Some feathers, not a ton of feathers lol. Garuda blood line is tricky, I like the flavor mostly. Assimar's are just neat. So are Tieflings but I can't help but play Male Aasimars and Female Tieflings... Just me I guess~
However my Avatar was the closest thing to a Male Aasimar I could find as there are apparently only 6(?) Aasimar picks and all of them are female. Heh. One of which has eyes that disturb me some...
I may look to find a more suitable avatar but I dunno if I will be that lucky... =/
@Mary Understood, I will clarify my posts in the future perhaps we can assume Mary walked right past since she was having a great conversation about crossbows with the Halfling. ;)
First in game post will try and get my character wrapped up by evening today. The advice thread I started showed I was way off. =/ There are some truly great optimizers in this community lol!
Oh I gotcha. Apologies, I am used to laying it out on the table. But that explanation makes perfect sense. Mystery factor~ :)
Yeah I had thought of shortening Vitarri's background to a head injury and fractured memories but I just felt he was becoming more bland and uninteresting. I had a hard time trying to figure it out description wise as well. :/
You have a cleric of Gorum? Hmmm Perhaps I need to hit you up on build questions haha. :) And what is PFS like? I thought of trying it but didn't know the best way~ We can continue in PM's if you want.
Cover story: You have an introduction, great differential on what is verbal and not, but nothing else that conveys a blurb about Sarmonet.
Counter Strike: Great Game. Miss my old team. :(
Common Sense: To Be Determined (TBD), I am just kidding. ;)
I originally read you were making a barbarian and now your a summoner with a somewhat battle crazed Ghoulish trend?
But you don't have a background other then your Intro paragraph.
You came to study undead. Is that it? Who is Sarmonet? What drives him other then his strange need for Undead Knowledge. Does his Eidolin look like a ghoul? Is he planning on becoming a Lich? Who knows? These are the few questions I asked myself after reading what you have.
Don't get me wrong, I made a somewhat very bland Aasimar Battle Cleric of Gorum. I don't have much that I can personally add to him. I mean seriously, Gorumites live for battle! Lumber Consortium thugs? Fey? Undead and Were-beasts!? What better foes could there be and all of them rumored to be in the Vale! No better battleground exists, at least not for a lone 4th lvl cleric/ftr. I did some rolls on the alternate tables for Aasimar but there is little I can do to fluff up his exploits or ambitions.
I chose cleric however because the group appeared to be in need of a solid Arcane/Divine caster. Ftr gives me access to heavy armor and tower shields and more weapon proficiencies. So he rounds out as a decent frontliner who can buff/heal and hold the line if we need to retreat.
That's why over the days I looked him over and changed his feats, improved sunder was nice but Selective Channel was a smarter choice for the group aspect. So I dipped into ftr (which may have been a mistake) so that I could take cleave. So now he can dish out some pain, heal a select few and use his consecrated blades to channel his positive energy to destructive smite enemies(undead) with all the ferocity of a Gorumite!
Now Arama has a solid build, fun concept and troubling personal appearance that will add a lot to the setting and roleplay without being overly distracting. Since he is an Oracle, he can probably out heal my cleric. Especially if he took the Life Oracle Archetype.
But I digress, my only intent was to see what other awesome aspects you could add to your character to round them out. I like seeing what people come up with, creative thinking on these boards is awesome, most of the time. lol
Added some more weapons to Vitarri as he had extra money. also fixed his stats in profile as I didn't notice it was 20 pt buy at first. So now he isn't so brutally unintelligent lol!
The DM was only wanting background and specifics on why your character would go there and their relation with the party. Now that they are somewhat famous.
He wasn't overly concerned with the crunch and I did it mainly to get a feel for my character and because he was previously built for 3.5... And I am bored. :( So do what you need to do! :)
From GM Niles - You would start at level 4 with 6000GP worth of items. No 1 item more than 1500GP. I'll take submissions until Friday Feb 7th and my players will decide who they are interested in. Any race from core rulebook is ok check with me for anything else, no evil alignments please. 2 traits, 20 point buy. Any class is also ok. Check with me on archetypes. Good Luck! Looking forward to seeing what you make. :D
Edit: removed +1 from armor to stay below 1500gp limit, also rolled my HP instead of averaging them~ Tried to keep combat gear costs within the reasonable limits. His Spiked Field PLate is the most expensive item at 1400 gp. with the second item being his muleback cords @ 1k.
