Male Human Traveler / 8

I posted the following general statement in my other games so most of y'all have probably already seen it but I figured I'd do it here too for thoroughness.

---

My apologies, everyone. Due to some unexpected and unpleasant surprises, work has been kicking my arse for the last couple of weeks. I haven't had much time to log in and contribute to the games during the day and haven't had the energy to stare at the computer screen in the evenings. I'm taking some time off after Thanksgiving. Hopefully it'll allow me the chance to recovery my momentum and a small portion of my sanity. In the meantime, feel free to autobot my PC if I'm taking too long to respond.

Seriously, it's crazy. I also have two birthdays to celebrate this month. There should be a rule about people being born in November and December.

Precisely! :)

Sorry, I've been meaning to post for days but things keep getting in the way. Yeah, Sarien will just keep gambling and keeping an eye on things. I apologize for my silence; between the refugees (most of whom went home over the weekend) and various other busy events, I've had a hard time keeping up with my online commitments.

With the holidays coming, it might be a little while longer before things start to settle down.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Sorry for the delay. I ended up driving down to NYC over the weekend to help out some friends swamped by the hurricane, and brought a few of them back here to stay with me until things improve down there. Things are a bit extra busy right now but hopefully will be able to keep up during the week.

Male Human Traveler / 8

All in all, this time around the storm wasn't as bad for people in my area as Eileen was. I'm glad I don't live in NYC anymore, though, they got hammered hard.

Male Human Traveler / 8

So far I've been doing well. Still have power and very few branches have come down. I'm pretty well inland myself, and sheltered by mountains to boot.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Yeah, the high wind could be pretty problematic.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Yep, we've had to put away all our Halloween decorations and patio furniture. The wind is supposed to be pretty high today with a high chance of damage from debris and trees toppling over. There's also a good possibility that we'll lose our power for a few days. My fingers are crossed that this won't happen, since my wife works from home and needs to have the internet up and running to telecommute. :)

We'll see how it all goes!

Male Human Traveler / 8

I've got it noted down on my character sheet. Thanks, Dax!

Male Human Traveler / 8

See you all on the other side!

Male Human Traveler / 8

Joana:
Sarien's plans for the day is to generally get a feel for the area the Gold Goblin is in so he can know what his options in case things go horribly wrong and he needs an escape route. So he just wants to have a mental picture of the nearby streets, possible places to hide, etc. It's all part of his desire, should he seek employment there after the grand opening, to have a solid understanding of the environment.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Very cool maps.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Happy Thanksgiving, Navior!

Male Human Traveler / 8

I prefer not keeping track of XP myself. I'll add my voice to those preferring leveling up at appropriate times.

Congrats on the anniversary, Wander, and good luck with your convention, the loreweaver!

Thanks! 3 years of blissful matrimony is its own reward, but it was still nice to get away to celebrate the anniversary.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My slide sheets arrived yesterday. They seem to work okay but I'm a little worried about some of the pawns slipping free if I pick up the binder the wrong way. The pawns slide around in the pockets pretty freely. I'm glad I didn't order too many of them, because I think it's an imperfect solution.

What I want now is a sheet organized similarly that can be sealed easily. Maybe I should just start using ziplock bags.

My favorite of them so far has been Carrion Crown. I like the gothic horror elements and love the roleplaying/ investigation aspects of the game.

Male Human Traveler / 8

I agree with Navior's ruling that the attempt would be a standard action.

At any rate, Tevyn's not really concerned about hiding at this point; he'd have no idea that's what Melon is trying to do. My initial instinct, in fact, was to ignore the spider completely and continue concentrating on the other thing (yeah, I suspect I know what it is I'm just not using names even ooc) but I decided a concerted effort as a group might make more sense, especially since Melon's going through so much trouble.

I might regret this if the other thing charges me, but oh well.

Male Human Traveler / 8

I'm in southeastern Vermont. It's a bit of a drive but not too crazy far. However, it's my wedding anniversary this weekend and I'm pretty sure my wife would be less than pleased if I ditched her for a gaming convention.

Male Human Traveler / 8

That's this weekend? If I weren't already occupied, I might have considered taking a trip over there.

I went ahead and ordered one of the 25 sheet packaged slide sleeves. Hopefully that'll last me for a while, even with my subscription. I also got the photo sleeves you posted, since they look pretty good for the Huge pawns. Thanks for posting the pictures of your binder! That was very helpful for making the decision.

I found the baseball card sleeves to be too large for my Large pawns. The business card sleeves work better. I haven't been able to find a satisfactory solution for the Huge ones.

I don't want boxes for my pawns...I'd much rather have sleeves so I can keep them in a binder. What I've got works okay for that so far but I still don't have anything I like for my Smalls and Huges. I didn't want to order the slide sleeves because they seem kind of pricy but I might have to do that next.

