BACKSTORY
Born of a noble house, closely related to the ruling family of Evereska, Venali never wanted for anything. His early days were spent wandering the garden, fencing, and pouring over spellbooks and historical texts. It was a nice enough was to pass the time, learning little parlor tricks to impress visiting diplomats. Though he was never quite sure if they were actually impressed or just polite. Everyone was always so polite. Not his brother, at least, not that he can remember.
When he was about 28 or so, his brother disappeared. He heard the servants talking about an argument between him and their father, apparently Ysuran had done something that called for him to be exiled. At this, Venali poured himself into training. Spending every day with his nose in his studies or a blade in his hand, always with one goal in mind: to bring back his brother.
Finally, after many years of training in sword and spell, he managed to convince his father to let him look for Ysuran. Even knowing that his father only allowed him to go thinking him dead, or expecting Venali to come running back at the first sign of hardship, he was determined to see things through. His mother and sisters gave him a tearful farewell, and one small ray of hope. His mother had heard rumors of an elf matching Ysuran's description passing through a town called Greenest. While it was many years ago, it was all he had to go on.
After gathering some provisions and purchasing a thinblade, which he had always preferred to the longswords he had been formerly taught with, he joined a caravan heading south.