[Gold used is 3950/6000] Will complete mundane gear when I know how it goes from here. :D
Using the variant rules he is Garuda Blooded Plumekith. And aside from cosmetic changes (No effect on gameplay I promise~) His only other change is exchanging his daylight spell for adding the holy effect to a blade for 3/r per day.
He will channel positive, despite the fun that channel negative would be.
@Arama Thanks for telling me! :D Hero Lab tends to forget bonuses and it was a +2 STR CL but Hero Lab didn't attach that when it was exported.
Thanks again. :)
It was nice however to update him, even if I don't get picked just love the character hehe. :)

He stood tall and imposing in his black plated plate mail, with the symbol of Gorum hammered into the breastplate of his armor. The spikes that adorned his shoulders plates were as much for show as the spikes that were on the front of his clenched gauntlet. He flexed his gauntleted fist before shaking off the blood from the first man he knocked down. He stared out through his thin visor at the fools who dared challenge the consortium's lumber rights in the Vale. Without so much of a pause he drew out his greatsword and took up a stance with his blade upraised. "Continue to challenge me Theives and by the Lord of Iron I will end you. NOW BE GONE!" The remaining pair of would-be thieves scattered like leaves in a fierce wind.
After sheathing his greatsword he regarded the last man with disdain, mere rabble, not worthy of his time and certainly not worthy of his blade. Not even worth punching again...
It seemed with each passing day his contract grew more burdensome. Were there no worthy foes to fight in this Vale? Was the consortium's men this incompetent and lazy?
The fat pompous windbag of the consortium, who had the audacity to carry himself like a warrior slid his way over like the lazy snake he was and chuckled at Vitarri's act of mercy. At least thats what he liked to call it. "I see ya let dis one live eh? Your a bit too soft for a man of Gor... HURGH!"
The man wheezed as Vitarri grabbed him by his throat, the spikes on his gauntlet were a mere inch away from piercing flesh. He was fed up with this man's mocking tone, he had half a mind to beat him within an inch of his miserable fat life and perhaps then he would no what mercy was. "Not worthy of my blade... Mock me further and you'll be on the ground with him dear piglet. If you want him dispatched then do it yourself coward. It's easy now that the work is done for you..." He released the fat man's throat, leaving him wheezing on the ground as he gasped for breath as Vitarri stalked away back to his post. Uncaring whether he was lectured by another representative of the Lumber Consortium.
:Cowards, Thieves, Weaklings! Is there not one worthy among them! JUST ONE! Challenge me Ironlord, lest I die of boredom among these pathetic wretches.: When no answer came he sighed and started sharpening his blades, waiting patiently for another day to pass so he could be done with this Guard Duty nonsense...
Apologies, Vitarri is not complete at all for Pathfinder yet. He is an old 3.5 Cleric that never got off the ground in a previous campaign. I mainly posted as him for his appearance and personality, he is somewhat broken inside but not enough where he cannot function.
I will build him to be a Cleric of Gorum, Aasimar or Human which ever is acceptable. Where he can provide Healing/Buff's and Combat Support (Will focus on being a hitter type)
As a Magus he would be very much for active fitting. Bladebound Kensai with Dervish style would allow him to focus on his dex and intelligence and make him a decent enough combatee. Coupled with Magical Lineage and Intensify spell he could continue to make shocking grasp a useful attack in his manuevers.
Both Classes would be able to provide combat support, the magus more then the cleric of course. I attempted to set the reasoning on why he would go their around something to do as a Merc for the Lumber Consortium or the interesting tales the Darkmoon Vale holds along with rare spell reagents. Simple but effective. =/
I haven't prepared any other crunch just yet. Sorry for the mix up :(
But I do appreciate the tip Hecktor ;)
@GM Niles: I assumed as a new player/character joining the game he wouldn't know the party, if I assumed wrong I can make a more fitting background.
