Well... I guess so. I might not have been posting with all you guys in here but honestly I've been checking in every day. Since there still hasn't been a response I guess it really is the end. RIP all the citizens of Greenest.

"Things went about as well as could be imagined Governor Nighthill. The mill seems to have been a distraction, but I must apologize to the owners when they can be located. It was left quite a mess, what with all the blood and the dead kobolds." He sighs and absentmindedly moves a strand of hair out of his face.

After Nighthill's speech he puts a hand on Zillyanna's shoulder, "You did well back there, when all this is over--." The roar and the thunderclap cut him short as he stares into the sky, his hand instinctively reaching for his pendant. He shakes his head and starts to run for the battlements, heading up the stairs and stopping next to one of the men on the wall. He turns, his hand reaching back for the longbow on his back, as he tries to find the dragon in the night sky once more.

I think I'm right on my place on the map, double move.

Venali lowers his arm to his side before returning the blade to its scabbard. Very well, apparently they don't mind. He turns back to face the wounded drake and reaches out a hand with a quick motion to follow.

Draconic:
"This would be your chance to leave this mill alive. I'd hurry if I were you before they take notice.

He turns and makes his way down the stairs, being wary of the drake's movements as he descends.

Taking the Dodge action the whole way down the stairs I guess?

"Well, there doesn't seem to be much if any damage done to the building itself." He stands back and watches as Evendur starts moving the tinder that was not yet set ablaze.

Ignore that if the fire had not been started, I honestly forget and am trying to do this quickly while at work. I'll likely add to this when I get home to finish the reaction to everyone else's posts.

Venali's demeanor returns to normal as he calls down to the group, blade still raised. "What do we want to do about this drake? For what it's worth, I'd prefer letting it leave alive. I did make that offer in return for surrender."

Continuing to weave around the drake's biting, Venali takes a moment to reach for his waterskin, looking at the spellcasting kobold.

Draconic:
[b]"I'm getting tired of this game, if you want magic, I'll show you real magic."[b]

He pulls the lid off with his teeth before throwing it in the air, thrusting out his hand toward the kobold through the falling water. A shard of ice forms in the air, a deadly point forming on the end facing the kobold before it flies forward like a thrown dagger.

As he sidesteps around the arcane orb and dodes away from the drake's teeth he lunges forward to take another stab at the beast.

Venali takes a deep breath before raising his blade to his face, he slashes it through the air, leveling it and aiming it at the drake's eyes. "Well then, let us dance."

Enter Bladesong, AC increased to 19. Other things too, but not important right now.

The corner of his mouth raises in a half smile as his demeanor changes, a slight glimmer enters his eyes. He quickly lunges forward, aiming at the beast's heart.

Venali clutches at his shoulder as he climbs the stairs to the loft. Turning the corner and facing the winged kobold he brandishes his thinblade before speaking to it.

Draconic:
"You don't need to do this, throwing your lives away for these men who claim to serve your Lady. They are just using you as fodder, mere pawns to be discarded in place of themselves on the battlefield. Lay down your arms and cease your castings and I will do what I can to insure you live to see tomorrow."

I'll post once I'm home with access to roll20, but for now I'll take the holy symbol and I suppose 2 gold. Though I feel it might be easier to just have a collective gold count and just agree on purchases to simplify book keeping.

Also, do those robes look more flashy and important than the ones currently stashed away?

Venali lowers his bow as the last kobold turns tail and flees. "Well, I for one will not be shooting him in the back." He slings the bow over his shoulder and unsheathes his thinblade. "If there is to be some sort of ambush or trap as you seem to expect, I would suggest we at least get this mill secure."

Venali nocks another arrow and takes aim at the cultist that is surprisingly still up and able to fight. "One would think self preservation would trump orders."

As the arrow misses its mark he curses under his breath, "Noy jitat."

Sorry for the late and short reply, work has been a bit more hectic than anticipated.

Venali nocks an arrow and takes aim at one of the cultists, preparing to loose it in tandem with Zillyanna.

My guess is late next year, not all will make the cut, and most will look fairly different. I just hope they do a second round of playtesting before sticking it in a book. The storm sorcerer was a bit underwhelming, the swashbuckler was okay but most of the newer things didn't even get playtested as far as I saw.

