My apologies, everyone. Due to some unexpected and unpleasant surprises, work has been kicking my arse for the last couple of weeks. I haven't had much time to log in and contribute to the games during the day and haven't had the energy to stare at the computer screen in the evenings. I'm taking some time off after Thanksgiving. Hopefully it'll allow me the chance to recovery my momentum and a small portion of my sanity. In the meantime, feel free to autobot my PC if I'm taking too long to respond.

Another question of your preference for combat- I personally prefer to wrap up the round in one summary post but I can understand how your actions ultimately impact each others'. Would you prefer I try to respond to each action post? Just with "<insert PC> misses" or "<insert NPC> fails their save"?

Man, I already miss power attacking with my great axe, why did I think a bow and Arrow would be as fun?!? Haha.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone that celebrates it! I will have a short update soon since I'm posting from my phone.
Thanks James, you too!

Sorry I've not posted an update in a while. Busy at work before the holidays and now I've been sick for the last week. I was determined not to post another excuse without actually posting an update instead and I really just haven't been on the boards so much. Give me a little time to re-read the thread and the adventure and we'll keep going.
I am a little concerned that the rest of the AP looks like wall-to-wall dungeon crawls and I'm not sure how well that will work out.

Hey everybody, just checking in. It's been a rough week at work, so I haven't had a chance to update. I also feel like the fight is really dragging, so I may just fast forward through it and get to a meatier confrontation.
Also managed to wipe out 3/5 of my home group and they decided they want to go ahead with Skull and Shackles instead of staging a rescue for the two petrified characters. So it looks like I have some spreadsheets to make!
Hope everyone's doing well!

Haha, did you TPK them with Shattered Star?

It was a home-brewed campaign in Varisia, actually. They fought a dracolisk in the caves under Dragon's Punchbowl trying to get the dragon's hoard and the dwarf monk and OP paladin were turned to stone on some unlucky rolls. The cleric was out that week, so it fell to the half-orc bard and the dwarf ranger to finish it off- got him down to 8 hp before he dissolved the ranger with his breath. The bard and the cleric were still alive, but I guess everyone felt like moving on.

I'm sorry to say that I think I need to close this one down. My posting time has gotten more and more limited and I'm not really feeling the adventure path this time around- even if there are a lot of cool moments and things, every chapter comes down to a multi-level dungeon crawl and it's not really playing to the play-by-post format's strengths.
Again, very sorry to pull the plug on this and I'm really grateful to you all for giving me your time and attention.

I hadn't thought about it. If/when I do try again I was thinking of doing something with Kaer Maga again or in Ustalav. Maybe when things calm down a little. And keep your eyes peeled at the Kobold Press releases in a few months for a trapsmith piece I'm doing illustrations for!

It was a Planescape pbp I started 4 or 5 years ago- the first of my long string of games that have fallen apart for various reasons.
Wow, that's weird. When I first started to hangout on these message boards I was curious about play by posts, so I picked one that looked cool and read the first several pages of it. I remember getting super excited because it was based in Sigil and I was a big Planscape fan. Turns out, it was Unity of Rings. The last couple of years that we've played together, I never made the connection.

On different note, I've had a lot of fun playing with all of you and I would hate to see us all go our separate ways. Anyone else interested in running a game? I wouldn't mind doing it, if nobody else wanted to.
@James, I know you're a little too busy to run something, but would you want to join another game as a player?

Good deal; thanks for volunteering, Jam! Yeah, I'd definitely be in for something. I'm already in a Savage Tide, Legacy of Fire, and Kingmaker game, so my preference would be one of the other ones. Guess if I had to vote, I'd rank my top 4 this way:
1. Carrion Crown
2. Rise of the Runelords
3. Skull & Shackles
4. Serpent's Skull
I'd be up for Reign of Winter, too, if that's the way everyone wanted to go. But I don't wanna force you to have to spend the cash if you weren't going to get it.

Thanks for offering to run something, Jam!
I'm currently in several AP PbP's: Age of Worms, Rise of the Runelords, Council of Thieves, two Kingmakers, and Carrion Crown; plus a Serpent's Skull game that's just died out near the beginning of the second book. I would definitely be up for Reign of Winter, Jade Regent, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Second Darkness, or Skull & Shackles.
Oooh... Skull & Shackles... I could re-purpose Sister Mara as a pirate!
Of course, with Reign of Winter, I could re-purpose her as a Winter Witch...

Hey no problem, I'm excited to try it out. I ran a pbp for about a month for some RL friends of mine a while ago, but that is as far as my PBP GMing experience goes.
Okay, so far we've got Skull & Shackles and Rein of Winter as the front runners. I almost think the Rein of Winter will be the only AP that none of have played so far, since the rest got pared down so quickly. I'll wait until Monday to hear from Shifty and Randall, then I'll PM them to see if they're still interested, since they may have stopped following the thread.
I could definitely see Sister Mara's avatar working for a pirate or a winter witch though.