Presenting a Cleric of Gorum or Magus (Kensai, Bladebound, Dervish Dancer style) if needed. He needs to be retooled to pathfinder but his personality and appearance will mostly remain the same.
Race Aasimar or Human is fine with me. Will update when I get a response, thank you for your consideration! :)
He came to Falcon's Hollow under orders of the consortium and as a hired mercenary. Seeking to fulfill his contract he has since guarded logging sites from intrusive fey and worse. Calling on the Lord of Iron only when a truly worthy foe appears. When the troubles start to arise in Falcon's hollow he is reassigned to protecting their assests in the town and is now bored out of his mind. Protecting a building from sickly townsfolk wasn't what he signed up for as it displeases the Lord of Iron...
Despite his tragic loss as a Magus he seeks to find rare herbs to enhance his magical progress, word of the disease intrigues him alongwith the Darkmoon Vales ominous reputation. It's an oppourtunity he could ill afford to miss.
Basic scenario, Acid Cloud is casted ahead of a moving vehicle that has no time to avoid or slow down. So the vehicles own movement carries it into the cloud and the occupants/vehicle take damage.
Would this cancel out Invisibility? As the vehicle movement happened after the spell was casted?
I ruled that this wouldn't cancel out Invisibility as the RAW states " For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe. Exactly who is a foe depends on the invisible character's perceptions. Actions directed at unattended objects do not break the spell. Causing harm indirectly is not an attack. Thus, an invisible being can open doors, talk, eat, climb stairs, summon monsters and have them attack, cut the ropes holding a rope bridge while enemies are on the bridge, remotely trigger traps, open a portcullis to release attack dogs, and so forth. If the subject attacks directly, however, it immediately becomes visible along with all its gear. Spells such as bless that specifically affect allies but not foes are not attacks for this purpose, even when they include foes in their area."
Which I interpreted as since the cloud did the damage to the vehicle because it wasn't able to stop in time, that the Invisibility wouldn't be canceled out.
Hopefully that is clear enough for how the situation is.
@ DM Will you allow me to use the Rules from unearthed arcana to pay off/reduce my level adjustment in the future? If you need a link I can provide it =D. Thought I would ask before I assume anything. Thanks~
Thala groaned, waking slowly to something creaking. Was it the spiteful evil beings once more? No, she didn't sense it... And that's when the being sat up, eyes wide.
She was on the roof, in a hollowed out section that gave her safety while sleeping. Quickly she dons on her chain shirt, then cloth which resembled silk that hid the chain shirt that protected her, the color pure white with a lining of gold on the opened ends (sleeves, neck area, ect.. Look up Assimar). A belt goes around her waist, a rather large scabbard attached, with a sword inside, the type unknown to all but her.
Quickly she goes down a hidden ladder on the back of the inn, walking slowly to the front.
** spoiler omitted **
Trying her best, she seems to step on quite a few twigs as she made her way to the front, her short brown hair covering her right eye some as she tilts her head around the corner, wondering if anyone was there besides the evil taint that infected the city.

Your doing fine ^^d you get better at it as you post more
"I'm not all that concerned, so no need for apologies, just be careful you don't meet a blade in the dark..." He casts a wary glance across the crowd.
Leaning back he ponders for a moment on Maimaltril's question and finding his memory wanting, Vitarri simply shrugs. I'm not sure yet, my memory is... hazy on the why i'm here. I do know that this place may need my help and while i'm here I will do what I can no matter the cost." He flexes his battle gauntleted hand as he takes another sip of his weak wine, he spares the serving girl his best smile.
DM:
@ DM I don't know if I missed the email on why my character came to this place or if you were giving us private missions of sorts. Just wondering no big deal ^^d
@DM Correct if i'm wrong on the serving girl stuff lol, just adding it for flavor xD! But I won't do it agian if you don't want me too.
