Half-orc Slayer 6

"There were two intruders prowling about the building. Though it does not seem as though they extended their reconnoitering to the interior. They have, however, made an attempt to obfuscate their passing; which,i believe, makes manifest their ill intent toward our group. The tracks leading away from the edifice intertwine with general traffic to such an extent that I doubt attempting to track them back to their destination will obtain satisfactory results."
During this speech, Volidrian puts the arrow back in it's quiver.

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian follows behind Res trying to stay hidden.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 +3 for traps +2 for hidden objects
stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
if necessary to follow tracks
survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian pulls out his bow and nocks an arrow.
"Never a moment of respite in this land is there. Even during our rest we will have to remain on guard"

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will take a 5' step away from the Mournful Sister and start putting arrows into her.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Damage 1: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Half-orc Slayer 6

Will Save: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 4 = 18

Half-orc Slayer 6

Yup that hits flatfooted touch. Also shouldn't inspire courage be +2?

Volidran backs up from his attacker and starts loosing arrows at the seemingly more threatening enemy, Mother Superior.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage 1: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Attack 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Damage 2: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Attack 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage 3: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Volidrian is using his magical longbow

Half-orc Slayer 6

Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I could offer you two canteens. While they do not possess the capacity of a bucket they are more potentially resistant to whatever may be down the well"
Volidrian starts rummaging around in his backpack

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian gives a toothy grin in response to the praise, "I would not have been able to make those shots Tybalt, had it not been for your encouragement during the battle."
Volidrian will assist Res in inspecting the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15+3 for traps, +2 for hidden objects.

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian takes a 5 foot step forward to get within 30' and continues shooting arrows at the same target
Attack 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Attack 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
Damage 2: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Attack 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Damage 3: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian draws his longbow and looses an arrow at the nearer of the figures.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Sneak Attack/Studied Target: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6

Half-orc Slayer 6

At Leandro's comment Volidrian lowers his bow.

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I fail to see a compelling reason to risk bodily harm to retrieve the rope. However, I believe that I will be able to sever the rope with a broadhead which will allow us to retrieve the majority."
Assuming no objections Volidrian takes a moment to focus on his target and releases an arrow where the rope is looped around the rafter.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I have some additional items which can aid in you climb up... er down."
Volidrian starts fishing out a climber's kit from his backpack.
"I also have a second rope if you want to send up your armor separately so that it does not hinder you asc... descent."

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I have counted out the amount of gold pieces that I will believe shall be sufficient for the purchase of the requisite number of horses. It would be wise for another member of our group to effect the actual exchange however, as I myself have not had the pleasure of extensive experience with horses and thus would not have the ability to select good mounts for a reasonable price."
In addition to ponying up the cash, Volidrian will also buy some silver arrows if available.

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian pulls out some heavy looking bags from his pack, "I have yet to make use of the funds which were divvied up not so long ago. Seeing as how it is through my connection to this group that I have acquired this coinage, I see no reason not to spend them for the common good."
Volidrian has 2,225 gp

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will wander the battlefield picking up all his dropped weapons.
"It may have only been the confusion of battle but those creatures seemed unusually resistant to my arrows and sword. Is there a particular method to defeating them?"

Half-orc Slayer 6

Sorry it's been a busy week.

Last turn
Volidrian had dropped his scimitar to switch to his bow. However, his shot passed harmlessly through the creature.
This turn
Realizing his current weapon is useless Volidrian drops his backup bow and runs to pick up his only magical weapon.

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian takes a 5-foot step into the flank with Tybalt and attacks.
attack 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
damage 1: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) + 6 = 14
attack 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
damage 2: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) + 6 = 21

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will drop is bow and pull out his scimitar to attack the wearboar with Res.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (6, 2) = 19

Half-orc Slayer 6

They are not unfortunately.
Waiting to see if Tybalt will reveal a better target.

Half-orc Slayer 6

Do the bardic bonuses apply to the attacks I made?

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will take another 5 foot step back diagonally and continue to put arrows into the same Wereboar.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Damage 1: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Damage 2: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Attack 3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage 3: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will draw his bow and loose an arrow at the bastard sword wielding wereboar.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Sneak attack and Studied target: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 2 = 10

He will then take a 5 foot step back diagonally.

Half-orc Slayer 6

Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian relaxes a bit and gives Tybalt a toothy grin.
"Just nerves i suppose, the air has an eerie quality tonight"

Half-orc Slayer 6

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
+3 for traps
+2 for hidden objects
"It is quite beneficial that we have such a place to retire for the night. The boarding house seems a reputable establishment"
Volidrian's voice remains calm but his eyes scan the streets and his hand stays by his side with his sword and bow.

