Most original title ever!
Here's where any new characters can be introduced and you guys from the Godsmouth game can re-spec your characters and we can discuss any rules for the campaign. In addition to tuning your PCs as you see fit, you may also discuss how you're spending the coin from the previous adventure and which two traits you plan on taking. I have some recommendations from the Shattered Star guide, but I also don't want to step on any toes. Also, I don't feel like the traits necessarily indicate a strong connection to the campaign as much as they indicate a connection to Magnimar- so you can opt out of the campaign traits if you so choose.

For Kua I would say the Serpent Runner trait and one of the bonuses it comes with would be a good choice and we can just rename it "Duskwarden Training" or something of that nature. Or Non-Traditional Native (Shoanti).
Yang would be a good fit for the Exchange Agent I think.
Auron might fit well with Ruin Raider, since he has the most material bent of the group so far.
For Sister Mara it's a little harder to figure the most useful trait; Ex-Sczarni may offer some interesting possibilities and Non-traditional native sounds like it would fit but I don't think she'd get much use from the bladed scarf or starknife bonuses.

Hi guys,
I was one of the players in James' Tatters of the King pbp (Hey Jam!) and he invited me to submit a character for the Shattered Star game. I'm thinking of a cleric of some sort, based out of Magnimar. I'll get to work on putting him together tonight.
If anyone has any suggestions, they're always welcome. I've got a bunch of ideas but nothing nailed down as yet.
Sister Mara
Sister Mara reporting for duty. Sorry for the prolonged absence these past couple of weeks.
As far as traits go, I didn't see anything that really struck my fancy in the Shattered Star Players' Guide. I was thinking about taking Flame of the Dawnflower and Vagabond Child.
Haven't given much thought as to how to spend my treasure yet - will probably use some of it to purchase a masterwork scimitar.
And welcome aboard, Wander Weir! I played with you in Half-Porc's Master of the Fallen Fortress way back when. A cleric will be a great addition.
Jam412
Hey Wander Weir, great to have you along! I'm sure a whatever sort of cleric you make will be a great fit. James has warned us though that this adventure will be mostly dungeon crawl, so you may want to keep that in mind.
As far as Kua goes, I had been considering going full ranger with two weapon fighting and working toward Thunder and Fang. However, I didn't realize just how feat intensive the prerequisites were. I wouldn't be able to use it until 5th level! In PBP terms, that's like.. years.
Anyway, I'm still ping ponging some ideas around in my brain.

Yeah, the previous ones back to Carrion Crown or so were a bit more fleshed out and I feel like the traits have less of a connection than in other campaigns. For instance, Carrion Crown had the various ways you met the professor, Serpent's Skull had the ports where you got on the ship, Curse of the Crimson Throne the various reasons you wanted what's-his-name dead, etc.
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help out.

Angradd, who is a dwarven deity from the Dwarf companion book. I'm assuming, of course, that James will allow me to use that. If not I'll just go with Sarenrae and exchange the War domain to Glory.
By the way, I don't particularly like the Herolab character sheet layout...I'm just using it temporarily until I have time to reformat the whole thing.
Wander Weir
Ha! Yeah, I couldn't get it as high as I'd originally intended but it's still pretty decent. If James isn't fond of me using the Dwarf companion book (all of which I got out of the SRD) I'll just rebuild Oren as a human cleric of Sarenrae and then his Charisma will be higher too.
I'm honestly happy either way, I just thought it'd be fun to play a cleric of a lesser-known god.
Sister Mara
I play a human cleric of Sarenrae in an Age of Worms PbP. The Glory domain has proven to be quite useful, both for the Touch of Glory boost to Charisma-based skill checks (particularly Diplomacy!) as well as for the +2 boost to the DC for undead to resist your channeled energy (it's like getting the Improved Channel feat for free).

Another note, with the loot from the Ossuary, Yang's going to do the following:
Purchase and scribe 9 1st level spells (9 x 35gp = 315gp)
Scribe 4 scrolls of 1st level spells (4 x 12.5 gp = 50gp)
Buy 1 vial antitoxin (50gp)
total 415gp, which leaves 33GP 7SP 5CP of his share
And please forgive my rudeness and for taking so long to welcome you aboard, Wander Weir!