Keeping an eye on these new possible threats, Vitarri moves to the ladder and climbs as fast as he can in full battle gear. Having climbing up that questionable wooden ladder he stops and gives the walls of Kothas an admiring low whistle for a moment before moving on past the gate and into Kothas's interior. He doesn't seem the least bit disturbed by the heavily armored guardsmen but after he gets a ways passed them he releases a tense breath. Heavy armor always equals trouble, something I can't afford just yet...
He heads for three Stones Lodge straight away, he keeps himself in a wary state now that he is entering the unfamiliar streets of Kothas. As he approaches the tavern he tries to assess it's clientèle before entering, after a few moments he decides to enter and find a table nearest to the hearth, after taking a seat with his back facing the wall he decides to sit awhile as he waits for Maimaltril to appear.
When the bar maid appears he smiles at her and orders some weak wine, after it arrives he slips her a silver and another smile before sitting back sipping his wine slowly. He casually memorizes the faces in the tavern trying to commit them to memory. Never know who could betray you and best to remember their face so you can find them when vengeance is due...
"I believe for now we need to remain calm and quiet until we can get off this ship. Then we shall talk more of mutual problems needing dealt with friend." Still scanning the harbor, he spares a glance every now and again at the ferrymen trying to determine what has caused him such a fright. Perhaps it was the thought of taking a dip in the bay from all the quarreling on the ship, perhaps.... Vitarri shrugs unconsciously and returns to his vigil as the rowboat makes it's slow way to shore.
Returning to his seat, Vitarri's hand hovers near his wrapped and loaded crossbow. He scans the harbor searching for what yet may be unseen, the black and white details of his dark-vision, mixed with the gloom of the harbor, make it nothing but a foul blur. Quietly cursing he continue his futile search.
Spot 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 lol well at least my above description was accurate to my roll xD
Shaking Atherton's gloved hand and sharing a short but hearty laugh with this new acquaintance. Vitarri can't help but feel edgy. Dangerously Refined, indeed. This mission will prove more interesting then I first thought....
well the whole problem with the combat now is that it more or less translate as this. As I try to calm things down and push the blade away Soejka gets up and does his thing which totally negates what I did.
*As Mai stands and pulls his weapon, I also stand and then pull at something from underneath my cloak,
So no surprise round as Mai was waiting/wanting to fight. So his sheathing his blade is negate as well.
So Depending on the DM's ruling the feint and stuff will be round 1 or two if she see it as the first actions by soejka to be in 'surprise'.
Sorry i'm a stickler for text and as this being my second new pbp i just want to get this right lol. Not trying to be a jerk just going off what people have typed and the order in which it was posted. Now if you had waited for him to sit down and not be looking at you it would a surprise round when he got sucker punched with a chain xD.
I'd love to seperate you guys but I think we are on some sort of launch and too much more commotion might just capsize us lol. Besides that this is going to be awesome to watch xD
@ Atherton: Putting his hands up defensively "I mean no disrespect my friend i'm just surprised a refined individual like yourself is here that is all, I mean't no insult I assure you its a pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Vitarri Tyrim, modest healer and guardsmen by trade."
Three things: One i'm assuming you have improved feint, Then your feint would be a move action, if not its a standard action. Two since i'm assuming this boat is small and the seats close together its going to be difficult terrain thus no 5 ft step. From the sounds of our small rickety boat, I don't think the ferry is large enough for you to be making a bunch of moves without the guardsmen and ferry men getting angry. Three it'a blatantly obvious that your pulling a spike chain since it has a 10ft reach, so unless you try to conceal it, which would cost you another skill check there no use putting it in a spoiler tag, its not a dagger.
He gives another long hard stare at both of the elves before he turns and settles himself back near his seat with a wary eye on the conflict near him. He remains standing and watchful, he doesn't want to accidentally get struck nor does he feel like taking a swim for that matter. "I've said and done what I could its upto you gentlemen if you are going to take this further."
As Mai begins to yell, Vitarri quickly tries to stifle his rage filled voice with a quick gesture as if trying to say we are not alone, this is Not the place. Carefully placing his battle gauntlet protected hand on the flat side of the blade, up by the tip, he tries to gently direct it away, as he waves a hand reassuringly to the ferrymen and guards as he tries to get the situation under 'some' control.