Paizo has been making things really difficult for me lately; all my dots are vanishing, and a lot of stuff isn't showing up in my Focused threads either. How annoying.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Yeah, I've been there with the jury duty and work thing. Not fun.

Have a good trip, Bryan.

All praise the DM's HP rerolls! Huzzah!

Male Human Traveler / 8

Ouch, three places? That's a good reason for the laptop to no longer work.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Wow, that sounds like that'll be quite the reunion.

Yeah, Keene is pretty close to me but they're a bit of a chaotic group at Toy City, and they all play on Saturday nights, which don't work so well for me. I'm not a big fan of playing in gaming stores either; I've got hearing issues and large spaces like a store causing weird reverberations with hearing aids.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Shifty: Sounds good to me! It makes sense to me that we'd both be in Magnimar already, and as a member of the society would Oren have an invitation as well or would he have been asked to attend the meeting directly?

Male Human Traveler / 8

Good to know!

Male Human Traveler / 8

It's turned into a busy day at work. I'm most likely not going to be able to post in detail until tonight but if you want to start before that, no problem.

I'm another NH gamer! Unfortunately, I am on the other side of the state on the NH/VT border near Claremont. About 2 hours away from Nashua, where it seems most everyone else is located.

I've got the same problem, only I'm down near Brattleboro. Curiously enough, the only group I've ever really succeeded in playing with out here were originally from Claremont. One or two of those players still lives up there.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Sorry, another busy weekend for me. Already posted Sarien's agreement with Phillip so we should be good to go.

Male Human Traveler / 8

As it happens, I'm departing for NYC this evening and I might not have much time to post for the weekend either. Holding the first post 'till Monday might not be a bad idea.

Male Human Traveler / 8

You're right: I forgot to add the Weapon Focus bonus. Now it's at +8. Thanks for catching that!

Male Human Traveler / 8

Level 5 Update:

A much better roll, methinks.

Absolutely. I'll take it!

Male Human Traveler / 8

Level 5! Hurray!

HP: 1d10 ⇒ 1

I'll happily take the DM roll option after that.

Male Human Traveler / 8

*sigh* My entire weekend got eaten away by a work emergency. I've had no time to even visit Paizo.com, much less work on my character.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Poor kitty!

Sorry to hear about the pain in the bank account too!

Male Human Traveler / 8

Apologies again; my whole weekend got tied up with some work emergencies. Boy, have I got a lot to catch up with!

Male Human Traveler / 8

Sorry. It's been a busy busy day (starting at about 3:30 am) and I haven't had time to read, much less update. I'll do my best to do so tonight before passing out from exhaustion.

Did the TN Kobolds go out and eat kids after they kidnapped them? I rest my case

Actually, we don't know. Last I heard, the OP didn't know if the kobolds actually captured the kids are not, which is why he was delaying for so long.

Given the DM's input to this particular conversation, I think a warning is absolutely justified and it's up to the player whether or not to take that warning and apply it or not.

People keep saying that the Paladin is Judge, Jury and Execution. But really, in this case that's the DM's role. If the DM sees the act as evil then that's all the end of the discussion, in my opinion.

And before people get all fired up about DMs taking advantage of players and all that, I say that as a guy who plays a lot more than DMs. I think the DM should be the final arbiter as to whether or not my paladin is breaking the rules. As the player, it's my job to know what the DM expects. Either that or I play something else. It's not that complicated.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Hey Shifty! Welcome to the game!

Sorry I've been quiet this week. Labor Day holiday stuff has been occupying a lot of my attention. I should be able to wrap things up in a couple of days and be all set and ready to go.

Jodokai wrote:
If you've already established that I'm a liar and I've tried to have you killed, then I tell you that you need to kill all those koblolds because they stole my children, what are you going to do/think? You're a Paladin, so you know if there's a possiblity of me telling you the truth, you have to do something, but there's also a huge possibility that I'm trying to make your life difficult or kill you. Then, if I'm willing to try to kill you, wouldn't I be willing to try to get others killed, like innocent kobolds?

Sure you're going to be cautious about it. That's not the issue. The issue is whether that caution warrants a 12-24 hour delay that may lead to the deaths of the children you're out there to save. If you've got enough of the benefit of doubt to be out there in the first place, then you need to act under the assumption that the children have, indeed, been kidnapped by something and they are therefore in danger. That danger means that you must resolve the issue as fast as reasonably possible. Waiting around because you don't have a handy spell does not, in my opinion, qualify as a reasonable delay when lives are potentially at stake.

What would he have done had he not happened to have a cleric handy? Wasted time searching for someone who just happens to speak Kobold? A quick Detect Evil would have sufficed to determine that the creatures were evil, which raises the likelihood that someone is in danger there.

Quote:
And let's say all of this is moot and waiting was the wrong decsion, is being too cautions when trying to save children really an unredeemable offense that would cause you to fall from grace?

I'd say no. If I were DM, it'd warrant a warning.