It looks like Shifty (also a Tatters of the King alum) will be joining in as well. Question: are you guys okay with him bringing in a tiefling fighter or ranger? Tieflings are a bit more powerful than a typical core race (and yet they don't seem so much more powerful they would require a level penalty) so I want to get it cleared with you all first.
Jam412
Actually if Shifty wanted to do a fighter type, I could go bow with Kua. That was my original intention with him to begin with but jelloarm wanted to do ranged.
Anyway, Kua is full on ranger now. I would also like to drop the skirmisher archetype if that's cool with you James.
Shifty
Hi all,
Have slid on over to start the build and am set on a fighty. I had a look at a few builds and am now PRETTY MUCH sold on one... which will be a two-handed fighter type.
The character will not be a walking circus, but was keen on a tiefling, specifically the demon bloodline for its impulsive and brash tendencies.
I will have a build up in about 12 hours.
Cheers guys!

* HP Policy? Rolled or allocated?
In case - roll:1d10 ⇒ 8
* Equipment - because I have been 'caught short' before, I was considering a Silversheen weapon, however they are $$$'s, I am hoping that something dr/silver comes into play. If I am horribly wasting my money, please say so :) (ie no creatures requiring silver like, anywhere)
* Took the • SOUL SEER racial ability.

Hey Shifty, welcome aboard! James allowed us the option of either rolling for HP or taking half at second level.
James, since we seem to be pretty melee heavy, would you mind if I tweaked Kua to archery based? He was going to be spending his hard earned gold on a bow anyway. He wasn't happy when Tripe was nailing him with those flasks from out of reach.. Anyway, it wouldn't be a huge change. Just a feat swap or two.

That's fine by me.
No rush, Wander Weir.
Also just dropped Randall a PM to make sure he saw the discussion thread and we'll see if he has any changes to Auron.
Auron Rurikski
Thanks for the pm. Great to have the old crew back. I'll take a look at Auron and Jhaik soon and would be thinking to change the feats and traits a little. Auron did not use combat expertise too much in the Gods mouth.
Auron would play a materialistic bent as suggested, just need to lookup at the guide first.

Cool. I'll have it taken care of shortly. Follow up question; are we still playing with the alternate combat rules? Forward stance, rearward etc..
Hmm never read them, should I start quickly?
DMJK, no hints on whether silver weapons are 'required'?
Warden of Doors
I don't want to spoil anything down the line, but if you need to know...
As far as the rules, I think I may just go back to the RAW. I'd like to figure out the best means of keeping combat quick with a minimum of mapping, but I'll have to think about it some more.

Thanks for the spoiler.
I'd be just as happy with RAW if thats all the same, but as the newcomer I'll take what I'm given :)
I really shouldn't, but hey I will! I think I'll blow most of my starting money on a Silversheen (material) weapon. OK its basically a shockingly overpriced M/work, but hey when one cannot afford Mithril...

Final oddball question:
The trait 'extremely fashionable' essentially means the character ahs to wear flash clothes and/or jewels. I could buy a necklace or something, but that seems naff.
Given her 'stage persona' I was wondering if:
100 gp - Musical InstrumentSource Core Rulebook
A masterwork instrument grants a +2 circumstance bonus on Perform checks involving its use.
Could be fluffed to a 150gp outfit that does both of the above?
notionally its the 'Hellion' fight costume, stuff worn by itself or in conjunction with her armour. I googles 'Female Wrestler WWE', but then I realised there was so little in those costumes youd be lucky to end up with 3sp of materials.
'Hellion' Svetlana Irriseni

Yeah I did, but the trait is really about two-weapon fighters, and one specific armour. I decided Defender was the better option. Sadly there's no good 'gladiator' type trait.
On that note, good to roll!
Auron Rurikski
I'm proposing some changes for Auron.
equipment
- adding an armoured kilt for my chainmail (20gp)
- purchasing a spring loaded wrist sheath (5gp)
- purchasing a dagger (1gp)
- purchasing a cold iron longsword with combat scabbard (31gp)
- adding a shield sconce to my heavy wooden shield (1gp)
- upgrading Jhaik's barding to masterwork studded leather (200gp)
- purchasing 2 CLW potions (100gp)
- purchasing an everburning torch (110gp)
- 6 vials of acid (60gp)
- a flask of ale (1sp)
feats
swapping combat expertise for intimidating prowess
traits
ruin raider (campaign trait)
dirty fighter (combat trait)
Welcome to Shifty and Wander Weir!

If I wanted to put a rank in a map making skill, would it be craft map, or profession cartographer, or something else?
Either profession- cartographer or knowledge- geography, I'd say. I would lean on Profession, since it seems more likely to produce material goods.