Whispering to both parties involved "we all look like drow in this light friend, no insult intended by this statement of fact. But this is not a time to hash out our differences." Hoping that Mai has sheathed his weapon, Vitarri continues after releasing a, formerly held, breath. Let's get off this ri.... ferry before we upset our hosts any further." Sitting back down he releases a tense sigh and purposefully stays alert.
Heading to bed ^^; If you need me to roll a diplomacy i will later, thanks DM =)
Vitarri will continue to utter caution, since he doesn't want to die to rabid fish or something, or upset the rest of those around this squabble.
Ignoring the naive chattering directed towards him, Vitarri glances at the dog every now and again as memories of his past refuse to remain quiet. A beautiful specimen, so much blood, why did they..., forcing the memory aside he focuses on the man who has been dragged into this useless quarrel. Regarding him with a, hopefully, friendly expression he nods his head in approval to his words of caution. "I agree with you my"Dangerously"refined friend, perhaps things were said in haste. It is interesting to see someone such as yourself coming here."
He nods his head respectfully to Mai as well before saying "Ignore what is being directed at you my friend. We shall speak more once we are landed and in more... Stable conditions." With that Viarri looks very interested in something in the surrounding fog, he still keeps his wits about him. Just in case.
Also, if you want to reprimand someone do so in the OOC Thread or let the DM do it please, and just so people know i'm not annoyed or anything i'm just trying to follow character. I really think this is fun so far but if you think i need to tone it down a notch, I will. ^^;
Rogues can have any alignment ^^; or at least my paperback 3.5 player guide says that on page 50 ^^;;;; I checked too since i'm friggen surrounded by stabby rogues. But if I have a misprint or they errata-ed it I would like to know =D
"I may be here to purge those who infest this place with their ilk so it may return to normal, who knows..."
Quitely he says, "Normal humph, whats normal for one is alien to another. Will you impose your will of "normal" on those whom are happy in thier own ways? Is your way the only way?"
Shuddering with rage at the 'holier then thou' attitude being directed at him, Vitarri keeps his hands down in his lap and flexes his battle gauntlet reflexively to release the tension in his shoulders. "Only someone who hasn't experienced what I have would say something like that. To simply answer your question, No i would not 'impose' my will like you do on your dog good sir. I will merely be there to offer those my hand if they so need me." He pauses as he smothers an explosion of violent thoughts and images. Shaking at the effort he looks back at this stranger' "And if you wish to quote me so do it right, I'm here to heal or guide if needed and if, in guidance, a few evils must be removed then so be it. I will not impose my will on anyone, boy." Finally noticing the dog, again, Vitarri unthinkingly puts a hand out towards it in a friendly gesture before thinking better and setting his hands on his knees.
If they don't need my help here then I will move forward and become stronger, strong enough to end this ignorant fighting all around us He flexes his battle gauntlet again and balls it into a fist as the thoughts of his previous life pour through him like a sluice gate being opened. I won't stop no matter what it costs me, even if it kills me With his mind focused he stares toward the distant harbor filled with a personal resolve.
Hiding a smirk, Vitarri wrap's his light crossbow back up with an oiled cloth to protect it from the invading moisture. He slides it up on his right shoulder, allowing it to sit in its sling within easy reach.
"An alliance would be welcomed indeed" Vitarri smiles in spite of himself, and keeps his focus on the area around him for anything that appears hostile. His eyes flicker constantly towards the port, he squints every now and again trying to pierce the foggy haze that has fallen around them. The men on the ship are almost like ghosts as he ponders what could await them in this cesspool of decaying ruin.