Half-orc Slayer 6

"Perchance have you additional information regarding this Dr. Mordenheim? Particularly, why he might be reluctant to part with the journal or how he might be persuaded to part with it?"

Half-orc Slayer 6

"If we are known enemies of the Crimson Court that may allow us to get close enough to Vlad to steal the Fang at a critical moment. It also appears to me that he is the weaker of our foes so that bolstering his forces would result in more in fighting rather than a quick victory."

Half-orc Slayer 6

"Well met Irikar, I must confess to ignorance on my part as I do not know of the term, "Havocker". But those who stand against the powers of darkness are always good allies."

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian, very much not trusting these mists, begins stringing his bow.

Half-orc Slayer 6

"What about the captain? While his behavior of staying sequestered in his cabin may not be unusual for him it would also not be difficult for an imposter to mimic. Furthermore, such an isolated position would make an easier target, like how the late Professor was attacked at night."

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will take a moment to study his target before attacking again.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 4 = 32
Damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5) + 6 = 17

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian moves into the position opposite Leandro weaving to avoid the enemy attacks as he moves into position.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Once in position he will attack the creature.
Cold Iron Scimitar: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
If the target is vulnerable to sneak attack Volidrian also uses an immediate action to study the target.
sneak attack: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 4) + 2 = 11

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian runs through the smoke drawing his sword. Upon not seeing the assailant he stands behind Leandro to watch his back while he tends the wounded.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian joins the others in going up to the deck, pulling his buckler out in the process.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Half-orc Slayer 6

Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian will be watching the lower deck.

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I'm afraid we may have to settle for not solving the problem, we simply don't have enough information to make a positive identification of the assailant and without such we cannot move forward. Even I am not sure of the guilt of the professor, his reluctance in divulging information maybe a result of his recalcitrant demeanor rather than a mens rea."

Half-orc Slayer 6

"Instead of standing watch around the brig may I suggest that we patrol the ship in general during the night?" Volidrian asks hesitantly, "My concern would be that if we are wrong and devote our resources to watching the brig then we would have only eliminated two people. I think if the professor is the murderer up he would likely not attack if locked up as that would immediately identify himself."

Half-orc Slayer 6

What did you do to the dice roller to make it hate you so?

Volidrian will go back to trying to stay hidden, though not in a way that makes it obvious that he is sneaking. And try to look for anything out of the ordinary and listen in to conversations.
stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 +2 to find hidden objects

Half-orc Slayer 6

in the conversation about staying up at night.
"I possess the ability to see a limited distance regardless of illumination. Assuming the moon is bright enough I suggest Tybalt take the upper deck whilst I stay below"

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian's brow is furrowed and he is staring at the aftcastle as if his eyes could drill through it.
"While I generally agree that it is likely that the threat is associated with the passengers rather than the crew I feel some suspicion towards the captain. He has some past that the crew is wary of. While it is probably unrelated I think he bears closer monitoring as well."

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian has been trying to stay unnoticed as much as possible, trying to observe without being observed.
"I will attempt to see how the crew conduct themselves when they believe themselves to be in secret. They may reveal things to each other that they wouldn't to strangers. Do not fear overmuch for my safety going alone, the killer will not find me easy prey."
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
sense motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I fail to foresee an instance in which we would not defend the ship if under attack regardless of any special deal made with the captain, we would probably fair the worst should the boat be destroyed. I'm glad we shall not be expected to help sail the ship. While is not my first time on a boat I have no experience actually sailing one."
Volidrian will board the ship assuming everyone follows suit.

Half-orc Slayer 6

After the building has been confirmed empty.
"Now that my quest is complete I have agreed to aid you in yours, however I would prefer if you could share with me where we are going and what we will be doing"

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian stands at attention, his face a mask of grim determination, though his eyes start to glisten wet towards the end of Tybalt's speech. After the Dr's words he opens his mouth as if to speak and then thinks better of it and remains silent.

Half-orc Slayer 6

"I would have expected a spectral foe to have a less mundane method of elimination but I'll admit that I am not at all knowledgeable in this sort of endeavor."

Half-orc Slayer 6

"And what of Monsieur de Monte? In his current mental state he cannot be trusted to act in a rational manner."

Half-orc Slayer 6

Volidrian leaves the items inside the box for the time being.
"There's a collection of unrelated items in this box. Given the situation, it seems likely that they are magical but I lack the expertise to make a proper diagnosis."
