Paizo and Crocodile Games are pleased to announce a new line of unpainted metal miniatures for Pathfinder. The first wave, due in February, includes miniatures from Pathfinder #1—Rise of the Runelords Chapter 1: "Burnt Offerings".
Stay tuned for previews of more miniatures due in March, highlighting characters from Pathfinder #2—Rise of the Runelords Chapter 2: "The Skinsaw Murders".

That's cool. I love painting minis.
Can you include that in the Pathfinder Chronicles subscription please, Vic?
;)
now you're really trying to make me spend ALL of my money - I hope these are NOT part of the choricles subscription, because that month would have just gone up by $100... and its only 2 months away

![]() |

And for the record, I do not want these on my Chronicles Subscription either.
Yeah, I've got to voice an opinion for no minis for the subscription, also. Adding an amount of money that size would muscle me right out of the subscription, which would make me sad. :( But I figure you folks probably already decided not to include them, so I'll be quiet now.

No worries—these are not part of the subscription.
I figured as much, but thanks!
...If we got Valeros for Burnt Offerings, I can't wait to see Seoni!

I am totally with you. Unfortunately, we haven't found a way to make prepainted plastic miniatures that makes financial sense. When we do, we will do prepainted plastic. Because, trust me, I personally would rather have them painted for me. Just ask my hundreds of D&D minis. :)

Just a random thought - and I don't know if it is feasible in any way:
I know there are some talented painters out there who paint for a living. Maybe it would be possible for Paizo to hook up with one of them and offer 'Paizo miniatures, painted by X' via online store? That would circumvent the 'Can't paint worth a damn' issue for many customers.

Cant wait, but I cant paint either, tried once in the distant past but wasnt good at it but now I guess Ill have to try again, anyone know of a good page with tips on how to paint miniatures and what products to use for painting?
I can't find the link, but there was a pretty neat ENWorld messageboard thread about a procedure called dipping. Basically, you paint the miniatures in a fairly rough manner (about what I am good for) and then dip them in different kinds of wood stain. The end result was stunning. One guy in particular on the thread got all excited and started to do tons of before and after pictures, and you could really see how well it worked. He also started to experiment with different stains to get different results. I think it is bookmarked on my work computer, and if I remember when I am back in the office next Wednesday, I will post the link. I think even I can make decent looking minis with this technique. :)

Didn't know the plastic ones were more expensive/prohibitively so...too bad! I wasn't knocking the concept, just saying that a)I have no paint supplies, and no real motivation to get back into painting (I last did it 15 years ago) b)I'm 30 and a doctor, so what little time I have is spent on other hobbies (like running a pathfinder game! :P) and c)I was never that good at painting to begin with.
But if other people are excited about it, then rock on-you guys continue to build a loyal fan base.

This might be what you were referring to. Neat, I hadn't seen that one before.

There are a series of articles on the Reaper website called The Craft that are pretty good. Once you learn a few of the basic techniques all you need is practice and anyone can become a good painter.

http://www.coolminiornot.com/ is my favourite. Lots of people like http://theminiaturespage.com/ but I find the website extremely cumbersome to navigate, and they have larger-than-regular fonts and erratic colour schemes that make it irritating to try and read anything, but that's my personal opinion.

For supplies I would suggest Vallejo. Their paints have a high level of pigment, which seems to help when your watering them down to the right consistancy. I think they sell brushes on their sight also, so they should be pretty one stop shopping.

I don't have any personal experience with dipping, but from everything I've seen it works for a quick table top quality finesh. Only problem is getting the whole process started. You need the wood stain, which may or may not be a problem, then a place to dip the minis, fling the excess stain off, and let them dry. There was a realy good topic on dipping on warseer a while back, but when I tried the link I have for it I got a big screen full of nothin'...
As for purchasing painted minis off people, I'd be willing to paint some up and put some pics on line if people are interested. I'll say ahead of time I'm not great, but I enjoy painting, and wouldn't charge much. The biggest pain would be the shipping I imagine. What would people be most interested in? The goblins or the iconics?

When I went to my gaming store the other day, they had real miniature dip and some miniatures to which it had been applied. So you don't even need the wood stain.

I agree here completely. I know many people love this part of the game and hobby but for me I don't like painting them or trying to store the metal ones or that sometimes pieces break off no matter what you do. I am a plastic mini guy. I would love these minis but not in metal unpainted.
Peace all.

Chris Fitzpatrick tells me that they encountered some sort of manufacturing error on one of the gobbo sculpts, but that it's been fixed and a new photo is on the way!
Casting begins this week, and I hear the minis will be on sale by the end of the month!
We are so excited to be working on this quality miniatures line with the folks over at Crocodile. They are absolutely the best in the business, and the care they've taken with the line so far is second to none.

I feel so spoiled by Paizo. Ordering everything by subscription is crazy easy, and it makes me happy (though I wish I could pay in advance). Any chance you can get a minis subscription going before mid march? Please?
I don't think we will ever do a subscription for the minis since they aren't being produced by Paizo and thus we don't have any control over when they come into the warehouse. We really only do subscriptions for stuff that we have a modicum of control over. Plus, our margins are much less on these because we aren't making them, so we couldn't offer much of a discount if any, and of course PDFs of the miniatures aren't practical. :)

Who did the sample paint jobs on the miniatures in the photo? I would pay a pretty penny to have a Seoni miniature that was detailed that well. Even if I never use it for a RotRL campaign, my wifes character is a female sorcerer and she would love a mini painted that well.
If we can find out who did it, maybe we could also find out if the person doing it will do commissioned work.