Seeing his own reflection mirrored in the other strangers eyes causes Vitarri to pause momentarily as he ponders how unique this elf is compared to some he has met before. After forcing himself to focus back to the hear and now he remembers Mai's question. "My name is Vitarri, you can call me Vi if you wish it matters not to me." He pauses as he realizes what Mai hints too, Vitarri sheaths his longsword and begins making mental notes of how large the ship is 'in case' of a sudden need to maneuver. Remembering the last bit of what Mai said causes Vitarri to smile, oh so slightly, at the thought of 'trouble' before departing this rickety ferry. "Agreed, best to not allow ourselves to be too distracted. Lest something strike us in this mist." He loads a bolt into his light crossbow and sits casually as they ferry continues slowly onward.
Startled out of his drifting thoughts, he releases a silent curse at his own absentmindedness, glancing at the stranger suddenly asking questions. He tries to assess the stranger as he ponders how to answer this... persons question. Unable to comprehend this elf's appearance he quickly looks away, drawing out his longsword and sharpening it with his whetstone.
Controlling his voice as best he can, he speaks 'calmly' "I'm not sure exactly why i'm here, Friend, perhaps its to help those who need a healers hand or..." he pauses as he checks his blades balance for a moment before continuing "I may be here to purge those who infest this place with their ilk so it may return to normal, who knows..."
As he finishes he looks back at the strange elf, its then he seems to notice the others around him and, sparing another hateful glance towards the ferrymen and his 'escort', scans the vessel mentally counting those aboard who appear not to be with the ferrymen. Satisfied he continues sharpening and checking his blade.
"The real question is what brings all of us to this place?" Vitarri speaks aloud to know one in particular. Waiting for a response he returns to the strange elf, whose features are perplexing in the lack of light.
ran out of time to change previous post, a little more description about Vitarri
Their ferry moved ever forward in the dark churning waters of the harbor, as the thick mist threatened to engulf their ship Vitarri checks his gear again. Traveling in full battle gear was uncomfortable at the best of times, but in these dark times it was prudent to be prepared, in fact only because of his dented helm did he survive a killing blow from some fool days before this... venture began.
He purposefully releases his grasping shield, testing it's response time, happy with its response time he resets it and continuing checking his equipment strappings. As he tests his crossbow's strings tautness he loses focus for a moment and unconsciously traces the scarf about his neck. As his fingers brush the chain coif about his neck his mind snaps back into focus, a burning anger flashing through his mind. He shudders from head to toe before regaining control of himself and rechecking his gear again.
With molten gold eyes reflecting dangerously in the weak light, Vitarri meets every disdainful stare with unspoken promises of pain if any dare stand against him. He keeps a hand warily on his sword hilt, only sparing a glance to dark water off to his side. These fools are weak and ignorant, only good enough to be purged for their pathetic ideals because it is obvious that they are unworthy men.
As they move slowly through the harbor, his thoughts continued only to grow darker as he silently damns the gods for their abandonment of those who trusted. As the debris passes by their craft his grim thought continued to fester, as his unkempt hair brushes his shoulders he starts to feel his anger intensify. As the hateful gazes of their 'escorts' pass over him again his hand forms into a balled fist inside his battle gauntlet, he meets their pathetic gaze again willing them to give him a reason to leave more debris in the dark water.
As their eyes move on he releases a silent curse with the tense breath he'd been unknowingly holding. As his anger and frustration pass he finds his focus returning, a frustrated frown creases his ivory colored face he realizes that these fools are not worth the pleasure of his wrath. Their were people in that city who needed his healing hand, they need that which their gods were unwilling to give.
Besides that these fools, and others like them, would perish one way or another...
A dark start, I like it >=), hopefully I was assuming correctly that we are heading into the ominous city? And if so can't wait to see what innocence must be saved and what evil must be purged
Will be busy with a doctors appointment tomorrow and its a 6 hour round trip drive to my appointment :p just to give you a heads up. Will try and post as often as time permits. Looking forward to it as well. =D
Iron kingdoms is a decent steam punk system you could look at =) I've played in that setting many times and it seems well balanced to me. Its based in 3.5e though.
I apologize in advance for my character being fairly wordy >.<; don't know any easier way to condense my info so hopefully it isn't too much of a bother. Tried to lay it all out fairly easy and plain to avoid confusion, also kept everything spaced apart to avoid clumping ^^;