It's just too bad that the rest of them are getting put off til after the 9th of next month. But yeah, saw the Oath of Conquest and immediately thought of our resident paladin.

Venali walks towards the rest of the group and nods as Zillyanna suggests heading towards the buildings. As the group seems to have made a conscious, he moves across after her, attempting to remain unseen, an arrow already nocked in case an alarm is raised. Whispering in response to Hutch, "Perhaps a bit of both."

Venali's hand had moved to grab another arrow but as everyone else seemed to linger rather than give chase he let it fall to his side. "Perhaps, but it is more likely that they are running off to lick their wounds and report to one of those dragonclaws." He sloshes out of the water towards the two dead lizards. No sense in not taking a few samples from these two as well. He bends down and, using one of the discarded weapons on the ground, tries to pry loose a few scales. After placing those he manages to get loose intact in his component pouch he stands back up to face the party, absent-mindedly removing the mud from his boots and warming them to speed the drying process with a few quick motions.

Venali lowers his bow and gives a nod of thanks to Zillyanna as the cultist falls to the water. He mutters a quick incantation and traces a sigil in the air between him and the cultist behind her. Ice crystallizes on the man's legs and robes, soaked as they are from the stream, and quickly spreads to the rest of his body forming a thin coating along his torso and arms.

Con save, DC 13,Frostbite: 1d6 ⇒ 6 and disadvantage on next weapon attack roll if he fails.

"Noy jitat," Venali mutters under his breath as the kobold spots them. He slings the longbow off his back and nocks an arrow, taking aim at the drake that charged forward and lets the arrow loose.

Sigh... oh well. Also, I'm pretty sure green was disgust.

Venali nods once, "I agree on the stealthy approach, we should mute our presence as much as possible until we reach the mill."

Killing as many enemies as possible isn't really necessary, I believe our good DM here has mentioned on a few occasions that he is using a threshold leveling system rather than experience points.

Venali silently follows the group into the armory. He looks around a bit before setting the scimitar on one of the racks and packing the cultist cloak in his backpack. He then grabs a longbow and a quiver, "Perhaps it is best not to rely entirely on magic tonight."

Seeing that no one seemed inclined to rest outside of the governor's office Venali sat back down in one of the chairs, pulling his spellbook out to study for a short time.

About how long have we been in the town as of right now? Like 2 hours?

Also, I didn't mention it in the post I rolled the short rest but I'd like to go ahead and use arcane recovery to get back a spell slot. I'll play it out in character when I have time (when I get home from work).

With a slight bit of color tinging his cheeks he whispers back, "I believe she is asking whom among us you are having... relations with."

At Hutch's suggestion of joining his new group, "Provided we take only contracts which aren't disreputable, and which will not get in the way of my quest... I would be willing to join your band."

Sorry for the absence, and again for the awkward post on coming back. I'll try and get something else up later in the day.

As Venali enters the governor's chamber and hears talk of reward, "Now is not the time to think of such matters, not while there are still raiders stealing anything of worth they can find. But, thank you, Governor. I only hope we can help more as the night goes on." He then visibly slumps and makes his way to a chair, forgetting all pomp and good manners as he plops down onto it exhausted.

As Zillyanna pokes him he winces a bit before replying, "If I had to guess from the way they are talking to each other, I'd say they were married."

Venali tosses the scimitar he was still carrying to Hutch's feet as he commented on wanting a non-tainted weapon.

"Yes, I think a rest might be for the best right now. I don't suppose there is room in the barracks/b] He stands and gives Sophie a quizzical look before turning towards Zillyanna. [b]"Maybe we can find you a more private room somewhere, though with the villagers we brought here that might be hard."

If the villagers didn't know it was there, I'd assume it's at least somehow naturally hard to notice the entrance.

Venali notices Zillyanna hiding in a bush as they approach and gives a slight nod her way. He walks past Hutch who stops at the bush, chuckling a bit before continuing into the tunnel, cocking an eyebrow as the man tries to pull the bush out of the ground. He moves through the tunnel quickly and knocks on the door. Knowing Zillyanna and Hutch shouldn't be far behind.

Assuming the villagers have already made it through at this point. If not that can be retconed a bit.

