Yeah, every issue of Pathfinder would cost 50 bucks and people'd complain about "all the useless content that I can't use", but I digress...
Now since we're talking about creature reimagining, I do have ask about the other alignment races. Will there be a Golarion analogue for the true neutral plane (assuming there is one)? I think that the rilmani are not covered under the OGL, so I'd assume that something new would need to be hatched. Also, while an ultroloth is WotC only, would we possibly something called an ultrodaemon in Golarion?
Frag sexy. If I want sexy, I'll look at my wife. I'm not going to get into the "You need classes A, B, C, and D or else you can't play" arguement, but in all honesty, I hope Paizo rocks the boat by making the mystery iconic something truly special and not a "He's here to fill [Blah] spot".
I believe the question is a non-starter, as it states in the spell description that it can only be cast on willing, living creatures (emphasis on living) and that any creature killed automatically reverts back to their normal form, though they remain dead. I don't think the rules as written would ever allow the situation you describe to arise.
Of course, if its something you'd think would be cool for your game, as a DM I suppose it's your right, neigh, your responsibility to have whichever would be the most interesting for your game to happen. ^_^
Instead of saying polymorph I should've said polymorph any obejct, which would fit the spell's description.
If a non-giant corpse was polymorphed into a giant corpse and dumped into said cauldron, which would happen?
1 - The non-giant would arise as a runeslave giant and stay that way.
2 - The non-giant would arise as a runeslave giant until the polymorph wore off at which point it would become a runeslave non-giant.
3 - The non-giant would arise as a runeslave giant until the polymorph wore off at which point it would revert back to its regular non-giant, non-runeslave form.
4 - Nothing would happen at all.
Oh my god, you'd kill wife with a comment like that. I won't rant on that now (much like Russ), but dang... That made my head explode a little. [/slight_rant]
While I agree that IF 4E sucks Pelor's hairy holy symbol Hasbro/WotC will do something, I have no idea what that "something" would be. As much as I'd like to see a 3.5 revival, ala Coke Classic (despite my Pepsi loving tastes), I somehow doubt that that will ever happen by WotC's hand. A third party company picking up the 3.5 everburning torch? More than likely.

I also cut out corn syrup as much as I could. My wife is borderline diabetic and I have it in the family so better safe than sorry. However, I still swill my diet cherry pepsi, diet sunkist, and diet mt dew every day. The overuse of corn syrup is bad. It's in friggin everything...
We have a friend who makes the smoothest brandy on the planet. He and his family have been doing it in small batches whenever the fancy strikes them, and we recieve a small bottle as a Christmas gift a few years ago. It, being the first actual brandy my wife and I ever had, spoiled us as the next time we bought brandy from the liquor store (PA has strict alcohol laws) we had to use it only in cooking. We just couldn't stand the taste.
My wife and I were married two days ago. We met at a D&D-influenced live action RPG and I can't help but think where we'd be if not for that. Thank you Gary, you've touched more lives than you could ever know. For those who have come before us, for those who walk with us, and for those who have yet to come, God speed Gary.
Hell, by this rational, even the common fighter could understand a spell formula, but without the ability to gather the energy, it doesn’t do him any good.
You mean like a fighter with cross-class ranks in Spellcraft?
Exactly. I did a complete rewrite of the sorcerer class that is a pretty balanced mix that incorporates spell points, the warlock's eldritch blast, 11 different ancestry options, and the dragon disciple-esque 20th level capstone of "you get a free template". I haven't got a chance to use it just yet, but I REALLY want to... [/self_aggrandizing_threadjack]
I'm interested in your rewrite, since I just did an alternate magic system of my own.