Venali shakes his head as he follows Hutch back to the secret tunnel, glad that the cultist and mercenaries either didn't notice or didn't care that Hutch was carrying around the head of one of their pet monsters.

Venali gives Hutch a shrug, "One of the first things one learns at court. That said, their lives outweigh my own at this point. Let's hope they've all made it safely." With that he turns and makes sure the coast is clear before moving towards the tunnel.

I think you might be confusing what I did...

I doubled back, telling you guys to get them to the secret entrance, then came up to the cultist and the mercenaries to tell them to head to the temple. Which, it seems they were about to do so before Hutch ran up and told them everyone was wisked away by the non-existant wizard.

I wasn't trying to get into a fight, I was sending them off on a fool's errand to the temple to make the way clear for you guys to get the villagers to safety... I have no plan on fighting anyone. I just wanted them out of the way.

Honestly, I feel you didn't need to try and "rescue" me or "pull me out of this alive". Things were going fine.

This is what I was under the impression of how things were going. The circled area with the ? is where I assumed the cultist and the mercenaries were.

Noticing the enemies a bit too close to the Jeep's secret entrance than he'd like with all these people he turns to Evendur, "Get these people to safety as soon as they are out of sight."

He circles back and runs towards the group from tbe direction of the temple, feigning being out of breath. "Quickly, the temple! We broke through the door but the villagers, they had a wizard with them. The others," he pauses to take a haggered breath, "There was so much fire, hurry!"

I'm assuming a deception check? He is still wearing the cultist cloak.

Honestly? I kind of need to know where everyone else is before I make that decision. Last I heard Hutch, Zillyanna, and Evendur were all back at the temple. With Hutch somehow seeing these new enemies from who knows how far away behind a wall and multiple houses.

Venali tries to maintain a smile as the doors open and he sees all the people inside, more than he had expected. I hope we can do this without too much of a problem. He gives the priest a nod before turning back towards the town and giving a motion for them to follow.

Taking a quick look both ways upon entering the street he turns left and makes for the back of the homes. When he thinks it's safe to talk he looks over his shoulder, "It's not much further, just at the bend in the stream up ahead."

This assumes a bit much but... still.

True enough, but you did call it. Venali has never been in an actual battle such as this. He was taught tactics, but that doesn't always play out as well in practice as it does on a table.

Venali looks back at the man, "Fine. Turning back to the door, "You all go at once, I suppose at least one of us will have to go with you to show you the tunnel. The rest will cover the escape if necessary. Well?"

Finally fed up with the buffon, Venali tries to shove the man away from the door.

Strength (Athletics): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

"You're not helping by insulting them and scaring them more than they already were. Just," he waves off towards the left side of the temple, ",go and watch for the procession, and put that cloak back on." He pinches the bridge of his nose, trying to restore his calm and lower his blood pressure.

Speaking back through the door, "The plan was, and as far as I'm concerned still is, to move you all in small groups. Though all at once would be ideal if there aren't a lot of you hiding away in there. There is a tunnel that hasn't been used for a long time leading into the keep near the stream to the southwest. We will move as many as we can each time the group circling this temple is no longer in view, and return the bar on the door when they are close."

He lets out a deep sigh before continuing, "We will need to make a show of trying to break down the door as they pass. I hope this can all be over quickly, but we must act with haste if we are to do anything."

He then turns back to Zillyanna, "Can you keep a watch at the wall to make sure that our friends don't return without us knowing?"

Okay, I'm going to just assume all 6 of the kobolds went with the dragonclaw and the two cultists that had the log, otherwise this conversation doesn't make much sense to be having with them interrupting/attacking Hutch.

Venali sighs as he moves towards the door, knocking, hoping one of the frightened people will believe him. "Please, we are here to help, I assure you. We were sent by Governor Nighthill. As soon as we are able we're going to get you out of here."

I'm fine with roll20 for the battlemap and such.

As for planning, as soon as the coast was clear I was planning to run up to the door and try and get the attention of those inside, let them know we came at the governor's request and try and get them out of there before the circling party came back. Not sure how long that would take, assuming they even believe it. So things would need to be timed so that they start leaving not long after those circling are moving towards the back.

Though, if only 4 of the kobolds went with the dragonclaw that does pose a problem, but one I'm surr Hutch will love solving. I jist really don't like the idea of trying to fight the circling procession.
